Topnotch service

First of all the location is super convenient withing tim tsa tsui. The room we got was really spacious. Thanks to our guest relations officer Amber Lee for the room and making sure we get to rest as soon as we arrive since we have to kids with us. We had treats when we got back that made the kids really happy. Will definitely choose shangrila again when we come back hongkong.

Terrific Hong Kong location

We had a great stay at this really lovely Shangri La Kowloon property with an easy walk to Nathan Road and the Avenue of the Stars waterfront walk to the Ocean Terminal. We did the Peak Tram at 10am and avoided the crowds. There are so many restaurants close by and we enjoyed the daily happy hour at the Tapas Bar within the hotel. The staff are all very welcoming and Amber helped make our anniversary a memorable experience.

Old Hotel in dire need of refurbishment

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed 5 nights in Kowloon Shangri La in a Harbour facing Club room 2123. Disappointed is the word - as I dont think it was worth the price. The Good Location is amazing. The staff are generally very nice and approachable. Room was spacious compared to Hong Kong standards. Public transport is nearby. AC is strong. The view is amazing. The shower is great. The Bad Halal Food The reason for selecting this hotel was because its Halal friendly as my husband is a Muslim. However besides having a prayer mat in the room, the concept of Halal food is all wrong. When we went for breakfast to M level on day 1, to my surprise all Indian vegetarian options were under Halal counter. No meat dishes were there at all. F&B team obviously thinks vegetarian food is Halal (which it is) however Halal means having non-pork dishes cooked with Halal meat. They have got it all wrong. The club lounge have no Halal food or vegetarian options either. everything is catered for Chinese guests. All other nationalities are completely ignored. The Club Lounge After staying at The Ritz Hong Kong and Conrad Hong Kong We were so looking forward to Shangri La Club Experience. It was horrible to say the least. Firstly, the lounge is very small. It can in no way accommodate all members. This causes major issue during breakfast, tea and dinner time. On three occasions we were told that there was no space and that we should wait for 30 mins. The food trays are also always empty. We have to remind staff to replenish everything from glasses, plates, butter, orange juice, scones - just about everything. they run short of food very quickly and the staff are always running like headless chickens. On two occasions I asked if anything vegetarian can be eaten and i was told there is sweet chestnut soup and some samosas. However samosas were all finished and never replenished in time. After waiting for 30 minutes I left. I asked about Halal food for my husband and was told Sushi is what they have. It was not worth spending on the room to include the lounge. During the breakfast service our coffee took always 30 minutes or more to arrive. The high tea finished by 3:30 pm. The funny thing is normally tea time is between 3 and 5 pm. So how can they finish by 3:30 pm? Similarly dinnertime finishes by 7:30 pm. Really??? What if I want to sit by the window and enjoy the view while nibbling on food? They close the club as soon as dinner service is over. The club lounge was huge disappointment and complete waste of time. How can they continue to operate like this is a big question mark. The Room The furniture in the room is from 80's with old dark wood panels. It felt like I was in my grand mother's house. The curtains are not hooked correctly and are not blackout. the light filters in from all gaps everywhere. The bathroom lock was broken and the door was jammed a few times. They did fix it after we complained. No drinking water bottles by the bedside. So if you want to drink water in the night you have to place a glass full of water by your bedside and pray that you dont topple it off. The beds are not plush like other Shangri La hotels. the room is tired, the furniture is full of scratches and all furnishings need to be changed. Not a room worth USD 500/- The Location The hotel is centrally located and I felt having MTR next to the hotel will be a plus point. However to reach main stations for Tsim Sha Tsui one must walk from the hotel station for 20 minutes to reach the main stations.Pretty inconvenient. We used the buses from the main bus depot next to the hotel. Verdict - I dont think I will spend so much money to stay in a tired hotel where they cant tell the difference between Halal and Vegetarian food. Their product is old and tired. Why is it not being renovated is beyond me. Very disappointing experience.

The concierge staff were incredibly friendly and patiently explained how to get to my destination. They also provided me with several different route options, which made me feel truly valued. They were exceptionally kind.
