The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui

The Ritz Carlton is a beautiful and very large resort. We had a two bedroom terrace suite and were very impressed. It was very large and impeccably set out and equipped - it appeared pretty much brand new. Housekeeping were excellent. In fact, all of the staff we came across were very helpful and friendly. The spa was nice (though its standard 5 star pricing and you can get a great massage anywhere in town for a fraction of that). Both pools were superb. The only thing that needs a bit more thought (in my humble opinion) is the F&B offering. Breakfast was great, as was dinner at Rai and room service. But there is only one restaurant open for lunch (and the food quality and service wasn’t great). And very little that is Thai. They have a Thai street market themed buffet once or twice a week but it is way overpriced (£100 per head before drinks etc) and as a result lacked much atmosphere. And they also have a good steakhouse - but I dont travel to somewhere like Samui to get a £100 piece of steak to be honest. And only one of the bars was operational when we tried (the one without the sea view). So we ended up eating out a lot (and there are a number of great places with better atmosphere to eat within striking distance - both independent and at other 5 star hotels). It wasn’t terrible by any means, but given the standard of the rest of the offering it just felt like it had been overlooked a little.

I had an amazing time at the Ritz Carlton for my birthday weekend. The amazing customer service began before I even reached Koh Samui. Thank you, Beauty and staff for an amazing visit. I’ll be back!
