The Danna Langkawi, Malaysia

The breakfast at The Danna Langkawi was excellent, with a wonderful variety of delicious and sumptuous choices. The icing on the cake was the pianist, Emzac Mansur, who played beautifully and had a fantastic selection of pieces. His music created such a lovely atmosphere and made our breakfast so much more enjoyable. The pool area, with its many different types of pools, was equally invigorating and relaxing. Sitting on the private beach, sipping a drink while taking in the surroundings, was simply delightful. The staff were also consistently polite, warm, and helpful, which added greatly to the overall experience. A truly memorable and enjoyable stay.

We stayed at The Danna Langkawi as a family for four nights and had an absolutely wonderful experience. As a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the hotel offers the perfect combination of five-star luxury, character and highly personalised service. The Danna is a beautifully designed, medium-sized property with an elegant colonial style. It feels refined and luxurious without having the impersonal atmosphere of a large international chain. The service was exceptional throughout our stay, and the staff always did their very best to accommodate our individual requests. The answer was almost always “yes”, which made us feel genuinely valued and looked after. Our room was wonderfully spacious, with plenty of room for our suitcases and clothes. The bathroom was also very generous, with double sinks, a separate shower and a bathtub. Breakfast was a lovely experience, with a pianist playing the grand piano, adding to the calm and elegant atmosphere. The bar also had live performances on most evenings, which made it a very enjoyable place to relax after dinner. The quality and taste of the food were excellent, and we felt the prices were very reasonable for a luxury hotel. The hotel also operated a useful credit scheme during our stay, where every RM100 placed on the account provided an additional RM20 credit to spend on food and beverages. We would highly recommend The Danna to anyone visiting Langkawi who is looking for a luxurious five-star hotel with outstanding service, spacious rooms and plenty of character, rather than a standard chain hotel. We would happily return.
