Hyatt Regency Kyoto

You get a good impression of the hotel before you arrive. Booked guests can take a complementary taxi to the hotel using MK Taxis - just across the road from Kyoto station. This is a beautiful hotel where attention to detail is paramount. The hotel is a very good example of Hyatt Regency but customer care is of Park Hyatt quality. We got a Globalist upgrade at check-in to a Junior Suite and we were very grateful for this, thank you. Dennis Suherman, one of the Guest Experience Managers gave us a personal welcome and was helpful throughout. The suite overlooked one of the hotel’s ornate Japanese gardens. The bedroom was a good size and had a separate Japanese dining room with tatami mats - shoes off please. We did not use this for meals, but it gave good photo opportunities. We ate morning and evening in Cafe 33 at the lobby level. The breakfast choices are wide for both western and Japanese food. There is also a set Japanese breakfast - it’s worth giving this a try at least one morning. The dinner menu was also good, the fish dishes were particularly enjoyable. As Globalists we also got a complementary evening drink each day, which also helped our choice of eating in the hotel. Service was immaculate, particular thanks go to Trinh and Okki.

We had an exceptional stay at Hyatt Regency Kyoto. From the moment we arrived, the service felt thoughtful and personal. As a Globalist member, we were generously upgraded to a beautiful room, which made the stay even more special. The property strikes a perfect balance between modern comfort and traditional Kyoto design. The atmosphere is calm and refined without feeling overly formal. The location worked well for exploring temples and local neighborhoods while still feeling removed from the busiest tourist areas. Breakfast each morning in the main restaurant was excellent — high quality, beautifully presented, and supported by a team that was attentive without being intrusive. One unexpected highlight was the evening drink at the bar — watching the bartender craft cocktails with such precision made it a memorable experience. What truly stood out was the professionalism and warmth of the staff throughout the hotel. Every interaction felt genuine. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Kyoto.

Hotel was lovely, the room we had had a very cosey, homely feel to it and was very comfortable. The staff were extremely attentive and welcoming. Was a very good experience

Great hotel with wonderful service. Excellent restaurant Directly across the street from the Kyoto National museum. Rooms clean, functional with Japanese aesthetic of simplicity. Loved the bathroom. Tub and shower next to each other behind shower door. Toto toilet with the wonderful warm seat. Hotel restaurant serves delicious buffet breakfast with plenty of choices. Ate salmon meal for lunch which I also enjoyed. Try obtaining a seat next to the windows that overlooks a lovely garden

We have loved staying at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto and ended up eating most of our meals in the Cafe because the food was so good and the wait staff personable. The hotel is luxe and stylish, the beds comfortable, the rooms have ever amenity and it was very quiet. Plus it is right across the street from the Kyoto National Museum and a short walk to many temples, including the big Kiyomizu-dera. T he hotel had sent us emails about how their might be noise during construction of a neighbor, but I don't know how any noise could get in as the hotel property is surrounded by a 2-story wall with a hill full of plants. We didn't hear any noise whatsoever. The pastry cafe is definitely worth a visit, too! There was a free maiko dance performance and a small charge for a morning yoga class--gentle but effective. I loved the big soaking tub in my room!
