What a view from the rear patio!
We ate lunch on the rear terrace which had a superb view. The food and service were both excellent. Bring your camera, of course. That view is worth a few pictures at least. We saw a little of the inside of the Fairmont -- and yes, it's impressive.

Not sure what the big deal is...
I am sure this hotel was the place to stay back in the 1800s. Now it just feels old, tired, and overpriced. The staff was wonderful.

Disappointing Afternoon Tea at the Banff Springs Hotel
The afternoon tea experience was disappointing. Three out of five sandwiches lacked flavor (tuna, egg, ham) and all the breads were the same: mediocre dry white bread. The desserts were all cream-filled except the very plain madeleines. No variety. No fruit tarts or cakes. The tea was not loose leaf and was weak and cooled quickly. For the price the experience was truly lacking quality and ‘ class’. I expected much better.

This one would rate higher than a 5 if available. The hotel is fantastic as was the room. The bathroom was small but not unusual for old restored hotels. It was very adequate and well equipped. There were plenty of 120v outlets and USB. Adequate number of towels for two of us. If you are a TV watcher there are not many choices unless you want sports or news. The TV guide cannot be trusted. Of course, why are you in Banff if you want to spend your time watching TV, just stay home. There is a small refrigerator, no freeze compartment. There is a safe & iron. I didn't see a microwave but I didn't look for it either. We walked the 1.6 miles to the downtown. There is a shuttle available which we took back to the Fairmont. The view from our room was nice.
