Hyatt Regency Cologne

Okay so this hotel could easily be a 5 star as it is a stunning hotel and situated with a stunning view of the bridge and Dom. However, there are two issues i have one minor and one major. Minor: First is that one Legends Bar is vastly overpriced. A 300ml 7UP for my son was €5.70 and a 400ml Kolsch for me was €6. This makes lemonade more expensive than beer. Also a bottle of wine was about €20 more expensive than the exact same bottle at the hotels own bar outside called Sticky Fingers. Major: payments being held on account / pending payments. During a 7 night stay here having paid for 3 rooms in advance they insisted on holding around £2,000 on account and furthermore every subsequent spend triggered more payments on account. This resulted in about 10 individual payments on account come check out. I’ve now checked out and cleared my bill but still have all these payments on account and emailing the hotel to get them cleared. I know you may be thinking why didn’t you pay as you go. Well we did try but on several occasions weren’t able to including one large bill at Grissini because we had waited so long for food (a 3rd bit of feedback) they had closed the till. Don’t get me wrong in every other way the hotel is amazing and staff are very friendly and i suspect this payments on account is a symptom of being a US owned company. This aspect alone will definitely make me think twice about staying at a Hyatt Regency again as i significantly don’t like it whatsoever. It’s excessive and frankly i don’t trust them to resolve all these holds accurately. Still waiting for them to be cleared and so in addition to my email i hope they can do that promptly.

Slow check-in. Poorly cleaned rooms. Unbeatable food in the bar. Bad cocktails. Poor WiFi. Boring minibar. By far the worst Hyatt I’ve ever stayed in. At least the staff were somewhat friendly.

I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude to the team at Hyatt Regency Cologne for making my recent stay truly unforgettable. Using my employee nights was a treat, but it was your exceptional service and warm hospitality that made it truly special. From the welcoming smile at check-in to the attentive staff who ensured everything was just right, I felt like royalty. A special gratitude to Leonardo and Patricia at the breakfast and to Louise at the restaurant. Thank you for creating such a wonderful experience. I'll cherish the memories and can't wait to return!

The Hyatt Regency Cologne never dissapoints. We have been to a lot of Hyatt propoerties, and it is 100% in the discussion as being the best Hyatt we have stayed at. Every person there is on a mission to make your stay as good as possible. The fact that they have kept the Regency Club is a huge part of that (when so many locations have got rid of the club, especially in the US).

I was woken by the person in the room next to me on account of the very thin walls. I could hear everything he was doing such as even hanging clothes on a hanger. It disturbed my sleep and ruined the following day for me. I told the staff on leaving but she didn't see to care. The shower was very confusing to turn off and I almost burned myself trying to turn it off. I found the cleaning staff to be very noisy in the morning and I could hear them from as early at 9:00. I think they should be more respectul to customers at this hour. Overall not impressed.
