Hotel Heaven

From the minute you arrive through the gates of this amazing hotel with its beautifully manicured gardens complete with the sweeping pond filled with koi, lily pads and lotus flowers, you’ll get an inkling that this is a very special place. The greeting, smiles and helpfulness of all the beautiful reception staff is unlike anything I have experienced before. Literally ALL the staff at this wonderful resort cannot do enough for you. GM Thomas Boehringer has done an incredible job bringing his team together in such an effective way. Their only aim is to give you the best possible holiday experience. Nothing is too much trouble and any concerns are dealt with immediately and effectively. I was meeting up with my 22 year old son who is away on his gap year. He had a garden room and I had a sea view room both spacious and very well equipped with balconies. Beds were really comfortable (medium/firm mattress) and we slept very well from the first night. Air conditioning was very effective and there was also a ceiling fan if you don’t like the room too cool. The pool area was lovely with lots of sun beds available every day. There was no scramble for beds and the hotel operate a sensible ‘no saving’ policy. If beds look reserved with a towel or items for more than 30 minutes, those items are removed. When I was doing my own research on TA for this holiday, a criticism was about the lack of availability of sun beds. All of these criticisms were guests who came in high season. Staff at the hotel told me that there are more beds than rooms. Working on the basis that not all guests go the the pool all day, I’m not sure that this should be a problem. It certainly wasn’t our experience. Just down the steps from the pool to the beach you can get a Thai massage (not connected to the hotel). The one I opted for was full body with coconut oil and cost about £8. A truly dreamy experience with the sound of the ocean in the background. We also got a neck and shoulder massage in the hotel spa. Whilst more expensive than the beach, this spa is truly beautiful set amongst palm trees and lily ponds in a beautiful oasis feel environment. Room service operates 24 hours and the menu was extensive, interesting, prompt and very good. Truffle mayonnaise and basque cheesecake were highlights. Breakfast here is really wonderful. It would be difficult to imagine anything they could add to the menu. From freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices, Thai dishes, dim sum, gyozos, chia seed puddings, full English, fabulous patisserie and eggs any way you can think of this was one of the best hotel breakfast buffets I’ve ever had. We were always full till dinner! This is a meal I can’t comment on as we went out every night. The hotel is incredibly well situated to benefit from the Fisherman’s Village where restaurants, the night market and shops open very late are in abundance. We tried to fit in as many experiences as possible. Highlights were a trip to the local elephant sanctuary where previously exploited elephants, now in their dotage are lovingly nurtured. There are a few of these sanctuaries on the island and we went to the closest one to the hotel - about 10 minutes taxi ride away. We also thoroughly enjoyed an evening watching the Muay Thai boxing.

Very nice hotel

Having been to samui many times we decided to choose the Anantara based on location and reputation . It is true that some parts of the hotel are slightly dated but you also need to consider that this is a traditional style property and not a brand new contemporary hotel. We encountered a couple of issues during our stay, the balcony in our room was in need of repair and the pool had a film in one area which wasn’t pleasant. I reported the issues to the staff and the manager of the hotel contacted me personally to update me on what was being done to resolve the issues. Firstly Thomas (The Manager) arranged for us to move rooms secondly he informed me that the engineering team had investigated the issue with the pool and the pump system had failed in one part of the pool and needed the pool to be drained and excavated to repair. Not a simple job but this work would take place approximately 3 weeks after our departure. I accepted this explanation as the hotel was very busy and work needed to be planned. The hotel implemented a team of staff to employ an additional cleanuning regimen to ensure the pool was kept clean and it seemed to improve the issue. That’s the bad stuff. This hotel is very good. As other reviews state the management and staff are amazing and will do whatever is necessary to ensure your comfort. The hotel rooms and grounds not withstanding the above comments are immaculately kept and the hotel is extremely well managed. The breakfast is beautiful, fresh and good quality ingredients with a vast selection to ensure all tastes are catered for The location of the hotel is ideal for this looking for a beach resort. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from fisherman’s village which has a good selection of bars and restaurants which is perfect for couples and families. The busier parts of the island are only a short taxi ride away and transport is readily available. I don’t think this location can be bettered if you are a couple or family. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Anantara I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel or returning for future visits

The staff went above and beyond on a recent stay-already can’t wait to return. I ate in the Thai food restaurant and it was absolutely delicious-wish I had a longer stay.

We booked a garden pool room for 4 nights boated from Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan. When we came to the entrance we face such a beautiful garden . Our room was facing between the garden and pool. Room was good size with a good size plunge pool . Resort is very close to the night life , bonus for the night life lovers. Check in and check out was easy , over all we faced no problem during our stay
