Perched high above the desert capital of Jodhpur, Umaid Bhawan Palace is the last of the great palaces of India and one of the largest private residences in the world – set amidst 26 acres of lush gardens. Designed by renowned Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester, the palace is a blend of eastern and western architectural influences. Its majestic 105 – foot high cupola is influenced by the Renaissance, while the towers draw inspiration from Rajput tradition. The lavish interiors with gilt furniture and elegant artwork follow the Art Deco style, complemented by the exotic murals by the self-exiled Polish artist Stefan Norblin. In 1997, the palace was converted into a luxury hotel, and is now managed by TAJ. With this, the TAJ extends its grand luxury palace experience to the city of Jodhpur.

We stayed in the Palace to celebrate our wedding anniversary… Taj never disappoints! A property worth staying atleast once in your entire lifetime. Right from the majesticness of the palace to the warmth of the very hospitable staff, everything was perfect. The rooms were royal with a modern touch, giving one the feel of living like royalty. Would love to take a moment to appreciate the very professional staff. Sikander ji who gave us the entire tour of the palace and made sure we did not miss any corner… Swaroop ji who made our anniversary even more special. Mr Karan, for his very warm and cordial demeanor and lastly special thanks to Chef Shobhith Mathur for checking in again and again and presenting us with delicacies that stay on your palate for a long long time. A stay at Umaid Bhawan is worth for its location, its atmosphere, its environment, the lovely musicians, the food, the services, the room, the views. All in all a great experience and our best wishes to the entire team and family of Umaid Bhawan Palace hotel under the able guidance and planning of Mr Amit Singh the GM under Taj.

Our stay at Umaid Bhawan Palace was nothing short of extraordinary. Against the fierce summer heat of Jodhpur, the palace felt like a cool, serene oasis — its soaring domed ceilings, marble corridors, and shaded courtyards keeping everything calm and comfortable. The suites were the highlight: spacious, elegant, and steeped in old-world grandeur, with period furnishings, plush bedding, and lovely views over the manicured gardens. The blend of Art Deco heritage and genuine luxury made it feel less like a hotel and more like being a guest of royalty. The mornings were just as special, thanks to Saddiqui ji, who served us breakfast at Pillars, the open-air buffet. Always greeting us with a smile and anticipating our every need, he turned each meal into a delight — and dining in the open air with the palace grounds before us was the perfect start to the day. Another highlight was the evening palace tour given by Sikander Singhji — a warm, knowledgeable guide full of fascinating stories about the palace's history and the royal family. Walking the halls at dusk with such a passionate storyteller was unforgettable. Impeccable service, an unforgettable setting, and a blissful escape from the heat. We left already hoping to return. Highly recommended.
