Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui

There were pluses and minuses about our stay at The Garrya Tongsai Bay. From a Platinum Accor All Explorer Member perspective I was slightly disappointed. I booked the Garrya as an Accor Explorer Plus Platinum. The hotel was fully booked busy so we didn’t get an upgrade from Seaview Suite to the room I really should have booked (Hillside Pool Suite). Lesson learned! On arrival, we found out Explorer benefits are not provided (30% off food and 15% off drinks) They offered 20% off food only at Fishtails Restaurant. At least it covers the service charge and tax however it doesn’t if drinks are included. Also to get Accor points you must pay at the restaurant showing your Explorer Card - don’t put it on your bill. Unless very fit you need to take a buggy ride to your room then there were some daunting stairs without rails to navigate to reach our room. The room, a Seaview Suite was lovely. It was a spacious split level room with separate living area with a large balcony on the lower level (this room might be dangerous for small children and a challenge for the mobility impaired because of the stairs). There was a lovely view of Tongsai Bay from the. balcony. The bathroom is large (one of the best I’ve experienced and I’ve seen a lot of hotel bathrooms). There were two sinks and a makeup table with chair and mirror. Lovely smelling soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion were provided. The wardrobe in our room had plenty of hangers. Garrya grounds are beautiful with a nice private beach but it is very isolated from shops etc. it’s not really walkable unless very fit. The concierge will call a taxi for you. The pool area is lovely. There is a pool the very young, a shallow part of the pool for the older children and a deep main pool with lovely rocks undercover on one side. One downside for a noon-smoker is that smoking is allowed at the pool. We used the Fishtails restaurant for most of our lunch and dinners. We enjoyed the food and thought prices were reasonable. From 4pm - 6pm they have two for one cocktails (ask for the list as not all cocktails are included). The staff were friendly and looked after us very well. Staff who went that extra mile for us were: Kookik and Carlo at Breakfast Boo our room attendant Pla at the pool Jazz at reception All the Fishtails staff All the buggy drivers were lovely too

We had a wonderful time at Garrya. We have always loved staying in any of the Banyan tree group accommodation. Garrya is certainly a special place, the staff could not do enough for us, staff member Pal has worked there since it opened his nature walks are not to be missed very informative of the area. The rooms are spacious and clean, the view from our beachfront room were amazing!

Amazing resort! Stunning premises and staff that goes above and beyond. Every single member of staff was really caring whether at breakfast, dinner or just generally. Unforgettable experience

We spent 8 amazing nights in Garrya Tongsai Bay. The hotel has a private beach, with all the facilities that you need. Everything was great. The staff, the service, the food, the spa, and we didn’t want to leave the hotel, not even to see other places in Koh Samui.
