Dated and Dirty!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The Kaanapali Alii resort does not have an on-site restaurant or a poolside bar. We stayed in a spacious but dated two-bedroom unit on the second floor. The kitchen was well-equipped, though the toaster needs replacing—it only warmed the bread’s exterior, not the inside. The locks in the master bedroom were inoperable. On the second night, my wife was bitten by a bug, waking up with a large red mark on her back. On the third night, she woke me to kill a large roach in the bathroom. The pool is nice but small and quiet. However, children are not allowed to use floaties, balls, or similar items in the pool. The beach was stunning, and it was great that the resort provided free chairs, though umbrella rentals incur a fee. The bed in our unit was uncomfortable, causing my wife and I daily back pain. On the last night, I slept on the floor with towels for relief. The furniture is a bit outdated, but the TVs are modern. Overall, I would recommend exploring other accommodation options.

Beautiful resort ! Close to many restaurant and shops. Picturesque beach and pool. Staff was very accommodating. Chairs and umbrellas were generally available. Rooms were clean and well maintained. It was a wonderful start to our vacation.

Best resort I've ever been to

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The best resort I've ever been to, and I've been to many. Not only is the staff and facility fantastic, but the location is extraordinary. The ocean views and the beach compare to the best I've seen in Australia and Thailand. The surf was strong and fun to play in without being overly intense. The water and snorkeling right in front of the hotel were good, but a short 20-minute beach walk took you to Black Rock, where you could swim with sea turtles and tons of fish! Our condo had an ocean view, and every night we enjoyed watching the sun set from our lanai. On a couple of nights, we watched whales from our patio!

Fantastic location and very nice rooms. Just a short walk to Whaler's village and also Black Rock. Great waves and fun right on the beach. Very nice pool area and fantastic staff. They have a grill area and nice patio area to eat on and enjoy the sunset.

The best!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Unit 265 was immaculate! Bed bug protectors on all the beds, soft, clean carpet in the living room and smart TVs, full ocean view, full Mountain View, power blinds, comfy lounge chairs, clean bbq area, free beach chairs, very white, soft towels for the pool! TVs, water, and coffee available in the shade by the pool and hot tub, easy access to restaurants and we saw a whale jump out of the water about 200 yards off shore! We stayed at the Westin prior to the Ali’i and we were soo glad to move and finally have more relaxation and room!!
