Beautiful Hotel, Wonderful Staff - Will Be Back!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 17 hours ago

We had such a wonderful stay at The Danna Langkawi and honestly wished we could have stayed longer. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm and welcoming. The receptionist who checked us in (unfortunately I didn’t manage to get her name) was very pleasant and made us feel immediately at home. A special thank you to Ms Syakirah, Guest Service Manager, who was extremely welcoming and accommodating. She personally introduced herself, gave me her name card and told us not to hesitate to contact her if there was anything we needed during our stay. It was a simple gesture, but one that made us feel genuinely looked after. I must especially mention Ms Wani Sharif, Director of Food & Beverage, for something I will remember for a long time. My companion was unfortunately feeling unwell that morning and was unable to come down for breakfast. I was having breakfast alone and approached Ms Wani to explain the situation, thinking I would just take some eggs, toast and fruit back to the room for him. Instead, Ms Wani very thoughtfully arranged a complete breakfast for him, beautifully presented on a proper tray and sent directly to our room. I honestly wasn’t expecting that at all. It was such a kind and thoughtful gesture, particularly when someone was unwell, and I was incredibly appreciative of the care she showed us. That, to me, is genuine hospitality. Another special mention must go to Wan from the Concierge team. He was so friendly, helpful and patient with all our questions throughout our stay, and always made sure we were well taken care of. What impressed us even more was that he accompanied us in the hotel transport all the way to the airport, making sure everything went smoothly until our departure. It was such a lovely personal touch and a wonderful way to end our stay. Thank you, Wan, for looking after us so well. We stayed in the Duchess Grand Corner Sea View room, and it was absolutely beautiful. Spacious, elegant and luxurious, with a gorgeous view — easily one of the highlights of our Langkawi trip. We loved the room so much, and the hotel itself has a wonderful charm and atmosphere that makes it feel very special. The Danna is certainly a beautiful property, but it was the warmth and thoughtfulness of the people that made our stay truly memorable. Thank you Ms Syakirah, Ms Wani, Wan and the entire team for taking such good care of us. We left with wonderful memories and one thing is certain — we will be back.

rough start but very much redeemed

We stayed at the Danna on the second part of our holiday, we had booked directly with the hotel which had its good and bad points as it was not the easiest for communication. The arrival experience was underwhelming, we were not welcomed or assisted when we arrived, we bought our own luggage into the hotel lobby whilst a couple staff watched on. We sat down to check in and whilst going though the booking we realized that the transportation back to the airport at the end of the stay had been removed from the final booking despite it being on the earlier discussed booking. It was not be big deal as Taxi's are efficient and economical, it was just frustrating. After a lengthy discussion which was not welcome after a travel the resort agreed to arrange the transport. We had booked the Grand Marina view room as the view looked nice of the boats, however, we were quite disappointed that the view was actually more of a carpark with a road with the small marina in the distance. The issue we had was that we found the room, particularly the shower had not been cleaned thoroughly. We spoke with Mariko the Duty Manager as we were quite upset from our arrival to room experience and she seem genuinely upset at the situation. She arrange a different room with the sea view and for our unpackaged and repacked luggage to be moved to the new room. From this point onwards we felt that the resort experience was much improved, Mariko and her team worked very hard to ensure that our stay was memorable and the service on all fronts was excellent from the housekeeping team, to the pool and restaurant staff. We want to consider the first couple of hours as a blip as the rest of the stay was great. The hotel itself is a beautiful colonial style building with great architecture, interior design and landscaping throughout. The pool is vast and a good temperature, it suffers from the amount of leaves and flowers which blow into it and there were unfortunately quite a few tiles missing in the pool which really brings down the appearance. There was ample beds around the pool with plenty of shaded and unshaded options, a recommendation would be to have a few more family sun lounger areas as they were all in pairs. We mostly ate at planters restaurant though we were happily surprised at the meal we had in the Malaysian restaurant which was one of the best meals we had in Langkawi, we had the non-veg tasting menu. Planters was good and for adults it was a good range of selection, though the kids menu was exhausted quite quickly. We did not try the Italian restaurant as we found it quite expensive considering Planters had good food for less. We really liked the games/billard room and the library which were mostly empty, we liked that there was a kids club but we didnt find time to use it. The beach was a little too course and we only swim in the sea once but the pool was so good it was a better option. Our recommendation would be to go for the sea view if you are visiting. The staff gave us a bag of gifts as we left, it was unnecessary as we had had a great stay after the initial start but it was a nice way to end our stay

5 night stay at The Danna Langkawi.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This stay was our third trip to Langkawi and the first staying at the Danna. I booked the hotel directly with the hotel and had excellent communication from the hotel from the time of booking to our arrival. Our stay was from 13th to 18th September. Right from the very outset the hotel staff made us very welcome and very quickly all staff members knew our names. Service throughout the hotel was impeccable. Our room (a Grand Viceroy Sea View) was very spacious, the bathroom huge and the bed comfortable. There was also a nice balcony with two full sized sun loungers. Planters restaurant was our favourite for both breakfast and dinner. I particularly like the fact that the hotel has detailed menus on its website for all F&B venues. The pool area is really nice with attentive service as and when required. We also had a pedicure in the Spa which was very relaxing.

We would happily return to The Danna & highly recommend it to other travellers

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at The Danna. From the moment we arrived, every member of staff made us feel incredibly welcome. From the porters, concierges & reception team to housekeeping, the F&B staff & the Resort Manager, everyone was professional, warm & cheerful, & nothing ever seemed too much trouble. Remarkably staff appeared to know which room we were staying in, how long we had been there & even how much time remained of our holiday. We were made to feel very special, something we saw being extended to all guests throughout our stay. We're not usually ones for any fuss, but all the thoughtful touches were delivered so discreetly and naturally that it simply enhanced the experience. Our room (419), a Grand Marina View room, was exceptionally spacious & comfortable, with a king-size bed, armchairs, dressing table, two wardrobes, plenty of storage, a large balcony & a large bathroom with a bathtub, walk-in rain shower & double sinks. We also appreciated the daily replenishment of filtered water, Nespresso pods & TWG tea bags, along with delicious gluten-free (GF) sweet treats to accommodate a dietary requirement. Housekeeping was outstanding throughout (with special thanks to Karmila, Fatin & Amim for their excellent service). We received lovely little personalised notes & even a birthday banner, balloons & a GF cake! It was very much appreciated. Throughout our stay staff were busy on a daily basis maintaining & cleaning the property inside and out. The pool, gardens, beach & guest areas throughout were all spotless. The gym was well equipped & spacious & the Spa was also very good. The restaurants were all superb (especially The Terrace) & catered for allergens very well; staff awareness & knowledge of ingredients made us feel confident we were in safe hands. Special thanks to Hakimi, Ilah, Fatihah, the Chefs & all the F&B team. We're just sorry we can't remember everyone's names to mention individually - Resort Manager Fuad Hamzah appears to have a great team of staff. Many thanks again to everyone.

Dana is a stunning property

We absolutely loved our stay at Dana in Langkawi. The quality of the hotel and rooms is fantastic. The private beach and views of the Andaman Sea are stunning. Very well maintained hotel with a really charming old world luxury feel. Amenities, pool and F&B are top notch. The best part is how well the staff looked after all the guests. Special shout out to Saiful and Donna for taking very good care of us and making our stay comfortable.
