Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort

My wife and I went to Thailand for our honeymoon (Bangkok and Koh Samui). We spent 4 days in Bangokok and 11 in Koh Samui. Actually, I am writing this review whilst still in Koh Samui. I booked two hotels because I was not sure where we wanted to stay. I booked the Anantara Lawana hotel for our first 3 nights in Koh Samui. We arrived in the evening - our flight was delayed. We were greeted by RK on the front desk a very kind and personable man. We were given welcome drinks and asked if there was any special occasion for our visit. My wife told them it was our honeymoon. We were shown to our room. The following day we were upgraded to a lovely villa with pool, partly because I am a platinum member of the loyalty program but the upgrade was probably one extra level higher. I have to say that the service and the friendliness of the staff was exceptional, so much so that we wanted to extend our stay for more days than planned, however we had already booked (and paid for) our next hotel so we were sad but had to leave. I want to express our thanks to the whole team at Anantara Lawana. I mention RK, Eye and (the manager when we checked in - forgot her name!) Moona and Nikki at breakfast and Eric in Treetops which must be one of the best restaurant experience we have had (up there with Koral at Kempinski Bali), but there are other staff whose names I do not remember were equally kind and friendly. I think the culture and training of the hotel (or maybe the island) permeates through the whole team as everyone was consistently friendly and kind. I have travelled extensively around the world for many years and rarely am I moved to wrtie a review. Actually. I write a review if an experience is bad to warn others but this review is deserved. Do yourself a favour and book Anantara Lawana. They exceeded all expectations and made our family holiday very special.

Truly beautiful resort with exceptional service and I could not praise this hotel and the staff more highly. From helping my daughter recover her lost mobile phone from the airport on night one (nothing too much trouble) to the ambiance of the White Lotus bar (breathtaking vista with great coctails in the trees) on the final evening and everything in between. Just lovely.

We stayed at Anantara Lawana for 5 nights. From arrival to departure, we truly enjoyed our stay got the rest and recharge needed. We chose this hotel based on reviews to celebrate a birthday and we appreciated the extra touches to make us feel special. We chose to stay in the deluxe lawana room which was very spacious, with a big balcony to relax in. Although there is the option for golf buggies to take you around, we liked that the resort grounds is compact enough to walk around easily. During our stay, we can see that the property is popular with families (undersrtandably so!) but the layout of the grounds provided privacy and not feeling over crowded as you might feel in other resort set ups. We also like that it is so close to the airport (5 min car ride), without being in the flight path. Easy to call a Grab if you need to go out, and there is a pharmacy and some shops/restaurants nearby. F&B and service were the standouts - breakfast was a decadent start to the day. We enjoyed the buffets you'd want to see at a top resort, and also liked the a la carte options especially the Indian options - thank you to Chef! Irene and her team (Pop, Ree, Muna just to name a few) were all very attentive and friendly every morning. We enjoyed happy hours in the evenings at the Sandal lounge. Look out for special events e.g. live music, fire show, performances. Special mention and thank you to Joy! The beach and pool are set up well with a water station & sunscreen provided - wonderful place to spend whole day, with options to take out a kayak or SUP. For early risers, the sunrises are beautiful! The staff (Khai, Torn) were great. Massages at the spa - what a treat. Thanks to Mint, Noom and May for their help and care. Nice to see that aloe vera and pandan is grown on site too! The hotel offers activities throughout the week which I recommend - the sunrise kayak and herb/garden tour were particular highlights. It's also good to learn about the property's eco initiatives. Boxing, yoga were options I didn't get to try this time. I understand there will be more/new activities soon. We plan to return, so I look forward to trying them out then, as well as dinner at Tree Tops which sounds like a great experience!

Amazingly beautiful resort! The service is what stands out the most, complemented by the clean/beautiful facility, a shallow/calm beach, and the convenience of walking to the nearest island. Would go back with my family any day!
