We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during our recent tour of Japan. We had originally booked a King Bed Deluxe Room but received an upgrade on arrival. Contrary to many other hotels in Japanese cities this was not a high rise. it is also not located right next to a railway station, but a convenient complementary taxi ride is provided. Our room had a huge (!) bed and separate sitting area, a very nice bathroom and two toilets. Plenty of closet space. Contary to our usual habit we used the restaurants in the hotel quite a bit and found them convenient and good quality. We had dinner at the Italian-style restaurent and dinner and a few lunches at the Cafe 33 (which also serves as the breakfast area). Staff wrre universally very friendly and helpful, especially at the reception (fir example making sure that taxi's we ordered were well-briefed on where we needed to go). I would certainly recommend this hotel to others visiting Kyoto.

While no glaring issues with this hotel, it was far from a 5-star experience for me and certainly not worth $500/night. The location is convenient and walkable to many nice areas. I stayed at another hotel in Kyoto the week before for significantly less money (also a 5-star), and the experience was night and day different. The room was a decent size but the bed was super hard. My room was particulary noisy/seemed that the walls were very thin. The hotel was very clean and plesant overall but again, just not 5-star level. The staff were all very friendly and the breakfast was very nice with a lot of options.

Kyoto was an amazing city to visit. The hotel helped by making our stay comfortable. The room was clean and comfortable. The food at the hotel was good and the staff gave us good recommendations for restaurants and a tea ceremony.

What an amazing staffs. After fist night, you don't need to ask anything. Purely because they've already done it for you.. Their service is one of a kind. Please try this hotel. You will see the differences.
