I booked a nice room per the pictures on line of the website for 359.00 Euro. The room they took me took was old, dingy, beat up furniture. I requested another room, the second one was still on the first floor and smelled like mold/mildew. After 1.5 hours at the desk, and the manager would NOT come out to speak to us, only option was to pay 50.00 Euro more for a decent room, and once in we noticed the shower had mold all around the floor. They did not care, they just wanted MORE money. Horrible customer service. The property is old, worn down. We had just left the Tivoli and Domes, paid less had amenities with our rate and their breakfasts were lovely...this one mediocre at best. They would not even talk with us, and on their website their is no place a to leave a review. Horrible!

The service at the pool is not existent. Very few staff means long wait times and slooowww delivery. Only one server at the pool doing his best to avoid eye contact. I know it’s Portugal, but don’t charge us 4-5 star US prices and then deliver 2 star service. Oh yeah, and heat the damn pool while you’re at it.

If you’re coming to Lagos with a family, rent a car and stay at the Cascade Wellness Resort hotel and stay in their spacious hotel apartments. We stayed here for the second half of our trip and was SOOOO GLAD we chose this place! They have fully stocked kitchens, spacious bedrooms, closets, dish washer, washing/dryer combo machine, nice bathrooms with a tub for bathing children after a long day, multiple pools, great food, and a kids play area. They had a pack n play bed made for our infant daughter and high chair ready for us in our apartment when we arrived. All the restaurants have high chairs and children's menus. We got the Bed and Breakfast package and it was such a treat! Breakfast buffet was absolutely incredible with a fresh omelet station and so much more! They have multiple fantastic restaurants on site and a great pool bar with lite bites and snacks. (Pro tip: bring paper towel and some dish towels because the kitchen doesn't come with those - there is a great grocery store/pharmacy 7 minute drive away in the Continente shopping area if you need to stock up on anything.) The sand pool is a fantastic compromise for families with young children because it lets kids play in the sand and water while parents can comfortably be by the pool and not have to schlep all your beach stuff around Lagos. It’s a great “home base” for day trips to downtown Lagos or the surrounding areas. Very stroller and wheelchair friendly resort. They also have beach access but like almost every beach in the area, there are stairs to get down to the water. Lagos, in general, is not stroller or wheelchair friendly due to the bumpy cobblestone sidewalks (if there are any) and steep hills. They have easy access parking either underground or in front of your apartment which makes life sooo much easier. The staff are LOVELY, soooo friendly and helpful! Seriously, this place is a dream! Oh, the only negatives were: - The lighting in the bathroom is kinda weird - There aren't easy access outlets by the bed for your phone but there are plenty of other outlets around the apartment For those who like to know weather: we stayed in early September and it was between 22 - 27*C (71 - 80*F) everyday with beautiful sun and light wind during the day. It does get windier in the afternoon/evening which makes the nights cooler so bring a jacket to dinner.

This resort has the potential to be gorgeous. The setting, design and location are stunning. The 'sand pool' is wonderful for small children as its combines a beach feel and safe environment . Staff are friendly, especially in the restaurant where the food is great with variety and a children's section . You could always get a sun lounger and the resort , by design never felt busy which was lovely. The apartment could have been gorgeous . Super spacious and a good location. But when we checked in, there were stains on the sofa, carpet, damage from damp throughout, and an understocked kitchenette. Ants are a problem in general in the heat- but I would wake up and there would be hundreds on floors, climbing on surfaces, in my bags, baby's pram etc. The attitude of guest services was very defensive- that stains sometimes can't be removed , and that we had to deal with our tour operator. Given the price point of this hotel, I was genuinely shocked. They did offer to change our accommodation 4 days into the holiday, but when I looked around, this wasn't any superior, ie further away and with tiled floors throughout so not suitable for a toddler and I believe it was smaller too. They had the opportunity to make good on this and chose not to. We were also offered a bottle of wine or spa discount as a gesture of good will, however when I explained I already had a spa booking, their feedback was it couldn't be applied to this treatment as it was already discounted as a monthly offer (the spa recommended I opt for this facial!) Again- this just felt like poor judgement. I appreciate this was towards the end of the season- but this was our long awaited family holiday and I felt very let down. In the end, we tried to make the most of it. In summary, I would consider the price point of this resort when compared to others in the Algarve.
