I celebrated my wedding at Hotel Hemingway in Juan Dolio, and unfortunately the experience was awful. The property itself is beautiful, but the management is extremely poor. My husband, our wedding guests, and I stayed at the hotel, and many of us became seriously ill. My husband actually collapsed during our wedding due to how sick he was. My in-laws were unable to attend the celebration because they were suffering from severe stomach pain and vomiting. This was clearly related to the food consumed at the hotel in the days leading up to the wedding. Even guests who were not staying at the hotel became sick after eating the food served on the wedding night — including our photographer. The chef may have impressive credentials, but the way food and/or water is handled is completely inappropriate. However, the worst part of this experience was the management. They showed no concern for people’s health and only seemed to care about money. No one from management took responsibility or spoke with us. I even requested to speak with the chef on the night of the wedding, and he never showed up. We filed a formal complaint and did not even receive an apology. Their response was that they “couldn’t do anything due to lack of evidence,” despite the fact that I provided communication with a doctor regarding my sick family members. Some of them were forced to extend their stay because they were too ill to fly, and hotel staff witnessed my husband collapse due to his condition. This was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of our lives, and it was overshadowed by illness and complete lack of accountability. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great place would recommend and stay there again . Minor set back WiFi was weak but it worked. The entire area is spotless and the staff the friendliest of all resorts. Dinning is #1 .

This place is beautiful but I will never go back for one simple reason. They have a trash receptacle adjacent to the next door neighbor that should be refrigerated because they throw food in it and they don’t pick up the trash daily. This lack of maintenance has caused a large amount of rats, mosquitoes, and all sorts of things. The smell is so strong it reaches the common areas and the corner. When I was there I overheard a neighbor begging a Hemingway leader to remediate this health hazard but they simply dismissed this request. If they don’t care about the sanitary conditions of their property and community then they must not care about the cleanliness of their own kitchen which unlike this trash receptacle is not out in the open.

What a gem of a spot! This was our second time visiting Club Hemingway in Juan Dolio... but the first time we actually stayed at the hotel... and let me tell you, it won’t be the last. The place has a cozy charm and tasteful decor that makes you feel right at home. We stayed in a Junior Suite that came with its own kitchen (full size fridge, stove, microwave, etc), a washer and dryer (huge plus!)... and a sprawling balcony complete with an outdoor dining table and a comfy little sitting area to kick back and enjoy the breeze. The service? Top-notch. Hats off to Yaritza at the front desk... Felix at the restaurant... and Juan holding it down at the beach bar... they all went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and well cared for. Security across the whole Hemingway complex is buttoned up tight... so you can truly relax. The beach is just a quick five-minute stroll from the hotel... and it’s private... reserved just for Club Hemingway guests. There are five pools on the property (we only managed to stumble across three!)... plus horseback riding... fun activities... golf access... and even a charming little church on-site. The breakfast buffet hit the spot... good variety... hearty flavors... and made-to-order omelettes. I couldn’t resist the mangu and salchichón combo in the morning... absolute comfort food! Oh, and that bed? Like sleeping on a cloud...
