Reviews for High Peaks Resort

Great view but....

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I REALLY wanted to love this resort. I was looking forward to it as the highlight of our trip, but it didn't live up to it. First of all, the view is fantastic. We stayed in the Waterfront Collection- you really can't do any better than waking up, looking out your window, and being steps from the lake and seeing the mountains. It was breathtaking. Unfortunately, we lost power in the middle of the night. In July. That meant we had no air conditioning and the room was quickly too hot to sleep in. My husband also has sleep apnea so not having power is far from ideal. Finally, because the Waterfront Collection is underground and the drapes are motorized (and come down from the ceiling, not from side to side), the bedroom and bathroom were completely dark up until we checked out (after 9a.m., no idea when power finally was restored) and we had to use our cell phones as flashlights which we couldn't charge. The resort was also the only business around that seemed to be affected? We tried to keep our 4 and 6 year olds occupied during the morning by taking them swimming in the pool outside of our room, but were told it was closed because of the power outage and there would be no swimming. Overall, based on our experience it was not worth the $330/night we paid to not have air conditioning, TV, Wi-Fi, breakfast included, OR the ability to use the pool at all. When we asked if we could get a partial refund for the inconvenience we were told: No.

Great Views of Mirror Lake and Surrounding Hills

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Easy check in. Updated hotel, nice clean room on the 4th floor overlooking the pool with views of mirror lake and surrounding hills. Super convenient to nearby shops and restaurants. Loved the card access for parking and the convenience of the rooftop parking with direct access to the 4th floor. Nice large bath with rain shower head as well as hand held. Would stay again.

Great Weekend!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Thanks for a great weekend at your lovely resort. We stayed in the main building… Large room; king bed super comfortable and couch in room was nice addition to relax. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony (tiny) watching the lake. Free watersports (kayaks and paddle boats) made for a fun afternoon. Location is perfect at the end of the Main Street so we walked overnight to dinner, drinks and to the Olympic Center. Recommend highly.

So Happy We Stayed Here

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I am so glad we picked this resort for our trip to Lake Placid and even happier that we called the hotel directly to make our reservation. The online reviews were mostly good, but with three different buildings to choose from, it was not easy to decide. There were some negative reviews for the Waterfront Collection rooms and we anticipated staying in the main building. When we called the hotel, we spoke to Valentina, who helped us with our reservation. She informed us that the Waterfront building had been recently renovated. I can't thank her enough because the room was wonderful and had an unparalleled view. If you consider this facility, you can disregard any negative reviews of the Waterfront Collection. The people working at the resort are all attentive and make the experience better. This was a wonderful choice of places to stay at very reasonable prices.

Our go-to in Placid

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Our go-to hotel in Lake Placid. Provides an attractive Adirondack-style aesthetic. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, location by Main St is unbeatable, and the dining room is attractive with good food and service and a broad, casual menu.
