La Jolla is an upscale beachfront community steeped in tradition, located just north of downtown San Diego. Overlooking the waterfront is the award-winning Grande Colonial, a historic landmark property boasting commanding views of the California coastline. Newly-renovated rooms and suites offers a variety of amenities, all with extraordinary comfort. As for location, you are centrally located - the hotel(TM)s village location allows you to stroll to the many shops, sidewalk cafés, and galleries that line the streets. Just down the hill is the glistening shoreline and sandy beaches.

The staff is phenomenal! The hotel is clean and cozy. We really enjoyed the personal touch. The staff knew our name by day two. Very attentive and accommodating. Definitely will return.

Disappointed with the stay. I was placed in a separate “Little Hotel” building far away from the main lobby, which felt isolated and unlike a proper 4-star hotel experience. There’s no internal pathway to the lobby, so you have to walk outside, and I rarely saw any staff around. The building felt more like a small apartment than a hotel. Soundproofing was also very poor, loud car noise made it difficult to sleep. The room had five windows, which felt excessive, and one didn’t even have a curtain, so light came in early in the morning. I also felt uneasy walking back after 8pm, especially with the lobby uphill and no visible staff nearby.

Mom/daughter weekend did not disappoint. We enjoyed our stay and were on the fifth floor facing the main road. Traffic noise was a bit annoying at 6 am with random loud cars, so I inquired about moving rooms to the back of the property but after seeing a couple of room options, we decided to remain in our grande queen/queen room. All room amenities were appreciated and wonderful. Endless water bottles, snacks, coffee, sodas in mini fridge were certainly a nice perk. Mattresses very comfortable, loved the bathrobes and slippers, just wish the bathroom had double vanity. The historic charm of the hotel was warm, quaint and welcoming. Excellent location but be aware some rooms and bathrooms are in dire need of a “refresh”. Enjoy your stay here - very friendly and happy staff. We did not eat in the restaurant, therefore I cannot comment on food, but the setting sure was nice. There is small outdoor terrace seating overlooking the pool as well as some street tables and of course inside the restaurant was beautifully designed.

Great stay at a well maintained hotel with a friendly helpful staff! Conveniently located to shopping, restaurants, the beach and easy access to downtown San Diego.
