Located on a secluded lagoon carved into Phuket’s quiet west coast, Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort is tranquil enough to while away days without leaving the private beach yet convenient to nightlife and attractions on the island’s bustling southern shores. Al fresco pleasures abound, from the panoramic views from private balconies to romantic soaks under the stars.

We absolutely loved our stay at Anantara Koh Samui. We had a standard villa (accessible by stairs only), and the room itself, bathroom and balcony are very nice and generous in size. Room: beds are large and very good quality, with mosquito nets, there is a mini fridge, a coffee machine with pods replaced daily, and a kettle. Balcony: the ceiling fan is very useful, and there are some sort of 'shades' that protect from insects and offer some extra privacy. Bathroom: has a separate air-con unit. The villas are on a hillside, however there are plenty of golf buggies you can call to take you throughout the resort - in fairness we never used them as we preferred to walk (missing the daily dog walks!), and the path to the beach was so nice, mainly in the shade and always a gently breeze around. Beach very clean, water crystal clear; beach cleaned by staff throughout the day. Plenty of sun loungers with umbrellas, and free access to kayaks - quite nice to visit the beach of the small uninhabited island in front of the resort (beware on the island there might be broken glass, etc brought by the tide) . Breakfast: at Ocean Kiss restaurant on the beach, superb selection and fabulous views, plenty of choices for vegetarians, as well. Fresh juice, lovely coffee. We also had dinner here, the food was really nice and well presented, but a bit pricey for us, and we explored the restaurants outside the hotel, one of our favourites was Khao Kate, 1 min walk towards Chaweng. There is also a 7-Eleven and a Tops Daily supermarket about 7-10 min walk. Also there is a taxi rank opposite the hotel, they charged us 300 baht for getting to the airport. Next to the hotel there is Palette cafe, which is very nice. Staff: couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Grounds: beautiful and well maintained. Luckily we didn't have issues with mosquitos, and there were no jelly fish whatsoever to be seen, so we could swim in the sea every day. Location: at the North end of Chaweng, it's more quiet, we loved it. The neighbours don't seem to look after their beaches so well, well done Anantara, you've created a small gem there! Fingers crossed we'll be back! And a small point about the airport: the departure is lovely, like a resort in its own right!

Even though the property has been around for over ten years, it’s amazing how well everything is maintained. The design, the facilities, and the room comfort all show great care and attention. Most of all, your team continues to impress us with their warm and thoughtful service — it really makes a difference.

Great resort, super friendly staff, excellent room with private pool. We stayed 6 nights but, could have stayed longer. We used it as a base to explore the island. We enjoyed a few of the restaurants and there was plenty to choose from for breakfast. The only negative was that there was a large group up to 20 staying from Eastern Europe who took over the beach and were very noisy and when asked politely to quiet down argued and swore at other guests. Resort staff had get security to attend to them. I don't really blame the resort for their behaviour.
