Hyatt Regency Kyoto is one of the many hotels near the JR Kyoto Station. Although it sounds convenient, most of the shops and restaurants close early in the area, making it very quiet after 8:30pm. Hotel guests can enjoy a complimentary taxi ride to the hotel from the JR station; no reservation is necessary but the offer is limited to one taxi per room. The 5-star hotel looks like a suburban mansion. The elegantly chic lobby is just as spacious as the luxurious rooms. The most traditional design is the Zen garden in the middle, which is especially serene and peaceful. Most of the hotels in Kyoto are fully booked in mid-October due to the Jidai Matsuri Festival, there are no upgrades available for Hyatt Globalists. The “2 Twin Beds” room is clean and well equipped. However, just as the other hotels in Japan, the room temperature is towards the warm side. Since Hyatt Regency Kyoto does not have a lounge, Globalists can enjoy daily welcome drink (one glass per person per day) at any restaurant inside the hotel ground. They can also enjoy daily complimentary breakfast at the hotel coffee shop café 33 (7am to 10:30am). Breakfast buffet (normal price JPY 4,500/person) has a good selection of juice, fruits, cereals, bread, cold cuts, salad and other hot dishes, such as sausages and scrambled eggs, but nothing beats the freshly prepared French toasts and omelets. Service is exceptional! Staff is professional, accommodating and welcoming! Concierge is helpful before and throughout the trip. Special thanks to Nakajima-san, Zhong-san, Bando-san, and Pickup-san for being so patient and helpful prior to our arrival, and to Indra for taking care of the different car rides requested! Many thanks to the lady (too rush that night so didn’t catch her name upon arrival) at the check-in counter who personally made sure we were able to have a decent dinner at Touzan before the kitchen closed.

This was our first time in Kyoto and the staff and the rooms at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto were fantastic. It is easy to walk or take a quick taxi to most areas of interest from the hotel. The concierge service was super helpful for restaurant reservations. We would stay here again.

I left a bag at a restaurant at Kyoto Station after checking out on my way to Hiroshima by train. The Duty Manager (Mari Inoue) arranged for the bag to be picked up and sent to my next hotel in Hiroshima by Yamato courier. Outstanding level of service. Well done Inoue-san! I would also like to thank the Concierge team who were very helpful with restaurant reservations and advice on sightseeing in Kyoto.

Location is great. Service level is standard but as expected. Much better than Park Hyatt considering price vs service level.
