Reviews for Grande Colonial La Jolla

Fantastic

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Grande Colonial is the premier venue for business events. The Sales, Events, Banquet teams are top notch. I love working with the staff at the Grande Colonial. They run the back of the house so smoothly that I come out looking like a star planner. Food is fabulous and what a treat to be a guest. The rooms are wonderful, tasteful and soundproof for a feeling of quiet and privacy. Beds are so comfortable, you'll sleep like a baby after long meeting days.

The Perfect Wedding Venue

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

How do I even intro this? I got married at Grande Colonial on September 6th, 2025 and I stayed at the hotel for two nights. Grande Colonial is historical, classic, and charming. Few other venues could do justice to my beautiful bride. I can’t imagine a better place to have gotten married, for me. I could see how it might not be perfect for everyone, but I write this review with an indescribable fondness for the hotel at 910 Prospect Street. Check-in was easy. I think it would have been an 11/10 if the front desk clerk had had a note about it being our wedding weekend. Instead, we got a spiel about renting beach towels, which didn’t exactly apply to us. But that’s okay! Valet and the bellhop were very helpful in getting our bags and various wedding items up to our room. The room itself — the Ocean View King Junior Suite — was spacious and clean, but the star of the show was the ocean view, of course. It’s so beautiful, looking out when you first wake up or during the sunset. The ceremony and happy hour were in the garden courtyard. Quaint, quiet, and absolutely perfect during sunset. It’s enough room for a small wedding, which is exactly what we were going for. We even had space for a keyboard player, who was fantastic. We had our reception in the La Jolla room, which was also just right for the wedding size. For food, we chose the Crab Louie to start. It was light and refreshing. Then, guests had either the short rib or the duck. Both were top-notch but the short rib might’ve been slightly better. Also, the fresh sourdough bread was so good. The venue was able to hook up a sound system for music and microphones for speeches without a hitch. Their staff were friendly, collaborative, and easy to work with, and they added special touches and gestures (like champagne in our room) that truly made our big day feel that much more perfect. All of this couldn’t have happened without the catering manager, Daisy. Even though our wedding was small, she made us feel important. So that’s it. The perfect review for the perfect day, right? No, there’s no possible way I could do it justice.

The Best Choice for Your Stay in LaJolla

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This is a lovely hotel. The location is perfect and within reach of many restaurants and shops, as well as the waterfront, the cove, and the tide pools. Everyone from the moment we made the reservation to the moment we checked out was gracious, helpful, pleasant, and efficient. We loved everything about our stay at the Grande Colonial.

Wonderful stay in La Jolla village. He hotel is in a great location. Everything is done well. Our room was large, nice bath, comfortable beds and a view of the water. The breakfast was good, also tried lunch, had a tomato and farro salad it was fantastic. They definitely deserve their accolades. The staff was very accommodating and nice. Hope to stay again.
