Magical mini- break

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

It really is such a magical place. I treated my husband for his 80th birthday and from the time you get inside the gates it’s just like a different world. Every inch of that huge mansion is perfection, probably the best restoration I’ve ever seen. Drinks and dinner were a real event, our two dinner guests just loved the whole experience. Breakfast was perfection. Only downside is that you have to leave the next day!! 😅

Breathtaking Estate!

Ballyfin is possibly the most beautiful place my husband and I have ever stayed. Our room was well - appointed with breathtaking views of the grounds and unique waterfall. Each meal was delicious and beautifully presented on china that presented like artwork. The staff made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. We particularly enjoyed the signature picnic, thoughtfully presented in a small retreat with a roaring fire overlooking the grounds. It was a special experience we will remember always. We highly recommend staying at Ballyfin and will most certainly return to this special place.

Ballyfin a secret gem

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

There are luxury hotels… and then there is Ballyfin Demesne — a true hidden gem tucked away in the Irish countryside that feels like stepping into another era. ✨ Originally built in the 1820s as a grand country estate, Ballyfin later became a private boys’ school for decades before being transformed into one of Ireland’s most exquisite luxury properties. The history and elegance can be felt in every corner of the estate. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking, with rolling lawns, ancient trees, peaceful walking paths, and a stunning lake that creates the most serene setting. You can even climb the tower on the estate grounds, and there’s a secret surprise waiting for you at the top. Every room at Ballyfin is uniquely designed with its own character and charm, making your stay feel incredibly personal and special. The indoor pool and spa are a fabulous retreat after a day of exploring the estate — peaceful, elegant, and indulgent in every way. And the dining experience? Truly Michelin-worthy. The chefs walk through the gardens daily, hand-picking fresh herbs and vegetables that are transformed into an unforgettable fine dining experience each evening. Every detail here is thoughtful, refined, and beautifully executed. Ballyfin is not just a hotel — it’s an experience, a retreat, and one of Ireland’s best-kept secrets. 🍀

Poor restaurant service with limited choice of menu. Hotel was overpriced compared to others in this category For example, Gleneagles in Scotland is far superior .
