Banyan Tree Bintan

Banyan Tree Bintan is situated 10 mins from the airport on a small hill, above a beautiful, golden sandy beach and clear blue waters. The hotel is far away from any noise aside the natural jungle forest life. The staff are unfailingly friendly, smiley and warm. The hotel itself suffers from a lack of investment, looking worn and tired, particularly from the outside. It is likely 30 years since the hotel was built and it will have been quite some time since there was a lick of paint or varnish. The food is substantially below luxury standard. The coffee was poor (a cappucino seemingly an impossibility unless you consider filter coffee with a wafer thin layer of foam on top to be OK). The risottos were tasteless and the meats overcooked. The fruit juices were watered down (not just with ice, but with water too) to save cost. The fresh fruit was not so fresh looking. Pizza was dried out. Potato puree was thin and watery. The one saving grace was a duck red curry at Saffron. No complaints about the big flying beetles (nor even the sneaky macaques who levered their way into our room, to secure some bananas!). This is all natural jungle stuff but beware if jungle life is not for you! Overall, if a cheap rate for comfortable (but tired) accommodation by a lovely beach is your top priority then consider Banyan Tree Bintan, but be prepared to be disappointed by the less-than-luxury food.

Beautiful Location, with very relaxing vibes. As soon as you enter the resort you are greeted with beautiful smiles from all the staff. They are very helpful and available to answer any questions and to assist you. The rooms are big and literally have everything you need. You only need to get the Rena s you don’t have to worry about anything you might need in the rooms. The breakfast had a big variety for everything , Indonesian and international cuisine. The resort has several restaurants , the Indonesian which is very good , we ate there and enjoyed it all, the food was beautifully presented and very tasty. We also went to their Tai restaurant “Safron” and here we had an unforgettable experience. Other than the delicious food we ordered, they offered us a welcome starter that was very delicious, samosas and crackers and rice cakes with a selection of sauces that were really very tasty. And before that they came and washed our hands and gave us flowers and it was part of their greeting rituals. They also took a picture of us and gave it to us inside a thank you card and before our meal was over, they offered us mango sorbet and at the end of our meal, they offered us Indonesian speciality coconut sweet ball. That was all extra from what we have originally ordered. Very attentive staff, taking care of details and giving the guest the best attention. The person who took care of us at the restaurant her name was Desy and she was very friendly. Professional and Dinamic. Now we are sure that she and her colleagues are a part of the success of the Safron restaurant at Banyan tree. It is a pity we are leaving tomorrow would have love to stay longer at this beautiful resort.

Second visit and won’t be the last ! Beautiful rustic villas , immaculately clean . Staff are truly exceptional…. Buggy drivers always smiling .. esp Kafir ( Liverpool fan !) Dave front of house , Wendy and iriki our housekeepers … it is a haven of peace here ! Saffron fabulous food !!!

We were greeted beautifully by the staff then hop on a buggy to our Villa 307. As we entered, the view was incredible! So pleased with all the comfort of the 2 villas provided. Very relaxing. Communication is through WhatsApp who responds promptly. Towels are provided twice during the day. Book for transport and within minutes they are there to take you to breakfast or the main lobby. We had a 3 days of relaxation with our friends. Very pleased thank you.
