Our hotel is located on the enthralling Langkawi island or sometimes known as Legendary island as it is enshrouded with legends and myths. It is an archipelago of 104 islands overlooking the panoramic Andaman Sea and Straits of Malacca. This island derived its name from the abundance of eagles on the island.

A friendly welcome on arrival and a quick check-in. Before we knew it, we were in our lovely room with our luggage. We were on Level 5 in a Grand Viceroy Sea view room – the views across the bay were fabulous and we enjoyed the views of the mountains in the mirrors on our balcony. The room was well appointed with plenty of storage space, a comfortable bed and spacious bathroom with a bath with a view of the bay and separate shower. The balcony was huge with room for a couple of seats and a small table, a couple of loungers and a sofa – plenty of space to move around and admire the views. Water and biscuits were replenished daily with water being replenished again during evening turn down. We also liked the Macaroons and other chocolate treats which were left for us. Our room was kept immaculate during our stay. Unfortunately, we did have a problem with our room on our last day, and the hotel quickly arranged for us to sleep in another room for the night – no need to move anything because we returned to our own room in the morning. We were pleased with the way the hotel dealt with the problem, and it didn’t detract at all from our holiday. We enjoyed the food in the hotel restaurants and the special buffet night. A particular favourite were the meals we had in Straits and Co, enjoying the flavours of the food served. I loved the rice cups with crab. My husband used the Spa for a massage which he enjoyed. There were nice views from this side of the hotel into the mountains. The hotel grounds are lovely; lily pond on Level 3 and a garden in the centre of the hotel; very relaxing to hear the water and watch the koi. My husband joined the tour around the hotel grounds one morning which is run by a local guide. Huge pool with lots of loungers and opportunities to sunbathe. We were at the hotel for Chinese New Year and enjoyed the visit from the Lions. Every member of staff we met was friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. The team in the bar were particularly friendly and made some great Margaritas and Daiquiris. It was interesting to hear about the work the hotel does supporting the local community through a collaboration with SURI lifestyle where the discarded bed sheets are turned into handcrafted pouches. Only downside is that we wish we could have stayed for longer. A hotel we would definitely return to if we were planning another visit to Langkawi.

We recently spent a couple of weeks in Malaysia, including 5 nights at The Danna. Wow, what a hotel! For me, this hotel is as close to perfection as it's possible to get. Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff; spotlessly clean and spacious public areas; a beautifully appointed bedroom with plenty of storage space, a spacious bathroom and balcony overlooking the harbour; excellent quality restaurants; and a lovely pool area. The servicing of our room was done to an excellent standard, and it was nice to have a turn-down service in the early evening. We always enjoyed our pre-dinner drink in the lovely bar, with live music most nights. There was a choice of three different restaurants (Malay, Italian and Western/ international buffet) and all food options were executed to an very high standard. I particularly enjoyed breakfast, often accompanied by a wonderful pianist; options cooked to order included dosas, which I love! One or two other points to note: there's a good gym with weights and exercise machines that got surprisingly busy in the late afternoon. There are really no other food options in the local area; the nearest town is a 20 minute cab ride away, which has plenty of restaurant options. Lunch in the hotel cafe was always very enjoyable, and there's also food and drink options for guests staying poolside. The cafe also serves beautiful ice cream! Thank-you to every single member of staff at the hotel for making our stay so memorable.

Had a wonderful iftar at The Danna and it exceeded expectations. The buffet spread offered a great mix of traditional Malay dishes and international favourites. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. The grilled items, rich gulai , and variety of desserts were definite highlights, especially the Tiramisu. Literally to die for! Special mention to Chef Gary, who was a gracious and attentive host, taking time to engage with us and ensuring everyone had a pleasant dining experience. Service was great, and the overall ambience made it a perfect place to break fast with friends. Highly recommended for a memorable Ramadan dining experience!

We had 2 hotels on our list for our 2nd stay in Langkawi and settled on The Danna due to the great deal we were offered on our 9 night stay due to booking months in advance. We chose one of their Princess Villas and it was perfect from start to end. The villa has a sea view, large private pool, several outdoor seating areas & sunbathing decks, its own private spa area for in villa treatments, excellent aircon, 2 WCs, large separate lounge, huge bedroom with double doors to another outdoor seating area & large bathroom with bath, huge shower, double sink area etc. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Included in your stay is the offer of complimentary laundry services, 200 MYR food/drink credit each day, afternoon snacks and free airport transfers. The staff at the hotel are exceptional. Everyone we dealt with was efficient, couldnt be more helpful and consistently went above and beyond to help us out. The Guest Services Team available via WhatsApp provided constant immediate support & assistance with all manner of tasks from dinner bookings, arranging our complimentary afternoon snacks, a small medical emergency where we needed to visit a doctor & liaising with the chef to accomodate dietary requirements. The grounds of the hotel are beautifully kept too with lots of stunning mature plants that add to the aesthetic. We didnt feel the need to venture out of the hotel other than a mangrove kayaking tour which I had arranged myself. The immediate surrounding area the hotel doesnt have a huge amount to offer so if you’re looking for nightlife you’ll need to take a taxi or stay elsewhere on the island. The beach/sea are ok. I am a big sea swimmer but it’s pretty murky (not dirty) so just something to keep in mind if you are expecting crystal clear water. We loved our stay and would definitely return if we get the chance and would choose a villa again for the privacy and amenities they offer.

Stayed at the Danna Langkawi in February for a family holiday. The hotel is beautiful, set on the beach, with a large pool. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Tried 2 of the restaurants and the food was delicious. Didn’t visit the Italian restaurant but it looked nice. Special mention to Kai Qing who served us in the bar. Fabulous stay, would recommend.
