Just returned from 10 nights in this amazing resort which truly is a little piece of paradise. The hotel is very well located close to the airport yet bizarrely we never heard a plane. It’s set on a hillside in tropical jungle surroundings overlooking a beautifully clean, immaculately maintained beach with warm crystal clear waters. The breakwater forms à very safe lagoon at low tide perfect for bathing, kayaking, paddle boarding etc. Buggies are provided for guests literally at à click of a finger. We had a pool suite with plunge pool and swing which was kept pristine by the room maids and was fairly well appointed although a bit more clothes storage would be welcome (but that’s a very minor point). Mosquito repellant, suncream are provided in the rooms which was very welcome. Food in every on site restaurant was exceptional with the Tree Tops being the absolute pinnacle and was an incredible culinary experience, not cheap but worth every penny. Breakfast was quite simply amongst the best we have experienced. The infinity pool area and beach are so lovely with ample sunbeds in the shade. Even though the hotel occupancy was at 95% we never had a problem finding one. Guests get complimentary use of Kayaks and Paddleboards for one hour à day which is great fun. Location is great for Chaweng Town and Fisherman’s Village and both are easily accessible by taxi right outside the hotel at very fair prices. There are also some nice and very reasonably priced restaurants within an easy 5 minute walk of the hotel. Our personal favourite was the Sala Thai directly opposite. Evening entertainment is low key but fits with the relaxing laid back vibe of the resort. The Fire Show on the beach twice weekly is great fun. The spa treatments are excellent and reasonably priced. Excursions booked through hotel reception were excellent. Ang Thong Marine Park by speedboat was absolutely stunning and highly recommended. The only very minor criticism I would make is that our favourite drinking spot ( Sandals beach bar) closed at 10pm which seems a little premature. The Singing Bird lounge opens later but lacked atmosphere. Finally though the real stand out feature of the resort is the service delivered by the staff. We are seasoned travelers who like to be treated well and the hotel delivers 100% on this. The management team have clearly got recruitment and staff training off to a tee. This was consistently the best service we have ever received on holiday and every single staff member we encountered was so friendly, kind and courteous. A few mentions (apologies to those inadvertently missed): - Eak (Eric) in Tree Tops - so welcoming and courteous - RK in Cay and Ocean Kiss - really knows his food and wines and was so helpful - Irene the Breakfast Queen - the happiest person I’ve ever met! - Mint - so bubbly, friendly and charming - Tam on the beach - patiently taught à novice to stand up paddle board - Kevin on reception - nothing was too much trouble - Aom in Sandals - warm and welcoming on every visit And finally a big special mention to SKY in Sandals. So kind and helpful, sorted everything out for us and knew exactly what drinks we wanted without even asking. So the wonderful staff make this resort stand out from any other hotel we have stayed at and are an absolute credit to the management and the primary reason we will be returning in 2027. Although I was unfortunately unable to travel to Thailand due to unexpected international flight cancellations, I feel compelled to share my experience with Anantara Lawana Koh Samui. I had booked a non-refundable rate through Expedia, and despite the strict policy, the hotel management team reviewed my case with empathy and professionalism. After I provided documentation of the flight cancellations caused by airspace closures, they approved a full refund. Their response was prompt, kind, and extremely professional. From the moment I made my reservation, the communication was warm, efficient, and attentive. In today’s world, true hospitality is measured not only by luxury facilities but by how a hotel treats its guests in difficult situations. Anantara Lawana exceeded my expectations. Although I could not stay this time, I fully intend to reschedule my trip and will absolutely choose this property when I return to Koh Samui. Highly recommended for their integrity, service, and genuine care.

We recently spent 7 wonderful nights at the Anantara Lawana. Having visited Thailand in 1999 we decided we’d love to see it again after 25 years and it didn’t disappoint. We have great memories of Koh Samui and Chaweng Beach as it was and now, as it is. When we arrived at the Anantara Lawana we were met with welcoming smiles and first class service for the duration of our stay. Fern, who greeted us on arrival, had a lovely surprise for us in our room. We had a Pool Suite located near Reception so it was easy to find everything and we enjoyed the walk back and forth from villa to beachfront. Our Villa was very clean and beautifully presented and the bed was huge and very comfortable. It is also a nice touch to have the evening turndown, which some hotels no longer provide. Breakfast was a feast to behold, beautifully presented and delicious. It can be busy but the staff work tirelessly to make sure all guests are seated and comfortable to begin their day. A huge ‘thank you’ to Irene and her team for looking after us each morning. We enjoyed the Sandal lounge and the happy hour in the evenings where the quality of food and beverage was excellent and the staff made us very welcome.. We also had a lovely dinner in Cay which is Indian/Thai cuisine. The beachfront itself is stunning and spotlessly clean and the cleaning carries on discretely throughout the day. The pool/beach staff took really good care of us and we appreciated the extras like the water station providing cold drinking water, sun screen and extra towels were no problem. We had dinner at Treetops and chose to have ‘Embers of Earth and Ocean’. From beginning to end we were blown away by the beauty of the food presented to us and the taste sensation of every dish. The view from our ‘tree’ was amazing and we watched the sun go down as we enjoyed our drinks. Sublime. Special thanks to Fern (Reception), Irene (Breakfast) and Pik Puk (Treetops).
