Hyatt Regency Cologne

A wonderful property with a highly professional staff. We ate at 3 of the hotel restaurants and ordered room service. Great food. Excellent attention to detail. The housekeeping staff was excellent.

Let's just say. I was a paying customer at a 5 star hotel. But for no reason I was treated like a piece of garbage by their staff. My breakfast experience was atrocious and pathetic, where one German speaking staff came and grabbed my plate without asking for permission; I had to step aside to let her through and she didn't even bother to say "thank you". However, if she was the same to everyone else's I wouldn't have been so triggered and mentioned about it, but she was smiling and joking and laughing with every other German speaking guests except for me, a non German-speaking Asian guest. The hotels also very dated with limited parking. However, my room was spacious. My piece of advice is, unless you speak German, and white. I wouldn't attempt to stay there. It was one of my worst experience at a Hyatt facility ever in my life.

This hotel was our go to for several years.. from the bell man, Joe welcoming us , to our having the corner suite with the view of the DOM, then enjoying a cocktail at the bar with Felix and Dominic making sure we were comfortable. This time around I didn’t get the warmth.. especially at the bar. I went , on my own to have a drink and some food and the woman bartender who gave me the menu but never came back to get my order was totally opposite to what I was used to. Quite disappointing really. I won’t be coming back to this bar. On the other hand John at the Lounge was so friendly and made sure we were getting what we wanted.. from the white wine, etc and would say, see you tomorrow.. There have been major upgrades done but the washrooms are tiny and same same after all these years. The gym also had a major upgrade with their cardio equipment however the multi gym needs to be replaced with something more user friendly. Maybe I will see you next time.. maybe..
