About the Hotel

Teasing sparkling sea views over Choeng Mon Beach, Kimpton Kitalay Samui channels the island’s tropical charm with 138 rooms, suites and villas. In this village-like island enclave, we invite you to embrace the spirit of a community inspired by the sea. Feel revitalized by five bold and inventive restaurants and bars, a spa influenced by Thai wellness with a welcomed modern twist, and our relaxing, palm-shaded pools. Explore the island on a fat-tire bicycle, and listen to island lore in the Lanai Coves. After all, Kita means ‘song’ in Thai, and lay is a reference to the seafaring Chao Lay people of Thailand. Together, Kitalay conveys the meaning of ‘the song of the Lay people’ – a tribute to the community spirit native to the milieu. It is this easy balance of nonchalance and detail that we call island living, the Kimpton Kitalay Samui way.

Reviews for Kimpton Kitalay Samui

Hotel - WOW, Fish House Restaurant - DISAPPOINTMENT

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed at the Centara Reserve in Chewang but decided to check out another part of Samui, so based on good reviews and inclusion in the Michelin guide, made a reservation at Fish House and made the 20 minute trip to the Kimpton. WOW! Walking in, the hotel is architecturally stunning. We love the Centara but wondered if we should try this hotel next time for a few nights. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming on arrival and the infinity pool dropping into the ocean is a visual feast. Sadly, the food at Fish House falls very short. We are a family of 5 who LOVE food, wine and dining out around the world. Reviews indicated that the paella was a must try and we included that in a wide selection of 3 entrees and 4 mains. They were all very disappointing. Looked great - tasted - well, not good. The paella - what a let down. One prawn that was rubbery and not tasty, a mussel that was so tough we couldn't pry it out of its shell and just tasted like a small pan of crunchy rice with a jar of passata dumped on top. Entrees were OK. Bread basket was very good. Service was exceptional. We scored the food a 5/10 on our car ride back to Chewang. Its worth a trip but go to check out the hotel and the location but food needs to dramatically improve and I hope it does, because it has so much going for it.

Amazing property!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Such a beautiful resort and our family enjoyed the stay very much. Every staff member was wonderful, from the front desk team to the restaurant staff and the poolside service attendants. Definitely try the seafood dishes! We stayed at a Caribbean all inclusive on the same trip. It couldn't even compare. If it wasn't such a long distance from the US, we will always choose Samui and the Kimpton hotel for our vacation.

The only resort to stay in Koh Samui

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This property is highly rated on TripAdvisor, and after spending five wonderful nights here, I completely understand why. Koh Samui is a relatively small island, and this hotel is conveniently located just 10 minutes from the airport. Let’s talk about first impressions. The moment you enter the resort, the view is simply jaw-dropping. The stunning infinity pool appears to merge seamlessly with the sea beyond, while palm trees sway gently in the breeze amidst lush tropical gardens bursting with flowers. If someone asked me what paradise looks like, I would show them this view. The welcome drink deserves a special mention. It was a coconut water and lemonade blend created especially for the hotel, beautifully bottled and served on arrival. Quite honestly, it is the best welcome drink I have had anywhere in the world during my travels. The check-in process was warm, efficient, and effortless. Our room was spacious, modern, and beautifully designed, with every comfort you could wish for. The large bed was incredibly comfortable, but my favourite feature was the balcony overlooking the tropical gardens and the sea. Complete with a ceiling fan, it became our favourite spot to relax. We spent hours sitting there, enjoying the view, listening to nature, and feeling the gentle sea breeze. The main infinity pool is undoubtedly the star of the resort and one of the most beautiful hotel pools I have ever seen. There are also pool-access rooms connected to smaller pools. The beach is not private, but it is exceptionally clean and beautifully maintained. Several luxury resorts line this stretch of coastline, creating a lovely atmosphere. The sea here is calm, crystal clear, and perfect for a relaxing swim. Breakfast each morning was outstanding. The selection was vast, offering something for every taste, and we genuinely felt spoilt for choice every day. We used this hotel as our base while exploring Koh Samui, and it proved to be the perfect location. There are other restaurants at walking distance and a Seven Eleven shop close by. I am someone who pays close attention to cleanliness, I was particularly impressed by how spotless both the room and the entire resort were throughout our stay. We loved every minute of our five nights here and were genuinely sad to leave. If you’re looking for a luxury resort in Koh Samui with breathtaking views, beautiful rooms, excellent breakfast, a spectacular infinity pool, and outstanding service, look no further. Close your eyes and book this hotel. You can thank me later.

Amazing Kitalay

Amazing resort with amazing facilities. From the time we arrived we were well looked after by each staff we met. Very helpful with genuine smiles always. Our favorite and regular hangout spot was Shades bar. Wonderful drinks and the lovely talks with Farida and the whole bar team. We shared so many talks about hospitality and other things. They are excellent team and know how to engage with guests well. It became apparent about our drinks and they know exactly how I like my Aperol and Long Island for my friend. Hehe. We miss the laughter and all the staffs we encountered. Hope to return soon. Thank you Kitalay, you are amazing.

A wonderful stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had a wonderful stay at Kimpton Kitalay. The hotel is beautiful. The staff were absolutely lovely, attentive, and always ready to help. The breakfast was very good, as well as the food throughout the resort. We especially appreciated how family-friendly the hotel is while still feeling peaceful and relaxing for everyone. The only very minor downside was that the pool water was sometimes a bit warm, but that's understandable given the tropical weather. Overall, an amazing experience, and we would happily return!
