The Banyan Tree Bintan resort is a luxury hideaway just one hour by ferry away from Singapore. The transport with a private car from the ferry terminal on the indonesian island Bintan takes only ten minutes. The resort is situated on a djungle hill besides a beautifully bay, which Banyan Tree shares with two subsidiaries resorts. The group is well known for its sustainability programs which intgrates the local population. Guests stay in spacious villas build in the dungle, many of them have sea view. There are two great pools, three restaurants and a spa. The staff is very friendly.

We decided to dine in for my wife’s birthday. The Blue Moon package looked good. Sometimes resorts can let the execution down, but on this occasion they exceeded our expectations. First of all you have the turn down team that preps the room. Albert, David and Daus did a really outstanding job. Even singing my wife happy birthday. The photos do it justice. Then there is the dinner. We were advantaged by doing this in an Ocean Infinity Pool Villa which is huge. It takes the team an hour to setup. Haryono was our very young waiter, at 19 years of age, his skill and care belied his experience. A wonderful job. The food. Was prepared by our chef, Rifay. Quality was really very good and so to his cooking skills. There was more than enough, probably too much food. The variety was good from meats to seafoods, fruits and vegetables. This was a really special night. We’d recommend this experience. You do have the backdrop of the South China Sea which only adds to the ambience.

This review only relates to one of the package items at the hotel. It was my wife’s birthday and we selected the Blue Moon dinner. Admittedly it was in an Infinity Pool Ocean villa which are very spacious. The room was set up by Albert, David and Daus. with beautiful decorations. So polite and did a really nice job. Dinner was also fantastic where we were looked after by Haryono, our waiter, and Rifay, our chef. The setup was truly stunning. It takes them a good hour. The food was very nice. Huge selection of seafood and meats. Quality was also good. Haryono served us well beyond his 19 years. A special night. Thank you.

I took my mum to Banyan Tree Bintan resort for her birthday and Mother’s Day celebration, as a mother-daughter trip. She thoroughly enjoyed herself in the relaxing trip. The villa is very nice and spacious with jacuzzi perched on the hill top facing the sea. The staff at their respective roles like Rina, David, Safron and Dinesh, were consistently very nice and attentive, and the requests were swiftly attended to. They provided a nice chocolate cake and made a birthday greeting with leaves on the bed. She enjoyed her meals in Treetop and Saffron, I wished I could remember all their names. Mum enjoyed her spa treatments that she wanted another appointment the next day and the same therapist. My mum left the villa very happy and refreshed, and now she is discussing with me to return again for a next trip.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Banyan Tree Bintan. Besides the excellent resort amenities, the staff / service was absolutely incredible (Sofwan, Kasir,...) and the food was terrific (visited Saffron for the fantastic Thai two nights in a row). Also, the Laguna golf course was superb (and reasonable). The private beach was pristine, and the water warm - we got lucky with the weather. Getting to Bintan from Singapore by ferry was a breeze, and the hotel pickup and drop very smooth. Banyan Tree Bintan is a wonderful weekend getaway for a relaxing break, and we look forward to returning soon!
