The Ranch at Laguna Beach

Resort rooms and location 10+- foodservice in harvest and on the patio needs better management - too many workers just standing around talking vs servicing the guests. Same around the grounds lots of workers just hanging out vs taking care of guests !

Our second visit to this beautifully unique property felt just as new this time around. The dining experience, the cute rooms, the world-class service. Wow I glad we didn’t go to the Ritz again. The accommodations offered are as unique as the view. We can’t wait to come back in January.

I booked a suite at The Ranch as a last-minute Plan B after Hurricane Lowell forced us to cancel a long-planned birthday trip to Kauai. We picked this property specifically for the beach proximity, spa, and gym — all of which fell short. The room itself was lovely, but the spa was underwhelming: a cramped pre-treatment waiting area and only a sauna option before/after treatments. The gym had minimal equipment and no class offerings at all. For a property charging a daily resort fee, it felt like that fee was subsidizing the golf course, not the amenities most guests actually use. Add a separate daily parking fee on top, and it starts to feel like a lot of nickel-and-diming for a resort at this price point. Dinner at Harvest was another letdown — we were seated in what felt like the kids' section, right next to a table where two boys were watching iPads at full volume throughout our meal. Then came the fees: a 22% delivery charge for food/drinks to the pool because the palapa was closed, a "suggested" 23% tip on the spa bill, plus a separate link prompting guests to tip individual staff members. If rates are this high, that money should be going toward paying staff properly rather than being layered on as guest-facing suggested gratuities. Beautiful room, but between the fees and the underdelivered amenities, we won't be returning or recommending it.

Room location was great. Single story next to pool and out the front the trail to the restaurant. Love the cabin feel of the room and the art on the walls. Vintage feel. Great value. Ben Browns golf course always fun and beautiful. Harvest restaurant excellent.

We (friends and family) were there to celebrate my 50th At the Canyon Room and deck event space, we stayed overnight as well. The event, staff, and overall vibe was the best. Can't wait to go back!
