Great hotel, very professional and friendly staff. Highlight was a private food tour organised through the hotel with Hidden Asian Travel Tours with the great guide, May and driver Shaan. Fantastic multicultural experience. May was so knowledgeable and really gave us a insight into KL culture and cuisine. Would highly recommend

I recently stayed at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur from 29 April to 1 May for a self-designed tennis and physical conditioning retreat (a weekend warrior and tennis enthusiast here). I had specifically chosen this hotel after reading about its tennis facilities, with the idea of seamlessly moving from training sessions to recovery—especially the cold bath, which was perfect for sore muscles. Overall, I was genuinely impressed by the hotel’s attention to detail, exceptional customer service, and the warmth of its hospitality. There is a clear culture of going above and beyond for guests, and it shows consistently across different aspects of the stay. 1) Tennis court I played both morning and night sessions. In the morning, the ideal window is between 8am and 11am, when both sides of the court are partially shaded; after that, the tropical heat becomes quite intense. At night, the lighting is excellent—bright and evenly distributed, with no harsh shadows affecting play (see photo). One observation: the court surface felt about 10% faster than a standard ITF-approved Laykold court. Service on the court was outstanding. Ice-cold water and fresh sports towels were always available. During a brief drizzle, staff even assisted in rolling the court dry. A particularly memorable moment was when I left my wet tennis shoes courtside to dry. Concerned they might be discarded, I informed the sports concierge. Not only did they keep an eye on them, but they also moved them under shelter when it started to drizzle. This level of attentiveness—even toward something as trivial as a guest’s shoes—speaks volumes. 2) Hospitality and Guest Relations I must commend the Guest Relations team. When booking, I had left a simple note: “Tennis lover here who chose MOKL for the tennis court—surprise me.” They exceeded expectations. The day before I was to play, I was greeted with thoughtful amenities: banana milkshakes, a chocolate cake, a Mandarin Oriental vacuum flask, and even a tennis-themed postcard. The level of personalization was impressive—it genuinely felt curated rather than generic. More broadly, hospitality here feels deeply ingrained. From the doorman who welcomed me at arrival, to the front desk and concierge staff, to the sports concierge who consistently topped up my flask with ice-cold water, and to the chefs at Lai Po Heen—everyone exuded warmth and sincerity. The atmosphere felt less like a hotel and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. 3) Food I had lunch at Lai Po Heen and explored their dim sum menu. Standout dishes included the Blue River Prawns Crispy Egg Noodles, Steamed Assorted Mushrooms with Bamboo Fungus, and Baked Cod Fish with Honey and Spinach. The prawn noodles initially came out slightly too salty for my taste. After I mentioned this, the young Chinese lady manager promptly replaced the dish. What impressed me was that she had personally tasted it and agreed with the feedback—demonstrating strong quality control. The replacement was excellent: balanced umami, rich prawn roe flavor, and wok hei in the noodles. Definitely a must-order. A delightful touch during service recovery was the dessert—mango agar shaped like little ducks. At first glance, they resembled rubber duckies you’d find in a bathtub, which gave me a good laugh. They were not just cute but also packed with rich mango flavor. 4) Rooms The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Housekeeping service was provided twice daily. One small but telling detail stood out: I had left my charging cable in a messy tangle while charging my tablet. When I returned, it had been neatly bundled with a cable tie by housekeeping (see photo). It’s these thoughtful touches that elevate the experience. Final thoughts: This was a highly enjoyable and memorable stay, especially for someone building a trip around tennis and recovery. The facilities are excellent, but what truly sets this hotel apart is the people and their genuine care for guests. I would not hesitate to return. p.s planning my next trip to MO Costa Navarino, will be training at the Mouratoglou Tennis Center

My family and I had a pleasant visit to Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. The hotel is well maintained, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the service was consistently good throughout. We’d especially like to mention Mr. Sadek at Mosaic Restaurant. He clearly knows how to serve customers well — attentive, professional, and always aware of what guests need, which made our dining experience smooth even during busy periods. We’d also like to recognize Ms. Nguyen at MO Bar for her friendly and attentive service. She was approachable and helped make the evening relaxed and enjoyable. Special thanks as well to the Guest Relations team for their support and coordination throughout the visit. Team members like Mr. Sadek and Ms. Nguyen make a meaningful difference to the guest experience, and their dedication reflects positively on the hotel. Their efforts deserve to be recognized. A few areas could still be improved. At Mosaic Restaurant, having water bottles available on the table would make things more convenient, as needing to refill small glasses multiple times can be a little inconvenient, especially when the restaurant is crowded. The coffee selection across the hotel also feels somewhat limited. It would be nice to see more specialty options such as affogato, café vienna, or similar choices, including at the club lounge. The coffee cups also felt quite small for those who prefer a more substantial serving. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and we would gladly return again.

Kuala Lumpur's skyline shimmers with the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, while the city's hospitality finds its most elegant expression at the Mandarin Oriental. Since its opening in 1998, the hotel has stood alongside the towers, witnessing the rise of Malaysia's capital and serving as a window into a golden era. As a luxury brand born in Hong Kong, Mandarin Oriental has set a unique aesthetic benchmark worldwide. Compared to its counterparts in Jakarta, Guangzhou, and Shanghai Pudong, the Kuala Lumpur property is often considered an accessible entry point to the brand, with its consistently competitive rates hovering around the 1,000 RMB mark. Located at the very heart of KLCC with the official address simply being "Kuala Lumpur City Centre", the hotel is not only the closest accommodation to the Twin Towers but also a mere few minutes' walk from Suria KLCC. It has witnessed KLCC transform from a master plan into a modern city center of high-end commerce and conventions. Situated beside the West Tower, the hotel's dignified façade bears the distinct business style of the late 1990s, a testament to the elite aesthetic of that era. Stepping into the lobby, the familiar MO ambiance washes over you. Dark wood paneling, crystal chandeliers, and green marble flooring sketch a classic 90s atmosphere. This prosperity, echoing its Hong Kong roots, bears the patina of time yet retains a comforting, mellow texture. The interior design, executed by HBA when they were just emerging onto the scene, blends the brand's elegant vocabulary with local touches, door handles featuring the Malay Kris motif and Nonya screens inlaid with gold leaf, inting at a subtle Nanyang charm. While guest rooms were refreshed in 2018, the public areas retain their original splendor. To commemorate its 20th anniversary, the hotel once released a commemorative fan crafted by Royal Selangor, fusing Wayang Kulit patterns with symbols of multicultural harmony. As one of the few properties in the portfolio to feature an MO Club, its 715㎡ lounge on the 24th floor stands as the largest executive lounge in Kuala Lumpur. Offering sweeping views of the Twin Towers and the KLCC Park, the lounge also houses a rare indoor cigar bar, exuding a distinctively old-school charm. The hotel comprises 629 rooms and suites, with base rooms starting from 40㎡. My stay was in a Club Corner Park View Room, one of only six such executive corner rooms in the hotel. Spanning 48㎡, the room boasts a 270° unobstructed view of the park, while the interior maintains a dignified, calm business aesthetic. The bathroom is appointed with PAÑPURI Lemongrass & Mandarin amenities. Wellness facilities are concentrated on the third floor, anchored by a stunning outdoor infinity pool that merges seamlessly with the greenery of KLCC Park. The floor also hosts a well-equipped gym, a tennis court, and a golf simulator. Dining options are equally impressive: Lai Po Heen skillfully marries Cantonese traditions with Nonya flavors, while the MO Bar serves creative cocktails infused with local elements. In preparation for its 30th anniversary in 2028, the hotel has launched a comprehensive renovation plan covering rooms, dining, and wellness. Poised between the sediment of time and the promise of renewal, this hotel continues to welcome every traveler passing through with its signature elegance.
