The Danna Langkawi, Malaysia

We had a fabulous stay at The Danna. It really is a beautiful and luxurious place to stay in Langkawi. The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and nothing was a problem. Special mention to Cremmi (not sure of spelling sorry) from the Verandah bar who went above and beyond. Highly recommend

I don’t normally write reviews but we spent three amazing nights here at Danna, and the least I can do is to try to cover as much of what i experienced here. Exquisite resort-level room (with awesome sea view) and amenities, great dining services, the pool and private beach are all what you’d expect from a resort under Small Luxury Hotels. It isn’t a big resort but the buildings and gardens have historical and local tropical styles written all over them and I truly enjoyed the architectural aesthetics. But what really prompted me to write this review is the remarkable service. Since the check-in process, we’d been receiving super friendly and professional service from the staff throughout our entire stay. Special kudos to the staff at Verandah bar led by the phenomenal bartender Fahkrimi. The cocktails were fantastic and we had the best, most exciting and funniest conversations with him and the rest of the staff. The bartenders have truly inspired and creative ideas on mixing drinks, and the ones they customized according to our taste were unbelievably spot on. The atmosphere was light and relaxing thanks to the extraordinary live music sung/played by two talented artists (idk if you guys are reading this, but I loved your version of “birds of a feather”, and thx for the special song sung for us when we were the last two people in the bar lol). The passionate staff and the hospitality offered with a touch of cultural ambience here are what makes The Danna stand out and what made our trip at Langkawi so luxurious, exotic yet cozy at the same time. Thank you to everyone at The Danna for such a memorable vacation.

A wonderful hotel in a great location. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the reception areas high ceilings give a welcome like entering a palace! The colonial style is reflected throughout. The room was well appointed, we had wonderful views over the pool and sea, with the islands in the bay. The bed was comfy, a choice of pillows is available in the room and further options from housekeeping. The gardens are well maintained, the pool is large, there is also a separate children’s pool. Food in the restaurants was delicious, the portions were large (for our needs anyway!) there are three places to eat in the evening, Planters (western and Asian), The Terrace (Italian) and Straits & Co (Malay) during the day the pool bar served food. All the staff were friendly and always happy to chat and provide information about Langkawi. If you want to get out and about, nowhere is more than 30-40 min away, no public transport but Grab taxis are prevalent and arrive within minutes. Danna another lovely trip This was our 4th visit to Danna and once again we enjoyed it. We had given it a miss last year when we visited Langkawi as the rooms needed a make-over as they were tired. This has now happened and guests are now all the more comfortable for it. We noticed that the food offerings have been reduced in Planters but the quality remains good and there is still enough menu choice unless staying for 2 weeks. A new Chinese restaurant has been opened but we did not try it as the menu was quite traditional. We also did not try the signature Italian as coming from Europe we have many good Italian restaurants and preferred to sample the curries and other Asian dishes offered in Planters. We did have some issues during our stay with the service/food in Planters but managers Zulkeply and Mohd were efficient in sorting them out for us. The Verandah lounge staff need a special mention as they ensured our evenings got off to an enjoyable start. Kriemi the manager supported by Zakhwan, Amie, Aznie and John were always there to ensure service at the highest level found time to talk to the guests. One negative for us was the entertainment in the Verandah lounge which has live music 6 nights a week starting at 7pm. We found the music quite loud making it difficult for us to hold a conversation. We ended up taking our drinks to the library as 6 nights of live music was too much for us and there is no other quiet bar or area in which drinks are served in the hotel. This will not stop us returning but it is worth the management being aware of the issue.

My family of four had the absolute pleasure of staying at The Danna Resort and Beach Villas for 4 days and 3 nights and it did not disappoint. We had booked the Princess Villa and just WOW! It was just perfect. From the bathroom to the bedroom it was elegant and stunning. Definitley 5 Stars. But having your own private infinity pool was pure luxury and a real winner with the kids. But what we treasured most was the staff, any request was taken care of. Greeting you when you returned and waving you off when you left. We had a hot water issue day 1 Nik Nur was straight onto it to help. We wanted to book a massage but left it late ,Amirul made sure we were booked and there on time. We arrived late but Fafa knew we looked hungry and arranged afternoon snacks for us. From the gardeners , to the breakfast staff , to the cocktail bar we fealt at home. My wife really enjoyed the Pandan Cheesecake made by the chef for afternoon tea.We cannot thank you enough and we will definitely be back. 11 out of 10 experience. Love the Fadels.
