Blue Mountain Lodge

The hosts Phil and Margi were very friendly and welcoming. We can't speak highly enough of them, gave us lots of help and advice to ensure we got the best out of our experience in Hazyview. The room was great and the breakfast, very kindly cooked personally by Phil, was delicious! 😋Not forgetting Margi preparing a packed lunch for our early morning trip into the Kruger park. Thank you both very much 🙂

My wife and I were fortunate enough to spend a week in the 'self catering' facility at Blue Jay where, as others have reported, everything is of the highest quality Phil and Margi provided directions from the airport which, despite the efforts of our Sat Nav, got us safely to the lodge. They also booked two safari's for us, got access to the Elephant Whisperers when the web site says there was no tickets available and provided much valuable advice regarding places to go and things to see in the local area. The lovely garden and pool areas were also a great place to relax and unwind Recognition is also due to the lodge staff who kept both our own accomodation and the entire lodge in such good order ..... Phil and Margi keep a tip box to ensure that gratuities are shared amongst them and I encourage visitors to acknowledge their hard work. To summarise this is a great place to stay

Our four-day stay couldn't have been better. The rooms are wonderfully designed. Bedding & linens are luxurious. Our breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. Hosts are friendly and helpful. We will happily return.

We planned our Kruger trip very last minute: 5 days, 4 nights. We weren't sure whether to stay inside the park or nearby, until we found Blu Jay Lodge on Booking and it immediately caught our attention. It turned out to be a great decision! Blu Jay is located in Hazyview, just 10 minutes from one of Kruger’s park gates, which makes it super convenient for exploring. You’ll definitely need a car to get around and make the most of the area. The entire experience was excellent. Phil and Margie are amazing hosts warm, thoughtful, and it was a real pleasure to chat with them and get to know them. We were even lucky enough to spend time with their visiting family our evenings sharing wine and life stories were a highlight. The room was spotless, very comfortable, and full of thoughtful touches that made us feel at home. Daily cleaning was impeccable, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful, with a lovely garden and a peaceful pool area perfect for relaxing. Margie prepared breakfast every morning, and it was truly spectacular. Phil also helped us book a safari with Elephant Herd, and the experience was unforgettable, the guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals, their behavior, and the local history. We left happy, grateful, and already wanting to come back. Blu Jay Lodge isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a place to enjoy an unforgettable South African feel at home experience. Delightful spacious, well furnished and equipped accommodation ( we stayed in the self catering unit), very caring and helpful hosts, good for day visits into Kruger and touring in the area. Thank you, Phil and Margie, for providing such a nice place.
