Getaways do not get much better than a stay at the The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island. Located on a stunning barrier island just a short distance from historic Charleston, South Carolina, this Preferred Hotels & Resorts property, part of the Preferred Hotel Group, is the island's Official Golf & Tennis Resort with five award-winning championship courses, a collection of hard and clay tennis courts, plus a variety of recreational activities for the entire family, from kayaking and nature tours to bicycling and seaside fun. It is no wonder that Travel + Leisure ranked it as the Top Family Resort. The accolades do not stop there. In fact, Golf World voted Kiawah Island Golf Resort the #1 Resort in the US, and Condé Nast Traveler gave its approval with a #2 ranking for Best Islands in North America and a #3 ranking for the Best Resorts in the US.

Very beautiful property! Service in restaurants is awkward and not first class. Every time we ate it was told we had to make reservations way in advance. Which didn’t make sense because they were about half full. Without exception even with reservation they mad us wait 5-10 minutes. It seems as if we were bothering them and making them work. There was no apparent need to make us wait other than they wanted you to. The food in each place we ate was extremely salty and not very good. The managers need to do some mystery dinning. The food was very disappointing and did not match with the classy resort. On vacation I want to be unscheduled and free. When we tried to book massages they told use people Make reservations 6 months in advance and there were no openings during our 5 Day stay. Which is incredible. Maybe they need more people so they can service their guest? Our room was nice and maid service.

This resort is very nice, and very beautiful, however it is immensely disappointing that 4 of their 6 car chargers have remained broken for over a year now. These are Tesla chargers, and are not free. The disrepair is putting guests at a deficit for the return home. A top-tier resort should be aware of this deficit it is presenting its customers.

Hotel itself is dated and showing. Security around the island are complete ass wipes...yelling if you ride bikes in the road...everything flooded. Shops closed 5 mins early and the teenagers working here delighted in slamming the door and flipping the closed signs. Pitiful TV in the lobby bar.

Jaime porch. Pretentious. Front of house run by kids. Servers were ok. Food not nearly as good as their attitude would entail. First and last impressions go a long way. First impression was horrendous. They call text abs email 7 times to make sure you are on time. Show up 29 mins early and they treat you like you have Covid. I worked many a front and back of restaurant and no matter how good the back is the front can kill the craft. Please thank you and no we can’t/but we can are lost arts. Look at Michelin starred across the country. If Applebees is the premier restaurant(good olace) , then these fine dining restaurants s better take notice.

We took our first trip to Kiawah Island this summer for our son's birthday and absolutely loved our stay at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. While a couple restaurants that were not in The Sanctuary proper were not up to snuff, everything within The Sanctuary itself was five-star! We chose to pay extra for a Club Lounge room - 100% worth it and we'd do it again. We certainly felt we got our money's worth for the extra cost of $150/night - it included a nice breakfast buffet, a "light fare" lunch buffet, an evening spread of hors d'ouvres and pretty great desserts, plus unlimited beverages (including a cool wine tasting machine of sorts, with a wide selection of wines to sample at your leisure). But it also meant having access to the quiet, friendly Club Lounge itself and the impeccable services of its staff. You do your private check-in with the Club directly, they book appointments and services for you, they assist if any issues arrive, and they bring you specialty coffee bevs, a little cooler for the beach, an extra to-go box, and so forth. Our room itself (#457) was roomy even with two queen beds and we had a terrific ocean view (on the far side of the hotel, so we weren't looking at other rooms - an added bonus). We actually only had the room serviced once the entire stay, but you could usually track down someone in the hall if you needed extra towels or bath bubbles. The beds were comfy, everything was very clean - though there were some wasps on the balcony. The beach itself is soft, powdery white sand - so not great for shell collecting, but perfect for long walks at sunrise and sunset (which we did every morning & night we were there). And honestly, very few people on the beach early in the morning - so we often felt like we were at a private beach all to ourselves. Just us and the seagulls. I did notice that the beach lounges with umbrellas filled up during the day. Overall, a strong five-star hotel stay and wish I could go back tomorrow. Thank you also for helping our son feel very celebrated!! I'll review the fabulous spa separately, as well as the not so fabulous golf course restaurants.

Our trip to Kiawah Island Golf Resort was the highlight of our year. Our room had an ocean view, which we took in from the rocking chairs on our balcony. Each day we started our day by walking/running on the beach, followed by an out-of-this world breakfast buffet, followed by more golf on the Osprey Point, Turtle Point and Ocean Courses, followed by a short siesta poolside, followed by dinner at The Atlantic Room. This was a fabulous getaway for me and my husband and we are planning to return soon!

My husband and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary at The Sanctuary Hotel on Kiawah Island in South Carolina. It could not have been more luxurious. We were greeted by an eager and accomplished staff, even though the property had been opened for just a short time. The spa facility was first-rate, the food excellent and the furnishings absolutely gorgeous with impeccable taste.

I have stayed at The Sanctuary Hotel several times - the property is wonderful with service that seeks to make the guest feel pampered and special. The spa has experienced staff who provide excellent services. The environment is warm and inviting with beautiful original works of art. Dining is a truly great experience, and the breakfast buffet is exceptional! The rooms are beautiful and well-maintained (ocean or garden view are both excellent). This is my favorite place - I can never wait to return, no matter how many times I visit. There is no place I would rather stay - a true Five-Diamond experience!
