The Danna Langkawi, Malaysia

I haven't written a review in a while but largely because I think the reviews for this hotel are inflated. This hotel I would say borders 4*/5* but is not luxury. For me luxury is when every part of the stay feels special but there wasnt much special about this resort. Whilst the hotel itself is nice (a bit dated but nice and staff are friendly) nothing screams exceptional service. No on will do anything over and above standard hotel stay. Main good thing about this hotel is the food which all tastes really good. Key areas requiring improvement: - our check in experience was average. We ended up half taking our luggage inside ourselves. What was disappointing is that 2 days later we walked past the check in and saw people getting check in massages. When I asked what was happening and got told it was check in massages I mentioned I didn't get one. They seem to be inconsistent on who they provide this service to which was unfortunate. - we came with our two young daughters 2 and 5 and the kids pool was the worst we've ever experienced. It was just a shallow small pool on the side of the main one which was covered by construction for half the stay. We ended up staying in the shallower part of the main pool. - Limited/ average pool and beach service. There was no service on the beach and on the pool we ordered cocktails and they were not good. Pool side service only starts at 11am which if you have kids you will know is half way through your day already. Two days I even struggled to get water. - Facilities during the day need better upkeep as things were dirty - Service needed some more attention. On our first day at breakfast, we stood at the entrance for ages and no one came until we sat ourselves down. We then asked for a highchair and got ages again no one brought it.. I ended up spotting them and getting myself. - The sun and pool beds were quite uncomfortable - I kept sliding off! - Jacuzzi was not working while we were there and as mentioned above kids pool was covered by construction. Previously in our experience at other actual luxury hotels, you're informed at check in and provisions are made to accommodate. - kids club had very average activities. My kids liked the craft activities but I think it's better for younger kids like my kids age. Even then the activities were the most boring I had seen at a kids club. The first day the kids club was unattended with no one doing activities. The second day our kids went and were incorrectly told kids club is shut and they can't go in. Also kids club time (Midday to 8pm) didn't quite work. We went out to the other actual 5* resorts in Langkawi for lunch and dinner and it just another level there. I wouldn't say this is a luxury resort that is young kid friendly. You're better off spending just a slight bit more to go to the better resorts. I shared my feedback on the 2nd day and things changed a bit but that is not inherent luxury.

Our stay was beautiful and memorable. From airport pickup till our check out. My daughter had a high expectation from this trip, and the Danna met them all. The view from the room was spectacular and the room was very spacious. During our stay we experienced kayaking and jet skiing which both were memorable. The food at the planters was delicious and the dinner experience at the terrace was joyful. I would like to thank all the staff working at the Danna resort for everything that they are doing to keep the guests happy and comfortable. Will definitely come back again.

This is a late review from Christmas 2025. We spent a wonderful 5 nights from 23 December with our son and partner. Everything about the hotel was luxurious and we couldn’t have wished for more. Unusually for us, we ate at the hotel’s restaurants every night as the food and service were excellent. This included our Christmas dinner which the hotel made a tremendous effort to make extra special. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff from arrival to our reluctant departure. Of particular note was Syaza who gave us help with lots of information. We would not hesitate to return and recommend as a first class hotel.

We stayed at the Grand Merchant 2-Bedroom Suite in early June and had a wonderful experience. The suite was very spacious and well-equipped, with a kitchen and a comfortable living area, making it feel like a home away from home. The food was superb throughout our stay, and all the staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful. Their warm hospitality truly made our visit memorable. We would especially like to thank Zureimy Che Ani for taking the time to show us the beautiful 2-Bedroom Villa for our future visit. We really appreciated the excellent service and attention. We are already planning to return next year, and we definitely look forward to staying here again. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lovely stay, exceptional service. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at The Danna Langkawi, and what really stood out was the team’s attentiveness. We had a very minor hiccup early on in our room, and the staff couldn’t have been more responsive and caring in how they handled it, especially Nik Nur. They initially offered us a room change, which we politely declined since we were already settled in. But they followed up with us again, and ended up surprising us with an upgrade to a room with a beautiful sea and pool view, such a thoughtful gesture that we really weren’t expecting. Breakfast was great, the grounds were beautiful, and the whole stay felt calm and unwinding. It’s little touches like this that make a hotel memorable. We definitely felt well taken care of throughout our trip.
