Montage Kapalua Bay

We came to the Montage Kapalua Bay for 3 weeks in July 2025 with 5 family members: 2 vegan (fairly straightforward); 1 with severe diverticulosis who must not have anything with seeds, nuts or kernels (even cucumbers and tomatoes) or a hospital visit is on the menu; 1 with burning mouth and throat syndrome who must eat totally plain food prepared on a clean pan or grill with no salt, pepper or even garnish, or the chronic burning escalates for several days, and 1 teenager who can eat anything. I spoke with Sous Chef April before we arrived. She entered extensive notes in the Montage computer system and assured me that wherever we went in the Resort, the chefs and servers would access these notes/requirements and deliver meals without any difficulties (even at the pools). She also gave me her mobile number. On our first night, Executive Chef Justin, took our order, and adjusted menu items to fit our challenges. Everything was perfection (even the stir-fried breaded tofu, and I don’t like tofu). Sous Chef Zach made dishes for us that were not on menu. He took our order and came out 2-3 times to check on us. On the last evening, the 2 vegans had a craving for vegan burgers, but it was not on the menu nor was anything similar. Chef Zach made the best vegan burgers we’d ever had—terrific seasonings. Three times we got a whole Maui Gold pineapple sliced into chunks and placed back into the pineapple that was Not on the menu. We can still taste the sweetness. One night we went to a special event and Chef April sent a beautiful large fruit plate just for us since we couldn’t have the regular menu for this event. One day we made guacamole in our unit, and I decided I’d ask the pool server for a bag of their homemade fresh corn chips (not on the menu). We had them hot in less than 10 minutes. For the entire 3 weeks, we didn’t have any eating problems (which is rare for us, given the difficult challenges), and we felt like we had our own private chefs. We can’t wait to return. Art Gechman

Our family had a wonderful and extremely comfortable stay at the Montage Kapalua. We have stayed at several resorts in Maui but the Montage was by far the most special. The concierge/front desk was attentive to our situation and upgraded us to a beautiful and extremely comfortable residence that really enhanced our stay. We are so thankful for that. We loved our pool experience at the Montage Kapalua and found the pool to be so lovely, serene and fun for adults and kids alike. The adult pool at the spa is also wonderful and so serene and lovely. The spa rocked. The breakfasts, poolside drinks/snacks and dinners were all delicious. The easy beach access was awesome. The concierge also accommodated our late checkout request with ease making for an extremely comfortable end to our trip. The construction on the property was handled well, didn’t interfere with our stay at all, and the resort on its own initiative offered a $200 daily credit to compensate for it which was appreciated. The Montage Kapalua is wonderful and we definitely plan to return whenever we come to Maui again.

We go to Hawaii every year and we have stayed at many of the 5 star resorts on the various islands. The Montage was truly an amazing experience and one where we will certainly go back. First, the rooms are very spacious and clean with all the amenities since many/most are residences so that lends itself to larger living spaces generally. Rooms are very up to date and we had a huge lanai with grilling appliances, couches and chaises with a 180 degree view of the ocean. The resort felt empty even though they said that they were close to capacity so we never had any issues with getting great chairs by the various pools, the waiters/waitresses generally remembered what we had eaten the night before and had recommendations accordingly. Scott at the front desk was very helpful with all of our asks and needs - felt like a personal concierge. Would recommend to anyone who hasn't been before ..we'll definitely be back!

Perfection. The service was outstanding and the hotel is immaculate. From check in to check out the level of professionalism was undeniable. They made the cutest hand drawn picture for my son!

There was construction going on at the property but it was very clear that there was a direct effort to ensure that the construction noice didn't interfere with the guests. We hardly knew that there was construction going on during our stay. There was a room credit due to the construction that we could use for breakfast and the pool. This offereing really made it clear that The Montage understood that the construction wasn't ideal and the offering of credits was more than generous. The property was amazing and the snorkeling was incredible. We made some fantastic memories here as this was one of the best overall family vacations that we've ever had. All of the staff was amazing but special shout out to Scott at the consierge desk and the guys at the valet station.
