The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi

To stay in this hotel was a fantastic experience thanks to the service team and especially to Aidil.

We stayed at both The Ritz and the Four Seasons on Langkawi. The Ritz wins. Better all around. The staff is better. We arrived after a 14hr flight and they let us take advantage of the breakfast that morning which was super appreciative by my family. Little things like that go a long way. We left a stroller and they were willing to drive it to us- again very generous. We had a nice comfortable room. The beach is great- has some trees you can sit under when it's blazing hot out. They had an awesome buffet on the day we were checking out and let us stay on property until the buffet started. It was excellent. Breakfast was excellent too. I would choose the Ritz over four seasons.

If you are looking to spoil yourself for a holiday, where you chill, swim, eat and be feted for a few days, you'd be duly spoiled at Ritz-Carlton Langkawi. The 100 or so suites and villas are built into the rain forest. Each room is feels like it's on its own and camouflaged into the forest yet facing the sea. The room is needless to say, luxurious albeit we spent most of our time at the pool. When it overlooks into the blue sky and green sea with a mojito or iced the tarik at your beck and call, who needs the beach although there's that too. There is a 24 hour buggy service to bring you around the estate resort to the restaurants, pools, spa and activities. There must be enough drivers and buggies because there's immediate service when you call for them. The restaurants offer a variety of cuisine from a most wonderful breakfast spread and dinner service, to a casual pool diner and al fresco bar, a beach grill and a surprising unique chinese restaurant. The icing on the cake must be their consistent, excellent personalise service. I reckon they must have a great CRM system but it takes training, authentic attitude and culture to greet every guest by name, everywhere you are at the resort. We enjoyed personal chats with many of the staff and loved their varied stories and travels. Kudos to director of f&b Paul, executive sous chef Jega, restaurant managers Cistina and Ling, who made us feel like friends and family. The unsung housekeeping provided delightful treats daily along with personalised messages, that we should be calling them butlers. We had the occasional showers (this is the rain forest lah!) but the sunset is glorious along with the evening stars. Thanks Langkawi for putting on the Ritz.

We had originally been deciding between The Ritz-Carlton and another luxury resort for our visit to Langkawi, and ultimately chose the other property. Unfortunately, after just one day we were so disappointed that we decided to move. Fortunately for us, The Ritz-Carlton had an Ocean Front Villa available for exactly the dates we needed! We are so glad things worked out that way because staying at The Ritz-Carlton was one of the highlights of our trip. They simply get everything right. I called around 10:30 a.m. to inquire about availability, my husband completed the reservation around 12:30 p.m., and when we arrived just a few hours later, the villa had already been beautifully prepared for our anniversary celebration—including rose petals, a special cake, and even a bubble bath waiting for us. It was an incredibly thoughtful surprise. The resort itself is stunning. It blends seamlessly into the surrounding rainforest while still offering all the elegance and comfort you would expect from a world-class luxury resort. Our Ocean Front Villa was spectacular—spacious, beautifully appointed, exceptionally private, and with breathtaking views over the Andaman Sea. Sitting on our terrace each morning with a freshly delivered cup of coffee quickly became my favorite part of the day. (Yes—they'll happily bring you coffee whenever you like!) The villa was thoughtfully designed with luxurious amenities, incredibly comfortable furnishings, and wonderfully soft robes—a small detail that I always appreciate. The beach is beautiful, with plenty of space, and never once felt crowded. One feature we particularly appreciated was how well the resort accommodates different types of travelers. There are many families as well as couples, but the resort is designed so that everyone feels comfortable. Separate family and adults-only pools and restaurants allow guests to enjoy exactly the atmosphere they prefer. Families appeared to be having a wonderful time, while couples seeking a quieter experience could easily find it. We also booked one of the resort's private excursions—a luxury yacht tour through the mangroves with just the two of us aboard. While certainly a splurge, it was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. Watching eagles swoop down to feed, exploring the mangrove forests, and visiting the bat cave in complete comfort made it well worth the cost. The dining throughout the resort was consistently excellent. Breakfast offered an impressive variety of both Western and Asian dishes. I especially enjoyed the specialty teas and fresh green juices, while my husband loved the Malaysian and other Asian breakfast selections. We had dinner at Hai Yan, Horizons and Langkawi Kitchen, all of which were outstanding. Be sure not to miss sunset at Horizons—it is absolutely spectacular. We also had lunch at the Beach Grill, which was equally enjoyable. The food was beautifully prepared and flavorful without being toned down for international visitors or overly spicy—simply balanced and delicious. And if you enjoy cocktails, Horizons serves some truly exceptional ones. What truly distinguishes this resort, however, is the service. Every single person we encountered was genuinely warm, attentive, and eager to make our stay special. The atmosphere throughout the resort is relaxed and welcoming, and we particularly appreciated the international mix of guests. We enjoy traveling to places where people from many different countries come together, and this resort attracted a wonderfully diverse group of families, couples, and solo travelers. The overall vibe was sophisticated yet completely unpretentious. Looking back, we're actually grateful that our original plans at the other resort didn't work out because it gave us the opportunity to experience this remarkable resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi without hesitation. If you're considering staying here, I would highly recommend splurging on one of the villas—it truly transforms the experience.

We just finished the second part our 13 night stay on the island of Langkawi at the Ritz Carlton, Langkawi and it was exceptional. We had transferred from another excellent stay at a different property so had high expectations. The staff at the Ritz met or exceeded every one. From the moment we checked in we were taken care of before we knew we needed anything. Daniel who transported us from check-in to our room was fantastic. Our room was a highlight of the trip. We were upgraded to a spacious suite with a view of the ocean. The rooms are exceptionally appointed and the resort overall is immaculate. Almost un real considering how much rain and wind the area takes during monsoon season. I’d recommend requesting a room between Langkawi Kitchen and Horizon as you will definitely be spending some time in those two locations. At Langkawi kitchen the staff was so attentive. Nadia greeted us every morning and in no time at all came to know what table we liked and our favorite morning drinks. Although her responsibility was complete after showing us to our table she always made sure to check in and make sure our needs were being met. We spent our afternoons at Horizon near the pool and within the sunset viewing area. Jenie was always there first to greet us and welcome us back. Luqman took care of us everyday while wording light appetizers and drinks. He always knew exactly when we needed anything and was so amazing! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Shana who was the bartender. Although we truly enjoyed the cocktails on the menu, she had no problem crafting something off menu or even surprising and delighting us with a new creation of her own. Exactly the type of experience you are looking for when wanting to connect with people. Nobody does it as well as the staff at Horizon! We had a great dinner buffet at The Beach Grill, but the biggest standout was the Chinese Restaurant Hai Yun. It was actually our interaction when visiting for dinner prior to deciding to stay there with Quayam that motivated us to move over to the resort. Although the food was second to none, Quayam made our dinners so special. He gave fantastic recommendations. We enjoyed the Crispy Bejing Style Beef, the Lobster Prawn Crab wontons, the Wok Friend wonton noodles and the sweet and sour chicken to name a few things. To our delight he chef also made two special dishes for us on our final night at the resort including a spicy Sichuan style prawn that was spectacular! Even if not staying at the resort, you must visit Hai Yun for a meal. During my stay I also had the chance to visit the spa and Fatiha provided a great service. She made sure the environment was perfect with the right lighting, temperature and music level to enjoy a relaxing 90 min massage. My only complaint is that it couldn’t last forever. Be sure to meet the concierge Muhen. He is a wealth of knowledge and made excellent recommendations for our time away from property as well as time on the resort. To only further make the experience better, he is genuinely a delightful person. He provided us all the tips and tricks to enjoy the usually crowded Skycab nearby, as well as recommended a local craft complex so that we might get gifts to bring home to our family. Lastly, Shah did an amazing job during our checkout. He made it that much harder to leave by being the last friendly face and reminding us of all the things we loved about our stay. He was efficient and caring making sure to gather any possibly feedback we might have so that the staff could continue to perform with excellence and be the first thought if returning to the island. Overall, we could not have asked for a better stay. The property is fantastic, but what makes this place is the people! I can’t say I could recommend an entire staff more. We will absolutely be back to visit.
