If Turtle Bay Resort's idyllic locale looks familiar, you might have seen Magnum P.I., the original Hawaii Five-O or Forgetting Sarah Marshall – all of them filmed at Oahu's fabled North Shore. The resort unveiled newly renovated rooms in 2014 that utilize cool Polynesian colors and natural rattan. Chase your pipeline dreams at one of world's premier surf schools or wander to the privacy of a windswept beach. Part of the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, Turtle Bay's waters offer sanctuary to whales, monk seals, green turtles and dolphins.

The Ritz-Carlton Oahu, Turtle Bay, was beautiful in every way!! The location was breathtaking, amenities were great, housekeeping employees were so friendly and professional, front desk personnel and concierge were welcoming and helpful. We happened to be at Turtle Bay when the tsunami occurred. Needless to say, it was very unsettling. However, the resort was prepared, handling the situation calmly and with transparency, keeping us regularly informed every step of the way. We felt safe and reassured and were thankful that there were no injuries or damages. All in all, our family agreed that our stay on Oahu was a trip of a lifetime!!

Wonderful stay, service is what you would expect at a Ritz. Highly recommend bike activity as well as using both the pool and the cove. Only issue with the pool is you need to expect plenty of kids. Did two restaurant nights and because we had a balcony overlooking the ocean we ordered up room service and enjoyed the sunset and it was the right alternative to more restaurant nights. Highly recommend to rent a car. We did all our lunches off property and we also did Waimea falls

I never thought I’d leave a review like this — but I owe it to other families, especially those travelling with neurodiverse children, to speak plainly. Its taken me four months to even take enough strength to write this, what happened was severe, and inexcusable. My daughter is still unwell, and I still remain with injuries. During our stay at The Ritz-Carlton, what was meant to be a long-saved, joyful trip as a single mother turned into a traumatic experience. Due to a hotel-hosted party, my daughter and I were physically thrown through the air. She is neurodiverse and was visibly distressed. Instead of offering care or even checking if we were injured, the response from staff was not just dismissive — it was dehumanising. A security guard approached us not to help, but to imply that because of my daughter’s disability, the incident somehow “wasn’t a big deal.” I was told later that he would be “educated” — but that doesn’t undo the moment where my child’s trauma was downplayed. No medical assistance was offered, despite multiple requests. I filled out an incident report, which I was later refused a copy of. I was passed off to the hotel’s insurance company who, incredibly, offered me a $500 voucher — as though my child’s distress and my sustained injuries were a minor inconvenience. I want to be clear: I didn’t ask for compensation. I asked for care. For dignity. For someone to treat us like people who had just been hurt. Instead, I was made to feel like a burden — or worse, as though we had done something wrong. To other families, particularly those navigating the world with disabled children: please be cautious. This hotel failed in its basic duty of care — and no luxury service or brand name can excuse that. No family deserves what we experienced at The Ritz-Carlton. As a single mother travelling with my neurodiverse daughter, I expected safety, compassion, and a baseline level of professionalism from a luxury hotel. Instead, we were physically injured, blamed for it, and ultimately abandoned. I would welcome direct contact from someone with decision-making authority who understands the seriousness of this incident. I would consider amending to reflects accountability and care not just PR damage control.

If you read some 4 or less star reviews, I get it, will do my best to explain. Yes it’s a R-C and you do EXPECT certain standards for this brand. Do you get that here, no, but not 100% no. First, know that RC bought this place AFTER another company remodeled it. So it’s like buying a remodeled house that wasn’t completed remodeled. We stayed here in 2018 and not much has changed (as a former commercial contractor, I don’t see what $250 million was spent on) I feel a big drawback is this place is it’s old, and looks like a hospital building, it was built in the 70’s and it fits that very sterile 70’s style. The rooms are not great, you can hear everyone next to you, and as someone wrote, the beds and linens are not RC standard, and even though housekeeping in each day, the room has this “dirty” feel to it, again maybe the age. The big rolling wave photo/wallpaper is so lame, it’s like a bad motel thing. The grounds are clean but very basic, I think the nicest feature of hotel is the lobby. We are not lobby people, but it’s nicely decorated and we enjoyed a few nights listening to a musician, having drinks and bites, and playing games. The staff here is great, that’s definitely an RC trait. We here for the tsunami and the staff were all professional, and I’m sure worried about their own families, but the hotel went above and beyond ensuring guests safe and provided a free buffet since all the restaurants closed. The spa is really nice, but note to staff, I don’t think people should be allowed to have their phones in the common relax area, and the two chairs by the window of the massage rooms, people shouldn’t be allowed to talk as I was able to hear several people chatting away like they were by the pool, and these were not peoples walking by on path. The adult pool is okay, it’s often used as a short cut for guests and kids so kind of defeats the purpose of a quiet relaxing area. There is also only one true restaurant here, and it’s the all day restaurant, which for most hotels, is always good, but not great. We had dinner one night and though nicely prepared, the food itself was average. The best is the fresh baked sourdough bread! My quandary is, would I stay here again? Honestly, no. Not for the price point. That said, I may come “off season” like a September or April/may. We travel to all the islands, and definitely have 2-3 resorts we prefer over this. The location here is great, with many nice beaches and snorkeling 10-15 minutes away, but the north shore has lost a bit of its “rural” feel. If RC really does a major room overal, and resurfacing of building and grounds, maybe, but for now, there are other island spots I’d prefer, as well as other RC locations.

My stay at Turtle Bay was exceptional. The resort's welcoming atmosphere was apparent the very beginning. The front desk staff were the best I’ve ever experienced in all my years of travel — with a very special shout out to Marlena and Karen. Marlena made us feel like family from the moment we met, and every-time I walked by or saw her on the property. EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. The oceanfront rooms were spacious, clean, and well-decorated. The beds were comfortable, great pillows and love the fluffy comforter. Shower pressure was perfect. The housekeepers were incredibly friendly and gracious, wanting to help or please you at every turn. The beach attendants were also super helpful and friendly. Oh, I should mention the Club Lounge staff — Riley remembered my name after meeting him just once and he greeted me everyday with such kindness and care. I can’t say enough about the staff at this resort. First class, top notch. I can’t wait to return and see Marlena and Karen.
