Fantastic Resort with activities, pools, relaxing and partying. Amazing food choices and a beautiful Waterpark.

Summary: Excellent Food, Great service, welcoming staff, beautiful location, and fantastic Waterpark. Tennis and Pickleball included, with professional instruction. Activities and Entertainment team perform their job like a mastered artform. Detailed Review: We traveled as a couple for a week in August 2025. We were greeted warmly and professionally by the staff, who made a great first impression. The room was nice, and had everything one could need. I enjoyed the high ceilings, which gave the room a luxurious feel. It was very clean as well, and kept clean by the maid service daily, I think twice a day. Esteban from the entertainment team gave us a tour and led us to the sports bar which is open late. Here we had the fancy drinks with bubbles and smoke and it just felt special. Definitely worth a visit, good for late night drinks and they have a pool table. The pools were great, warm. A slightly questionable design because one pool had no access to the swim up bar, and the other pool, immediately adjacent, did. This resulted in one very busy pool and one oddly empty one. There is also an adult only, preferred pool on an isolated section of the resort. The beach was nice as well. Both areas were overcrowded everyday and it was difficult to get a chair, but the staff was so good - they'd do the uncomfortable work of finding you available chairs and bringing them where you wanted. Near the pools they sometimes had pop-up grills where they made different food each day, I only tried it once because the lineup was long. I think time would be better spent going to the buffet or restaurant. The Waterpark- a hidden gem. I only went on the last day, and I wish I discovered it earlier, I would have spent the whole trip there. A lazy river, some water slides, and pools to chill in. Lots of space here, with chairs, and a food truck ! The options were limited but I loved it. I tried all the dinner restaurants: They each have a dress code, so check before going. They also require a time commitment as it takes time for the meals to be prepped etc. If you want a quick bite, try the buffets, which sre available for all 3 meals. The Asian restaurant had excellent food and a sushi bar which was very good! Hibachi was a good time. Noor had good samosas and food. Chinola had the best atmosphere, eating in the sand in a tropical lagoon. Portions here were huge! Here I had a couple of favourites, they had the best tasting drinks, as well as the seafood soup. Salivating while thinking about it. All throughout the evening, there were dances and entertainment while we ate. It was such a cool experience. The buffets were good as well, I liked the many options, especially the juices. They're all open air. They grow some of the produce on site, which is nice to see. Chinola is also where they have the afternoon activities, led by the entertainment team. These were trip highlights. We did hat painting, small canvas painting, and small sculpture painting. We took home some cute souvenirs. Here I have to give credit to Yuliana (Minnie), who always had a smile on her face and whose positive energetic vibe spread to everyone around her. Other people deserving of a mention: Maria, Miguel, David, Ernesto. The property also has 4 pickleball courts and 2 amazing clay tennis courts, and a tennis pro (Ramon) taking care of it all. The lessons are included, and it's great that the Hyatt brand encourages guest instructors for pickleball and Yoga etc, so that their guests experience professional instruction. Keep this up Hyatt.

Would I recommend this hotel ...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

... Probably not after our recent experience. We are a group of 5. A party of 3 and a party of 2. We stayed here last year 28 Feb to 14 March 2025 when it was a Hilton Hotel and loved it so much that we returned 27 Feb-13 March 2026, by which time it had been taken over by Hyatt. On both visits we upgraded to then Enclave and now Preferred package. Prior to our visits I was in email contact with Carlos King, Concierge to confirm some issues and ask questions. He always responded and was extremely helpful and courteous. After a 10 hour flight we arrived at the hotel and discovered that my daughter was not included on the booking. After some time we were assured that it wasn't a problem and we were shown to our room to discover that they had made a sofa bed up for her. Last year we had a room with 2 queen beds. She's a young adult, we'd paid a lot of money and had upgraded so didn't feel this was appropriate. Because of this we also missed a prebooked reservation at the Teppanyaki that Carlos had very kindly booked for us. We were eventually moved the next day but it wasn't a great start to the holiday. I emailed Carlos to let him know about the problems we had encountered. He was extremely apologetic and went above and beyond, seeking us out, to make sure that we were well looked after for the rest of our holiday which was very much appreciated. We couldn't have asked for more so as far as we were concerned, the issue was forgotten. We returned to La Romana because of our previous experience. Beautiful hotel and surrounding grounds, fabulous staff (bars) very clean (including all the public toilets), great food and drink. I have recommended this hotel to lots of people previously. Unfortunately, this visit left us very disappointed. The adult buffet restaurant offers a wide variety of food, something for everyone and we visited most days for breakfast ands sometimes lunch. It's not open of an evening. Specialty Restaurants were a totally different story. Service was very poor, staff couldn't understand what we were saying, not very attentive, lacking in personality and food far below expectations. Often luke warm/cold, Last year we struggled to decide on which restaurant to go to because they were all excellent, this year we struggled to decide because after visiting once, we didn't want to return back. Chicken was fatty, grisly with shards of bone, the steak/beef was fatty and grisly, fish was over cooked to mention a few. We were given wrong orders and on one occasion 2 of our party not getting anything! By the time their food did eventually arrive everyone else had eaten. No apologies were given. Once you were given your food the staff were gone, only coming back to your table to clear the dishes. We had to shout out to the waiters for drink refills, extra cutlery, salt and pepper, napkins etc. When asking for drink refills we waited for up 25 mins on some occasions and forgotten about on others.. We also noticed the poor quality of the white spirits in some of the restaurants, tasteless and made the coke poured fresh from the bottles really flat. Not really the 5* experience you'd expect. They need to get the pool bar staff in to inject some personality and show them how to engage and treat their visitors! The poor quality of the meat was also extended to the beach grills and bbq. I had a beef taco , in the day light you can't hide the fat and gristle, obviously the scrap ends of something. it was inedible. It was such a let down, being all inclusive and in the middle of nowhere the food is important. In the past, I have recommended and encouraged family and friends to go to this hotel. Would I do it now? No. Which is a great shame because after visiting last year I described it as paradise with fabulous food and staff. Hyatt what have you done!

Wedding at Dreams La Romana

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Planning an all-inclusive wedding with Dreams & Secrets La Romana was, without question, the best decision we could have made. From start to finish, every detail was handled with care, and the results were absolutely magical. Our journey began when we visited the resort and met with coordinator Glennis, who helped us feel confident and excited from the very first walkthrough. When it came time to finalize everything, we were paired with our lead coordinator, Carolina — and she was an absolute gem. Professional, warm, and genuinely invested in making our daughter's day perfect, Carolina worked tirelessly on the day of the wedding to ensure everything ran flawlessly. She truly went above and beyond in every sense, and we couldn't be more grateful. Our makeup artists, Asavi Style, were incredible. They came out for our welcome beach party to do a trial run and returned on the wedding day looking like pros — the results were stunning. We also used Punta Cana Storytellers for photography and videography, and they captured every beautiful moment beautifully. Looking through those photos and videos, we're taken right back to that perfect weekend. We had 82 guests with us, and every single one of them had the time of their lives. The resort's all-inclusive atmosphere made it effortless for our family and friends to relax, celebrate, and create memories together. But the most important thing? Our daughter and son-in-law were over the moon — happy, glowing, and completely in love with every moment of their wedding day. If you're considering an all-inclusive destination wedding, stop considering and just do it — and do it at Dreams La Romana. We would do it all over again without a single hesitation
