InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort

This is a long overdue review, but one I felt I needed to write owing to the amazing experience we had staying at this hotel. We originally booked a 5-night stay, however we were so impressed with the hotel after the first night we decided to extend our stay by an extra night. This stay was part of a birthday trip for my girlfriend so we decided to stay somewhere special. Upon arrival were greeted by Sun, who along with his colleagues were very friendly and professional. We were grateful to receive an upgrade on our room, and acknowledging my girlfriends birthday, she received a lovely bracelet which also gave discounts across the resort. Buffet Breakfast at Amber is excellent! So much choice. And both Amber and Flames offer great Lunch and Dinner menus. We preferred dinner sitting outside at Flames. Shoutout to Woody and his staff at Flames for lovely conversation and service. There are 6 pools on site, the infinity pool was adults only and the beach pool has a handy bar attached. Another shout out to Sean at the beach bar for great service. Our villa was spacious and well equipped. The small details of room service coming in each day and providing us with plenty of water bottles, or little treats left in the room was a nice touch. The resort is large so you may sometimes get a buggy to/from breakfast or the beach, but it is a nice walk if you're up to it. The location is on the quieter part of the island, perfect to switch off and relax. A free daily shuttle is operated to various drop points on the island, multiple times a day, so it is easy to get out and explore if you prefer. One only slight issue with the resort is the beach is not on you can swim in. It is lovely to sit by the loungers however and take it all in. Plus the gym, free sports classes and equipment hire allow you to enjoy the sea in other ways. A final mention goes to Martin, one of the managers who like all of the staff, made us feel welcomed and valued. I felt like the staff really took the time to get to know each of the guests at the hotel. I would throughly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a luxury experience in Koh Samui, away from the hustle and bustle of the main town. It was overall, an unforgettable experience for my girlfriend and myself. Well done Intercontinental Koh Samui! Examples of exceptional service: I cannot emphasise how exceptional the service, attentiveness and attention to detail is by the staff here. Prior to arrival, I filled out a little questionnaire and mentioned it was my girlfriend's birthday trip and first time to Thailand. I thought nothing of it, so amazed that multiple staff would bring this up in conversation without our mentioning it. Also, an hour after checking in we received a courtesy call to see how we were settling in. I was having some difficulty syncing my devices to the TV but said I would try to work it out. Within 5minutes, without prompting an engineer arrived at our door to help resolve the issue. And the next morning, a manager from that team found us at breakfast to apologise for the issue. Exceptional Service for what was a minor issue!

Wonderful return after 13 years It was great to return to InterContinental Koh Samui for the first time since 2013. The resort still has a wonderful sense of place, with a traditional, relaxed feel and one of the most spectacular settings on the island. The beachfront pool villas are a real highlight. They are spacious, private and beautifully positioned right by the beach, with your own pool and very easy access to the sand. It is a fantastic way to experience the resort. The property is built down a hillside towards the beach, which gives it amazing views but can make getting around on foot a little challenging depending on where you are heading. Fortunately, the buggy service makes getting around very easy. Down by the water there is a lovely jetty, which is a great place to enjoy the sunset, and on some evenings there is also a pop-up bar with beanbags. The sunsets here really are spectacular. Air Bar is another standout. Sunset cocktails here are almost compulsory, with extraordinary views across the Gulf. We also really enjoyed the Club InterContinental lounge. Afternoon tea and evening drinks and canapés were very well done. One member of our party is vegan and the hotel went to considerable effort to accommodate this, including special plates of vegan-friendly food at both afternoon tea and evening canapés, as well as a thoughtful arrival gift. Service throughout our stay was warm and personal. Special thanks to Marky, Jan and Lisa, who all helped make our return particularly memorable. Food was very good. We especially enjoyed Amber when we were in the mood for Thai food, and there was plenty of variety across the resort. InterContinental Koh Samui has a character all of its own. The combination of the beachfront villa, hillside setting, beach, jetty, excellent club lounge and those unforgettable sunsets made this a wonderful return after 13 years. We would happily return again.

We stayed as a couple in a room with a pool right on the beach. The hotel is absolutely dreamy, the view takes your breath away, and the service was fantastic — with a special shoutout to Marky for his excellent service.

A first class experience from the moment I arrived. Wonderful suite with a 180 degree view out to the ocean. Well appointed with a bathroom that also had an ocean view! The staff were always attentive and helpful. Excellent team in the Club Lounge. Both restaurants offer varying experiences with interesting and well priced menus. Air Bar is a must at sunset. A wonderful 7 days in paradise.
