Reviews for Hyatt Regency Kyoto

Best hotel in Kyoto

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The best customer service from the entire staff! The breakfast was delicious and great to have a western option. The rooms are comfortable with a variety of amenities. My kids aged 15 and 10 loved this hotel and its proximity to everything.

The people who work at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto are what make the hotel special. It is the most beautiful Regency we have ever stayed at. Due to the warmth and thoughtfulness of the staff, we can’t think of a more memorable time at one of your hotels. Thank you!

Great Communication and Amazing service!

From start to finish, we felt well taken care of before we even arrived. This stay was very last minute and so there were obviously limited accommodations. We had a reservation many years ago on a trip that needed to be canceled and always wanted to stay at the Hyatt Regency in Kyoto back when it was the only Hyatt in Kyoto. We called in and a reservation agent from the Hotel was able to guide us in the limited options to which room would be the most comfortable for our family of 4. We initially were then booked into a deluxe twin with the notes requested for a rollaway. It is actually 2 full beds and the rollaway was a twin so a family could be very comfortable in this room. Because this was an unexpected stay, my husband and 1 were going to need to be on work calls throughout the week but we thought we could maybe try to take zoom calls in the bathroom worst case. We emailed with the hotel staff about our situation and Nirmala Gurung (Ms.) so kindly responded that there would be a space that we could use as their concierge would not be open so early in the morning and we could use their office for our meetings at 3 and 4am! We were very reassured by this option as it would drastically change the comfort of our stay to not disturb the kids when they were sleeping. When we arrived, they apologized that there was no upgrade available for the first night but the rest of the stay could be upgraded to a suite with a separate space for meetings. We were so grateful and just cannot say enough how this transformed our week from super stressful to relaxing. The new suite was beautiful with a view of the garden. Our daughters watched the koi feeding at 8am each morning before breakfast. There was a tatami area that we used as an office space and housekeeping set up another bed in that area as well so whoever was taking meetings that night could take a nap between meetings. Overall, it was the ideal setup. Our daughters also loved the wooden bathtub with the hinoki salts and they also provided adorable bear sponges and cute kids toothbrushes. Our concierge always asks for extra waters and comforters for us and these were easily provided. Breakfast was fantastic with a full buffet in addition to a menu that changed every 3 days that included a variety of options as well as Japanese breakfast sets. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast each morning despite having to leave early on several days in order to catch trains for our activities. Lastly we were coincidentally in town for the Gion festival and were so happy to be able to attend. We did not take advantage of the Hotel offer of tickets to the seated areas but were grateful for the option. Dennis Suherman was a friendly face each morning at breakfast and sometimes at the front desk. He saw us taking pictures near some chimes and offered to take our pictures. We also were helped several times by the concierge team including Sakura Bando (Ms.) who went over and above to help us map out transport to the Rabbit Island as well as source the tiny models of the floats for the Gion festival. We had an amazing stay and cannot wait to return!

Great hotel and service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

A fabulous hotel with superb service from wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. Special thanks to the concierge team for their recommendations and Mari Inoue (Duty Manager) for their personal and excellent service. The spa is very good. The breakfast expertly prepared but buffet choice on fruit was very limited and disappointing given the number of fruits in season right now. The tea is excellent but the coffee (Nespresso) was as expected bitter. The big let down are the rooms which whilst very clean are looking very dated and in need of refurbishment.

Wonderful staffs

I really appreciated the team in HR Kyoto that went extra miles to prepared our stay prior to our arrival, great services during our stay, and the concierge service for helping us making minute reservations. If you're considering between PH Kyoto, HP Kyoto, and HR Kyoto, I will say this property is a win! I am looking to be back in the future when I visit Kyoto.
