Lovely holiday

Lovely break. Hotel is very pretty and lots of activities for the children. Great kids club, my daughter loved all the art and craft. Rosa, Maria, Josia, Ana, and all the ladies looked after her really well and had so much energy in the mini disco!

We have recently returned a fabulous 2 weeks at Dreams La Romana (family side). We upgraded to a suite which gave us preferred access and a Butler. This is a lengthy review, buckle in! Room/Suite - beautiful and spacious family suite, we overlooked the garden towards the preferred pool, it would have been nice to see the Sea a bit but wasn't an issue. Room was super clean, no bugs and mini bar always stocked. The bed was SO comfy. Nice toiletries and amenities. Our Butler Leo was so nice, sent us daily activities, would bring us coffee from the lobby, fruit platters and a cool bag with drinks to us, he also booked our meal on the pier. I'm not sure we would pay for one separately, but it was nice to be included in our suite. Pools - preferred pool is where we spent our time, we are very pleased we had access to these areas and would definitely upgrade to prefered again. Stunning pool, gorgeous view over to the sea, the cocktails are gorgeous and the staff lovely. We did wander to the family pool and have a swim but this is alot busier. Also very clean and generally loungers always available, we are up early so never had an issue getting loungers, but generally if you arrived later in the day there would be some available. Water Park - brilliant, kids loved it, lots of seating and towels provided, lazy river is fab and the slides I am reliably informed were good. My 10 year old and 13 year old loved spending time here, also because they could get soft serve ice cream. Sea/beach - bluer than blue and beautiful and clear, just as you'd picture it, preferred seating area is nice. Activities on the beach daily. Absolutely no seaweed (apart from the end of our holiday when Storm/Hurricane Erin made an appearance.)Powder soft sand and stunning beach. Food - arghh this was our least favourite bit, can only really rate 3/5 to be truthful. It is ok but not amazing. The Coastal Grill is the best, really nice to sit outside and decent choices. The Italian was ok, one member of staff when we first ate there looked like she hated her job but we returned for a 2nd time and was much better. The French wasn't too bad. The Peruvian wasn't the best. The buffet changed daily, lots of options, it isn't air conditioned so did feel stuffy at times. Hated having to wait to get certain foods, you can serve yourself fruit at breakfast but not ham or cheese? A bit random. Plenty of choice though and there was always something for everyone. If the food was better this would be a 5 star review. The pizzas were good from the pool bar and the beach bar also great, they serve some delicious orange juice and you can watch the sea and the waves crashing :) We also had dinner on the pier for our wedding anniversary, it was a gorgeous situation for a meal and we had the most incredible sunset, the staff were very attentive and moved us quickly when it started to rain, the food was not too bad at all on this evening and our children were able to order from whichever restaurant which we thought was really great. Bars - we enjoyed sitting in the lobby on an evening enjoying a cosmo and a manhanttan, we really liked the new sports bar aswell when that opened towards the end of our holiday, really good vibe, fantastic cocktails with some having a fun element to them , dry ice, smoke etc. Entertainment/kids clubs - the entertainment is ok (ish), we didn't watch many, the magic show wasn't great, that man lacked serious stage presence! The circus show was good, but the one myself and my daughter enjoyed the most was the ocean show. My daughter spent some time at the kids club doing bracelet making, canvas painting and the trip to the mini garden. The teen club was also good. The staff are great and welcoming. It is worth mentioning that this hotel is SO clean, never have i ever seen staff work so hard, always doing things and keeping the place pristine. The staff are very friendly and polite, having visited Cuba previously where tipping is expected there never seemed to be an expectation here to tip and when we did it was gratefully received. Trips - highly recommend Seavis for Saona Island tour we had a fantastic day. Truly brilliant. Overall, we had a fabulous 2 weeks, this hotel is beautiful and clean, set out nicely, it is big but doesn't feel huge. We are already thinking about returning next year. Thankyou Dreams for the memories, we miss it already :)

Trash!

One of the worst vacations I’ve ever been on hotel is not very organized. Food was terrible shortage of chairs at the pool. There is a metal wire that I almost ate. Thank goodness I chewed on it and spit it out otherwise I could’ve wound up in the hospital. Most staff was unfriendly.

Overall a very fun resort, minor complaints.

We had a really fun time here. Having the Scuba Caribe spot on property was really fun, we did multiple excursions through them. The staff was good at both Spanish and English, making it easy to communicate. The food was mostly good for an all inclusive. Highlights were the steak at the French restaurant, the teppanyaki at the Pan-Asian restaurant, and the experience at the Latin American restaurant. Our biggest complaint was the staff was often pushy about up-selling us, from the Playa Collection team, to other staff trying to push wine and other paid for experiences. For example, multiple times while relaxing at the pool we were approached to ask if we would make a reservation at the spa or for the beach dinner that week. We also did not realize the swim up we booked did not connect to the main pool, so we didn’t end up using the swim up as much as we otherwise would have. But overall it was a very nice resort with lots of activities, a beautiful beach, and friendly staff.

Room Service WTF

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We are here now will write a review once our trip is finished. Why has no one mentioned they charge you $10 for room service. We have never experienced this before. Our vacation is expensive enough without charging us more. My little one likes to sleep early at night therefore we get room service. Now I have to pay the charge plus tip the delivery man. That is shocking behaviour sooo greedy I’m not impressed by this.
