Clean and friendly staff. Lots of amenities, we didn’t know about after our stay was over that we could utilize that would’ve made to stay more pleasant

Our extended family celebrated our parents’ 50th wedding anniversary at The Ranch. Each family had a 2 bedroom suite overlooking the pool. The suites are spacious and the perfect solution for a stay with kids. We had a private room for dinner at Harvest and the food was very good and the serving staff was excellent. The next morning we all ordered food from The Porch and at around a fire pit enjoying the gorgeous canyon views. It has been some years since our last stay and I will be sure to not let nearly as much time pass before our next one.

What a gorgeous hidden gem! Immersed in nature within a canyon, but still walking distance to the beach. Warm & informative front desk (thank you Sage!), and we greatly appreciated Shuttle Service to the wonderful Saw Dust Art Festival. The farm tour w Michaela was a trip highlight, as was the live music on the patio. Beautiful stay!

Love the resort. Great location near beach , hiking and golf. Tram stop to downtown right out front. Rooms are clean and nicely appointed Harvest restaurant was absolutely amazing. We will return. I recommend they get a Keurig or Nespresso machine.

We booked our stay based on the serene, spacious experience shown on the hotel's website, but the reality fell short. While the room and landscaping were nice, the overall experience did not justify the $1,000 price tag—and the staff interactions left us with a lasting bad impression. 👍 The Good: • Room was well-appointed and the bed was comfortable • Beautiful landscaping throughout the property • The restaurant is quite good and offers a pleasant setting with a nice canyon view 👎 The Bad: • Most rooms—including ours—face directly into other buildings. small patios offer no view or privacy. The buildings are tightly packed, making the resort feel enclosed—not open and tranquil as shown online. • Limited outdoor access: Nearly all of the grounds are taken up by a golf course, which guests cannot access unless playing. The only walkable areas are narrow paths between buildings. There is a short walk to Aliso Beach, but it's currently under construction and unattractive. The resort offers a cart, but it's not a scenic stroll—and this should have been disclosed up front. 😞 The Ugly: • Staff were robotic, defensive, and inflexible. Early check-in and late check-out requests were met with scripted policy replies and no effort to assist. A promised follow-up call never came. When we gave honest feedback, we were again met with defensiveness and another scripted response. It left a genuinely bad aftertaste. We visit Laguna a couple of times a year and usually stay at the Waldorf Astoria—and will continue to do so. It may cost a bit more, but you get what’s promised and you're treated with true professionalism and care.
