Think twice about going to Fourseasons Oahu Ko Olina

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I’m furious and heartbroken. For two days straight, unbearable wedding noise blasted from the other side of the resort, turning what should have been a peaceful stay into constant chaos. The staff did nothing to calm the situation — they couldn’t de‑escalate an outraged guest or control the volume. For the price we paid, this was insultingly bad value. The resort must warn future guests about loud events on that side of the property so no one else has their trip ruined like ours.

Did I have to leave? The most perfect relaxing trip to Oahu West Shore! Easy ride on Thanksgiving day from HNL (get a driver). No traffic because of holiday so lucky. Check-in perfect- no available upgrade with Amex Plat but no problem because really happy I booked the full ocean view room. Huge room! Long hallway into room, large bathroom, big bedroom and full balcony with sea view. I don't know if I have ever slept so good in a hotel room. That bed is so comfy! Left the slider open all night to hear the ocean and feel the coolness. Gym in morning so great... favorite thing to get up before the sun comes up in Hawaii and go to gym. We also walked the 2 plus mile walking path along the lagoons at Ko Olina. More on that later! Gym is so nice and large upstairs so you can even do free weights outside in the fresh air if you don't want to do them inside. Plenty of room for cardio and stretching. Breakfast "buffet" (typical 4 Seasons first class buffet) and I would never call it that because it is beyond good.. salads, fish, pastries, homemade sourdough bread, eggs, Japanese breakfast, fruit... Just the best ever! Love Amex Plat because you get the $100 daily credit for this. The walking path at Ko Olina is the best in the morning. Not one bit of trash, workers cleaning the entire area. What I love is they don't use the gas blowers so it is quiet. I wish all cities could clean the park grounds and cities like this. Ko Olina is really a pristine master planned area where I felt more safe than I have anywhere else. Not one bit of riff raff. None. And guess what? I never saw a single policeman/woman. How about that??? That is actually relaxing! I would absolutely go here as a single woman and feel so safe. The lagoons they have here are so amazing. Really sheltered from the ocean and protected for swimming. Spa- wonderful! Clean and attendants abound. Massage just perfect. Fell asleep, my gauge for how relaxing. Noe Restaurant- so good, order the fresh fish of the day. Very healthy! Great wine options too. Mina- just ok... his restaurants just are lacking lately. I think he is too big now. Pool bars- wonderful! Service top notch. They are on it! Yes, a Patron Silver Marg or a Mai Tai will cost you $30 with tip. But, so what. You are on vacation and they are really good. Build that into the cost of the trip. That is just reality now. Enjoy a drink by the pool! Adult pool- Wow!!! Wow!! Infinity edge with prime ocean view and the smell of plumeria in the background. Why does Hawaii smell so good? Ask AI and it will tell you it is a real thing that is smells good for a reason! Anyways, that pool is the best and glad it is adults only. Side note- way too many infants and bad behaved toddlers in restaurants. Glad they have adults only pool. If kids bug you on holidays, I suggest going non busy holidays. Don't expect a romantic dinner anywhere because these kids are in all venues in high chairs throwing things and parents constantly walking them around restaurants. Coffee place upstairs I love! Afternoon espresso and the girls always remembered me. The grounds at the hotel are immaculate and just relaxing to walk around and be in the palms and hear the birds. I can't say anything bad about this hotel stay! Will absolutely come back. Side note- used to be a big Caribbean person but I am back to Hawaii where it is the US and feel very safe in the islands no hustle no feeling like you could get robbed or poisoned :). I say Hawaii all day long! Nicest people too in Hawaii!

Not a Four Seasons

Apparently no one can get the food right here. First night we got room service, bolognese was awful, I could cook better food than that. Second day we went to breakfast buffet. As I got to the bottom of my salad, I found a half rotten hairy green tomato staring at me. That left me with a stomachache all day. Then I guess I haven’t learned my lesson, we went to Mānalo Lounge for dinner. We ordered seafood tower, oysters were dry and mushy, crab claws were dry, and the shrimp cocktail wasn’t even deveined properly. When you drop four-season money on food, you do expect food to be sanitary and fresh. Food is definitely a huge disappointment here. I will cancel all my dinner reservations for the rest of the stay. All staff are really nice and accommodating. The highlight would be the kids club here and that would be the only reason if I ever stay here again.

We are currently staying here. The people next to us were smoking nonstop and it was coming into our room. We complained and they said they addressed it. Then it kept happening again and again and again. I got sick of it since the whole resort is non-smoking. I complained again and guess what they did? They did not kick those people out even though they TOLD US they had seen them smoking in the balcony! They moved us to a worst part of the hotel. It was over a LOUD bar area where we could hear the cutlery being used through our closed lanai doors. I have a very important interview tomorrow morning and desperately need a quiet room. I had requested a quiet room before we even checked in because I have insane insomnia. The second room's bathroom is not updated even though our other room was. Look at the photos. Dirty and old. They made us pack up and move even though the other people were the ones that were and are currently still violating the rules. After 3 days of nonstop smoking, I am now pissed. The manager just told me "don't talk to me like that". I never cussed at him or said anything personal to him. I just raised my voice when I was complaining about being moved to a bad room. Then he said he could not kick them out because he "needed more evidence" even though he had just told us that they had confirmed it was the people next to us. They had booked 3 rooms, we only had one so I know the real reason why they are not kicking them out is because of the money they are making for 3 rooms vs. 1. After I complained the first time, these guests also started harassing us by slamming their doors 4 times back to back at 4am!!!! It woke me up out of sleep. But no consequences for them. Only for us. We are made to feel so marginalized. I literally just stopped crying. They made us feel like they are doing us a favor by saying that they are giving us 2 connecting rooms instead of the one UPDATED club room. The manager kept telling us that he "had a thousand things to take care of today but that he was instead helping us." Even the first manager that I complained to the first time did nothing for us. She only offered to move us to, again, a room that was not as nice as our booked club room. Again NO consequences for the idiots that were smoking and creating issues for us because 4 four seasons wants their money for 3 rooms! This is not a 5 star hotel. They do not care. We are stuck here because it is thanksgiving week and most hotels are booked solid. They nickel and dime everything here. The food is $70 a plate and it sucks. This is one of the worst experiences we have had in a long time. They also lie about how you cannot take free drinks out of the club lounge. I was told it is due to the "liquor license" but that is a lie because they let you take the PAID drinks anywhere on the property. I am a lawyer and that is NOT how liquor licenses work!!! Again $$$$ is all they care about. We paid more than $13,000 for one week FOR ONE ROOM just to be treated like we do not matter. Even when my kids needed to take an online exam, we asked them if we could use a small conference room for my kids, they tried to charge us $750 plus tax for 3 hours! I had to complain to them before they let us use it for free. The beach sucks since it is very sloped so you will be sliding down your beach chairs and your drinks will not stay on the table. The guests are also quiet trashy. I feel like I am on a carnival cruise. The rooms are dated. You will be ignored at the pools. The toiletries suck. Even the location sucks. Stay away. You are better off at a Hilton. I am trying to find a new hotel now so we can get out of here and try to salvage the rest of our vacation.

fantastic service, quiet location

This particular hotel was not as luxury as some four seasons, but it's still very nice and the service was truly outstanding. Every single staff member made us feel pampered. The smaller grounds made it easy to navigate with kids, and while my kids are out of strollers, many families with young kids were able to take their strollers to the pools which makes life easier. Appreciated the public trail system out front for long morning walks and a grocery store across the street.
