This was our first time staying at Playa Largo. From the moment we arrived at Valet parking, Javier and Ricardo warmly greeted us and made us feel instantly at home. We checked in with Daija, who did a good job giving us the needed information about the resort. Our room was lovely and clean; overlooked some palms and the pool. We enjoyed drinking our coffee on the balcony. We ate at all the resort restaurants and had fantastic food at each one. We especially enjoyed the Sol and enjoyed the ambience. The La Marea did not disappoint as our meals were superb; Jasmine was attentive to our needs throughout the meal and we even received a visit by the chef. Meeting GiamLouigi was a bonus! He is very pleasant and accommodating. Mika and Mark were also great managers that we met. At the sandbar, we were privileged to meet and get to know Tyler. He is a warm and caring bar tender. Hector and Manuel were also very nice. Los Olas was a great gathering place in the evening with live music and a place to meet others at the resort. Matt, the bar tender was attentive and a funny guy and made our evenings fun. Our continental breakfasts at LosOlas were surprisingly good, with excellent variety of breakfast choices; the fruit was excellent! Keneesha and Jackie were superb and very friendly. As we sunbathed around the pool,, Anna made sure we had the food and drinks. She was very attentive to our needs throughout each day. The resort provides water activities such as water boats, pontoons and jet skis - Blue Water Adventure. Jeremy and his wife and family own and run this and they are all very accommodating and friendly people with safety first on their list. We took a sunset pontoon ride in the Tiki pontoon which was awesome as well as a morning ride on the flat boats which gave us the lay of the land of the Keys. We even met up with a mom and baby dolphin that swam around and under our water boats. Jeremy also taught us about the ecological terrain indigenous to the keys. The Eventides at sunset were a nice way to end our day at the pool and gulf. This resort is situated perfectly for beautiful sunsets. We had a couple of chilly days which gave us the opportunity to explore surrounding areas such as Islamarada where we ate at Wahoo restaurant which had excellent fish. We observed a family of manatee in the surrounding marina. On the second chilly day, we spent a couple of hours at John Pennecamp State Park where we went on hikes on some of the beautiful trails. We don’t have one negative thing to say about our stay. We will definitely return to this beautiful and event-filled resort. Jeani and Mike Zaluski ( known as Mr and Mrs Z)

This is by far one of the most beautiful and wonderful places I have ever stayed. The pool is amazing just steps from the beach. It well maintained and the weather was perfect. The staff is so friendly and makes you feel so welcome. A local restaurant called Lazy Days was so delicious! Key lime martini was to die for with the Shrimp Scampi! I have been to many hotels around the globe and this place was really off the charts to me. I can’t wait to return here sometime soon.

Overall, I was quite disappointed with the experience at Playa Largo. Pros: Exterior when you first pull in the entrance is quite nice and scenic with the palm trees Quite decently appointed gym, though one of the treadmills was broken and there is a limited weight selection / non-cardio options Decent location being at a near halfway point between Miami and Key West, making it geographically a good jumping off point; also ideally located for snorkeling and scuba diving trip and very close to John Pennekamp park Cons: Zero security. The exterior doors to the buildings with the room and the elevators are not key card controlled. The lobby/common area, doors, and elevator in the building are dirty The elevator is slow and not well-maintained The room was not clean. The bathroom floor was dirty and there was mildew in the shower. The housekeeping service does not actually clean the room, but simply tidies. For example, the rug was dirty when we arrived and had not been vacuumed by housekeeping on our second day. I got a bit of make up on the sink before leaving and after being out for the day, I arrived to see the sink had not been cleaned nor even all of the dirty towels removed. There is a two inch gap under the room door which means you can hear when anyone walks down the hall, even if they are not being particularly loud. The photos of the "beach" are quite misleading. There is no actual beach to speak of. I was provided a dirty mug at the restaurant. Doors are not handicap accessible. For example, there is a ramp to the door in from the pool area, but the door is not electric and so cannot be opened without intervention.
