A wonderful hotel right on the beach

A great location right on the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice amenities, including free cookies every night and morning snacks (bananas, muffins) every morning. We had an oceanfront room and we could hear the roar of the waves, which was wonderful. There were no distracting or loud noises. Our room was very clean and comfortable. My only complaint was the maid service. We were there for 6 nights and they made up our room very late every day. One day, the turn down service came just 30 minutes after the room was made up. But overall, a great place to stay!

A Shore Thing

We happened upon Hutchinson Shores based on the location and after my partner had enjoyed a stay at a sister property in Clearwater. And now HS might be in our permanent rotation. An easy drive from Palm Beach airport, just enough time to disconnect from the real world and wrap up your work and emails! We also met people from our Northeast neck of the woods that fly into Melbourne for just a bit of a longer drive. And as our regional airport flies directly into Melbourne, we are already planning that for our next visit. From the moment we pulled up, the guest experience was elite. And guest experience is an area we both work in, in different industries, so we know when it's worth a rave review. Check in was quick, but not without making a discreet phone call to expedite our room, which was totally unexpected as we knew we were arriving far in advance of check-in, but incredibly appreciated! By the time we were seated at Drift for lunch and had just placed our cocktail orders, we received a notification that the room was ready! We booked a king pool view with lanai, which in my opinion is the unsung hero room of any resort property. We had a patio with a latching gate providing direct pool/pool bar access. Perfect for when you need the restroom, sunscreen application, take a necessary call, etc! The Reflections (larger) pool with hot tub is gorgeous and there were always a plethora of available chairs. Zero chair game needs to be played here. Always plenty of towels and a towel attendant available. But not to miss the Dune pool too, which sits below Drift and has close beach access. It's smaller but gives you the background sound of waves crashing! And if you're a fervent beach-goer, you'd be nicely situated at the Dune pool to run back and forth between beach and pool like I did. The Reflections pool has beach access too, just past a small game area with chess, ping pong and cornhole! Just a hair longer of a walk. Both (yes, both pools have one!) pool bars and attendants were outstanding. Specifically, because they played a pivotal role in making the trip experience what it was: Wendy and Kimberly at Reflections, and Marley at Dune. Wendy was always so available to us in general, no matter where we were. Always checking in by name and by day two knew our favorite cocktails. This, people, is why you stay here. Pool service at the chairs was frequent, but we also enjoyed pool bar hopping too! They even come to the beach chairs! We ate multiple (read: almost all) of our meals between the pool bars and Drift, and nothing was short of spectacular. Drift had a good crowd every single night, so you know it's popular! The menu is incredible and no matter what you're in the mood for, they have it, and it's amazing. The Coconut Daiquiri Martini (I had it on the rocks) and the Oceanside Mary had a permanent place in my blood type by our departure. The way Drift is set up, with all sorts of seating nooks and a beautiful bar plus outdoor seating overlooking the pool and ocean, you can come every night without it feeling stale! The servers here were also amazing - Tamera was a standout but again, they all were stars in their game. We also did room service for breakfast one morning which was promised in 30 minutes and delivered in 15. Another moment of over-delivery! When we finally decided to venture off property on our second to last day, the Ubers were quick, plentiful and inexpensive. You can get to the downtown area with bars, cafés and shops in three miles and around 10 bucks. But hey, if you don't decide to leave the property, nothing is a greater feeling than rolling yourself back to your room after a great meal at Drift. Perhaps with a stop at one of the fire pits that illuminate in the evening! Even though we didn't need to valet, we always saw them hustle while we'd wait for our drivers - and they were wonderful in assisting with our bags at arrival. I feel like Opal must have some sort of secret "no waiting" training for their employees. Because waiting was one thing we never had to do, for anything. We happened to luck out with the high 80's Florida weather we enjoyed in January, while also escaping winter storm Fern in Pennsylvania. But it's no doubt the experience we received was not from luck, but from a talented and passionate team of hospitality professionals who did their brand right for two snowtrodden travelers; and made us raving fans of the Opal experience.

Unfortunately won’t go back

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

I unfortunately have to write to due to how bad of an experience I had here recently. I have been returning to this resort several times with my family and several friends. Was always great till now. The night before our stay they called us the night before telling us our room isn’t available because they overbooked. Meanwhile we booked this resort over 6 months ago. They were rude to my wife on the phone and was basically telling her to just cancel her trip which would be unfortunate since we had four other families coming with us. They were telling us maybe someone in our party will give up their room then to accommodate us. After they said they can accommodate us we would have to switch rooms during our stay. Which was unfortunate since I have a 2 year old who needs to nap and had to be out of the room. I got moved to a room that must of had a dog in there because my kids allergies were acting up that night. I asked to speak to resort manager and front desk basically brushed it off and said they can come clean the room again. I said at that time no because my son was taking a nap. Told them to come after 1400 then. At 1401 they showed up and walked in the room even when I had the do no disturb sign on the door and woke up my son as they walked in. Wife called guest service again and they were rude to her once more. I tired to speak to manager each day I was there and was brushed off. It’s very unfortunate to have this experience considering how excited we were as a family to go. Unfortunately I will not be going back even after we have stayed there several times already.
