Located waterfront, Havana Cabana radiates Cuba's joyful and sometimes rebellious spirit, embracing the art and culture that famously seduced Hemingway and deeply influenced Key West. This was one of the most expensive hotels we’ve ever paid for. I have traveled all over the world in high end luxury to mid level hotels that far outshined this property. The positives are the bed was comfortable, the shuttles were convenient, the pool was nice and the staff were friendly. The negatives were the food was marginal at best, things just felt dirty, the room/bathroom were a bit run down (leaking sink, wonky shower head, stained chipped tub) and the toiletry items were very cheap. Exterior lights were so bright the flimsy thin curtains and window tint didn’t help. It was like a real spot light shining into our room all night (should install black out curtains). Just really unimpressed. Nothing about this hotel justified the luxury price.

The hallway is very nicely decorated and the rooms are in theme with everything related to Cuba. The room was nice, not enough space for our clothes though. The air conditioning was very loud in the room. We did not enjoy the music from the pool at all - during the day way too loud for letting windows open on the room, way too loud to be by the pool, and continues too late during the evening to rest at all. Of course in the price the breakfast is not included and the food truck proposals were not to our liking / we paid almost 45 dollars for 2 bowls of fruit (not ripe) with yogurt, a bad coffee and not even a real orange juice. We feel we payed way too Much for this hotel, where we could not enjoy neither the room or the pool.

I normally don’t leave reviews, but given the experience we had during what was supposed to be one of the most important weekends of our lives, I feel it’s important to share. My husband and I booked a stay here months in advance during a Cyber Monday promotion for our wedding weekend (Feb 19–23) in order to save money, since weddings are already extremely expensive. In total we paid $2,154.05 and specifically booked what was advertised as a Patio Premium King room, which was marketed as a larger upgraded room. When we checked in around 5 PM, the room we received felt significantly smaller than expected. What made this even more confusing is that we had also booked a second room at the hotel that was a standard queen, and that room was actually larger than the “premium” king room we paid extra for. Throughout the evening we experienced additional issues including air-conditioning concerns and difficulty finding parking. Between about 5 PM and 10 PM, we spoke with multiple front desk staff members asking if anything could be done or if we could be moved to another room. Each time we were told the hotel was fully booked and that relocation was not possible. However, we later learned that some of our wedding guests were relocated to other hotels because the property had been overbooked. We even asked if we could be moved to the same sister properties or apply what we paid toward a room there, but we were told that was not an option. Because the issues were not resolved, we checked out the next morning around 8–9 AM and had to find another hotel last minute, which ended up costing significantly more due to the busy weekend. Trying to resolve this afterward was another challenge. It took nearly two weeks of communication with both the hotel and Priceline. I repeatedly asked to speak with management but was told multiple times that the manager would be available the next day, only to be told they were not there when I called back. Christian eventually returned my call once during that entire time. When the issue was escalated, Lubos (Assistant General Manager) conducted a review but stated that our concerns were never reported, which was extremely frustrating since both my husband and I raised them multiple times during our stay. There were also conflicting statements between what Christian communicated by email, what Lubos stated in responses, and what Priceline told us regarding the refund authorization. While the hotel eventually issued a partial refund, the entire process was unnecessarily stressful — especially considering this occurred during our wedding weekend, when the last thing we should have been dealing with was scrambling to find another place to stay. I’m sharing this experience so future travelers — especially those planning important events or trips — can make an informed decision when booking here.

This is a lovely hotel with friendly and welcoming staff. The service was great throughout my stay. The only downside was that the rooms aren't very soundproof—at night, you can easily hear people talking in the nearby rooms or hallway. A bit more insulation would make a big difference.
