We had an amazing vacation. The staff were wonderful. Our two rooms were always well stocked and cleaned. The resort property is beautiful. The location couldn't be better. The (cheap!) Uber rides got us to Lagos daily. But we also spent lots of time poolside or walking the many easy to follow trails near by which had incredible scenery. We stayed for 1 week which enables us to do 3 excursions (all recommended): 1) the food tour (which also gave us a feel for the old city), 2) a boat tour to see the cliffs, and 3) a trip to Sagres which was very striking. I"m really sorry that some people had different experiences but ours was amazing. We saw a few ants outside our room but it was never an issue in either room. All staff were kind. The place is very well decorated. We hadn't had a nice vacation in a long time and this was the place I am glad I choose. Breakfast (daily) was amazing. Just sitting on our balcony was also great. I wouldn't change a thing.

We spent a beautiful week at Cascade Wellness Resort with our kids aged 11 and 14. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment which also had 2 bathrooms. We chose to stay self catering but the apartment was pretty much kitted out with everything you needed and included a dishwasher and washing machine. Although we weren't staying in the hotel itself, the staff come and make the beds, change the sheets and towels every day (if needed), and leave bottled water, loo rolla and free nespresso pods too. The apartment was very clean and well maintained and the air-conditioning was a god send as it got to 40° one day!! There are 3 pools. One large pool at the back of the hotel, one adult only in the spa and another pool which has a sandy bottom at one end for sandcastle building etc and which is ideal for smaller kids. The pools are lovely. Again, well maintained and never super busy - always able to get a sun lounger no matter what time of day it was (we went 7th to 14th August). We only ate once in the hotel - mainly because it was very pricey and the choices were fairly limited with not much in the way of local cuisine but I guess they're trying to cater for all kinds of tourists. That said, the food was delicious and the portions were VERY generous. I had a club sandwich and I took half of it home to eat the next day. The kids had a cheeseburger off the "snack" menu so I was expecting it to be fairly small but again, it was a huge and very tasty meal. The staff are friendly and super accommodating. Our flight landed quite early so we checked in around 12pm, but the apartments are not ready until 4 usually. We were able to stow our luggage securely, use the pool and grab an ice cream whilst we waited. Around 1pm, the receptionist came to find me to say that they had sorted the apartment and we could have the keys early. Such a fab service and very welcome after a 2am start. There's no shop on site, but it's a simple 15 minute walk to a fab little mini market called "super eureka" which sells fresh bread, pastries and everything else needed for self catering. I would advise using this shop as its much cheaper than the super macado in Lagos. Just take a ruck sack and don't go at 2pm like I did in the blazing heat 🤣. We didn't hire a car, Uber works so well here- we waited no more than 10 minutes for an uber and depending on the time of day and car, we paid between 4.50 and 6 euro to get to old town Lagos. There's a lovely boardwalk behind the hotel where you can walk along the coast line, all the way to Lagos if you're energetic enough! You can also access the cliffs to ponte de piedede and walk down to the bottom where you can swim. Only slightly spoiled by the annoying American tourist with the drone flying all over the place. You can also walk to the beach from the hotel, takes about 15 mins. You can go to Praia do Canavial which you can access from the boardwalk but please be aware that the locals called this the "tuttie fruity" beach. I'll leave why to your imagination 🤣. If you walk a little further on, you can go to the Praia do Porto do Mos which is a bit more family friendly, just a bit of a steep climb back up the road. We happened to be there at the same time as Ronaldo and whichever team he plays for - they have a training ground behind the hotel somewhere so at times the road was blocked for them and security was tight but wasn't a big issue - good if you're a football fan I guess! Overall, we had a fab stay there. I would definitely go back- the only thing I didn't do was use the spa facilities but would try if I went again.

Horrendous experience. Travelling with my 3 young kids. Checked into our non smoking apartment and the entire place was covered in the smell of smoke. I have a baby, a child with asthma and a husband with emphysema. When we went to talk to the front desk, their initial offer was “for housekeeping to spray it”. They were unwilling to help - told us there no rooms available , when in fact there were but in a higher pay category. The manager Katarina was unwilling to make the switch. After hours at the front desk and my children sleeping outside (since the smell was too bad to be inside ), they eventually switched us to a handicap room. However this room was not what we paid for, had no bath tub for our infant, and was infested with ants!!!!! Would rate this hotel 0 stars if I could. Do not consider yourself a family friendly resort when the health and safety of your youngest guests are not a priority.

We were nervous after all the terrible reviews lately, but all in all we had a good experience at Cascade. We really enjoyed our time here but not 5 stars. First, we stayed in the family apartment suite which was a perfect setup for our family of four. The kids shared a room and we had our own room and master bath. There was a decent size living room and a full kitchen. The outdoor balcony was also very spacious. The room though was showing signs of its age. There were stains on the carpet and sofa. The pillows on the bed were paper thin and uncomfortable. The rest of the resort was nice. The main pool was great and we always found a couple of chairs. The wait staff worked hard but they could use another member or two for the afternoons at the pool. We paid for the daily breakfast buffet with our room, which was plenty of food for the family each morning but no real changes to the menu day to day. That said, the breakfast buffet was expansive and had a wide array of food for kids, adults, vegetarians, those with celiac, etc. We ended up eating at the dinner buffet two times (once out of convenience versus choice). One night there was live music and fresh grilled meat and seafood on the patio dining. A lovely experience. The staff at the front desk were friendly, as was the concierge. The staff in the restaurant at breakfast were hit or miss in terms of friendliness and being helpful. People reported ants and we did see a couple on our last day. Otherwise, bugs were not a problem at all. As for the gym, it’s pretty sad. Just an open air room with a few cardio machines and some weights. We tried to use our phones for online classes but the WiFi at the resort is so bad, the classes just kept buffering. The gym is also in a partially finished building, so not very nice at all. That said, you can get a workout in here if you need one. Location wise, it’s a great spot if you are looking to still be nearby Lagos (which is a great town). We Ubered into town or drove to the parking garage next to the historic center. I don’t recommend trying to drive the streets of inner Lagos though. Park in the garage at the edge of the town (near mini golf?) and it’s a quick walk into town. From the resort, you can walk down to the beach by road out of the resort but it’s a good 15 minute walk down and it’s uphill the whole way back to the hotel. You can also walk to the beach along the cliff trails, but that’s even longer (30 minutes?) and not a big beach. If you want a great beach, we recommend heading over to Luz, where the beach is easy to access, has a lovely boardwalk with tons of restaurants, and all the beach gear you could want. Only a 15 minute drive from the resort, and easier to park in as a town. All in all, if you’re looking for a nice spot with room for the family, it’s a good choice. It’s just not a 5 Star/luxury resort.

Extremely friendly staff, excellent food, fantastic location. Our fourth visit will not have been the last. Clear recommendation to go.
