A lovely place to relax

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We had a lovely overnight package here, consisting of a premium room with 2 queen beds and a fireplace, a bottle of wine and breakfast. Our room was ready at 2:30 pm. Suite 11 is huge with a high ceiling, a large bathroom with separate jacuzzi tub and shower, a separate seating area with a loveseat, two chairs and coffee table, facing a fireplace and TV overhead. Thick towels, fabulous water pressure, comfortable bed and linens. Although there isn't a desk in the room, there is a large lounge area outside our room with more sofas, another fireplace and a desk. Be aware that there isn't an elevator to the second floor, but the staff will help with luggage if required. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at their restaurant across the street. There isn't a lot to do in Jordan; only a few shops and it was a very quiet Sunday afternoon there. However, we enjoyed relaxing in our spacious room after exploring the backroads and wineries in the area.

Relaxing Comfortable Get Away

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Had a fantastic overnight stay with my wife. Room was fantastic, clean and everything worked really well. Really appreciated the little touches they did to make our stay really nice including nice birthday chocolates when we arrived and rose left on doorstep as part of turndown service. Area was so nice to walk around. Exactly what we were looking for in a relaxing comfortable get away.

One of the most tranquil, beautiful hotels you could find The hotel is spotless in general & the rooms are equally perfect & well equipped We had a two story room this time & I can fully recommend this style of room with the bedroom upstairs overlooking the living area + it also had two toilets & one with an enormous walk in shower

NOT!!!!! Don't stay here!!!!!

My husband and I were looking forward to a relaxing “Chillaxe” getaway away from work and a change of scenery. We have more than nine long-weekend road trips planned this summer to places like Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Bobcaygeon, MacTier and Bala. We have stayed at other Vintage hotels a few years back and this hotel does not represent the Vintage Hotel standard. For these trips we specifically seek out boutique hotels that promise fine dining, a good cocktail, exceptionally clean rooms, updated amenities, and a relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience at Inn On The Twenty was the complete opposite. We arrived excited for our stay and especially looking forward to dinner at Inn on Twenty Restaurant. The village of Jordan Village itself is lovely. We stopped at RPM Bakehouse, which was fantastic. The coffee was excellent, they offered gluten-friendly treats, and it was a pleasure sitting outside enjoying the breeze and watching people stroll by. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the trip. We checked in at the hotel close to the suggested 3:00 PM check-in time and were given a ground-floor room with a private outdoor hot tub for two. On paper, that sounded wonderful. The moment we walked in, however, we were hit with a strong musty smell. The furnishings were described as antique but were clearly worn and poorly maintained. The cushions were tired and stained, the furniture looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in years, and the mini-fridge rattled loudly like a small engine. While the bathroom had a modern glass shower, the rest of the room felt outdated, neglected, and nowhere near the quality one would expect for a $565 stay. At best, it felt like a three-star room. Even worse, it was not the “Yellow Room” that I had specifically booked online. I had also pre-ordered a $28 snack package that was supposed to include popcorn, pretzels and olives. I fully understand hotel add-ons are priced higher than retail, but receiving what appeared to be a basic bag of white cheddar popcorn, a bag of pretzels, and extremely spicy olives that were practically inedible felt like a complete rip-off. My husband went to the front desk to explain that the room was unacceptable and not what we had booked. He was told the Yellow Room was “under construction” and that they could instead move us to a loft room. They did remove the $28 snack charge and helped move our luggage to another building. The new room was a second- floor loft facing the street and no longer included the hot tub. We were told they would not charge extra for the loft, although after checking later it appeared the original room was actually the more expensive one. They also left a bottle of wine as a gesture. At that point we tried to salvage the evening. We opened a charcuterie board we had brought, poured a glass of wine and attempted to relax before dinner. Then the final straw happened. As I sat on the couch, I saw a fairly large bug crawl out from under one of the cushions, across the sofa and down the side. I caught it in a napkin. That was the moment we knew we were leaving. I called the front desk and asked if a manager could come to the room so we could discuss the situation privately rather than creating a scene at the front desk. The Food & Beverage Manager came up and was genuinely kind and apologetic. She saw the bug herself. Whether it was a beetle or a roach, we couldn’t say—but a bug crawling out of furniture is more than enough reason to be concerned about what else might be there. We explained that we would not be staying. The last thing we wanted was to bring home bugs from a hotel stay. We were told a manager would call the following morning. At 9:30 AM she did. During the call she explained that the Yellow Room we booked was actually not under construction but had been booked by another guest. She apologized that we “didn’t like the room” and confirmed the stay would be refunded. She also offered to personally handle a future booking if we wanted to return. What stood out most about that call was that the bug was never meaningfully addressed. While we appreciate the refund, the overall experience was incredibly disappointing. Between the misleading room booking, the dated and poorly maintained accommodations, the musty smell, and the discovery of a bug crawling out of the furniture, this stay was the opposite of the relaxing boutique hotel experience we expected. Aside from the Food & Beverage Manager, who handled the situation with professionalism and kindness, the rest of the experience fell far short of expectations. We may return to RPM Bakehouse someday because it truly was wonderful. However, we will NOT be returning to Inn On The Twenty.
