Experience a masterpiece of modern architecture on the cliff of the Buergenberg within a fully integrated resort, located 1.800 ft high above Lake Lucerne and yet only 30 min away from the city center of Lucerne. This 140 acre resort including the hotel has been a legend since 1873, due to it fine pioneering heritage (Switzerland's first electric railway, Europe's highest outdoor Elevator) and first and foremost, the link to glamour and celebrity: It was here that, Audrey Hepburn was married, Charlie Chaplin regularly stayed, Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti made their home and many more celebrities, politicians, etc. returned year on year.

The Waldhotel Bürgenstock is a world-class hotel with magnificent views over mountains and rolling hills. I cannot describe in words the enfantement provided. Y the views, which you see from the room and the hotel restaurant and terrace. The lights change the landscape throughout the day, it’s mesmerising. The hotel comes complete with the charming bell sounds of cows (we were work up by them and the rooster, too!) and also little bells on the sheep, one can hear from the Verbena restaurant terrace. This summer, we spent there a wonderful 3 days with family. This was a truly relaxing and inspiring experience. Lovely mountain walks nearby. Don’t miss the « highest mountain elevator in the world, a 30 min stroll away). The arrival to the hotel is stunning - by boat from Luzern, on the hotel’s own Catamaran, and then up the mountain the funicular. Rooms very well appointed. The Waldhotel provides quiet luxe without the bling of the nearby Bürgenstock. It costs a lot but for a truly special occasion it’s a worthwhile expense because of the unique nature of the experience.

Beautiful location - almost idealic. We stayed at the Waldhotel and so experienced that part of the resort and spa. The spa experience was epic. Though beware if you have kids they are only allowed in the pool 4 hours out of the day… unless you want to buy a day pass over at the Alpine for $300 per day, per person. No thanks. Everything was beautiful, though the food and beverage was pricey. Be prepared to 2x your spend when on the mountain. Tip: do the Hammetschwand hike / it is gorgeous and relatively easy. Views are epic and the trail head is right by the resort.

We stayed at the Wald Hotel which is within the Burgenstock Resort. The Wald Hotel was a little distance from the main building but it is a big resort complex. The room was very nice with a view overlooking farm pastures and the mountains in the distance. The only negative was the room air conditioning system never cooled the room enough especially during the night for sleeping. Granted when we were there the temps were in the 90's but as Americans we were accustomed to cool air conditioned rooms.
