The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi

From the moment I checked in, things went downhill. The service felt disorganized and surprisingly indifferent—definitely not what I expected from a high-end hotel. Communication was slow, requests were forgotten or ignored, and I constantly felt like I was inconveniencing the staff just by asking basic questions. The room itself was another letdown. While it looked great at first glance, it didn’t feel properly maintained—small issues everywhere that added up and made the stay uncomfortable. For the price they charge, I expected attention to detail, cleanliness, and a sense of care. Instead, it all felt tired and poorly managed. What disappointed me most was the overall atmosphere: rather than feeling like a relaxing escape, the resort felt chaotic and impersonal. Nothing about the experience matched the luxury reputation, and I left more stressed than when I arrived. I genuinely hope this was an isolated situation, but based on my stay, I cannot recommend this property at all.

My fiancée and I spent 6 nights here in November 2025 to celebrate her 50th birthday. The resort is incredibly well maintained with all areas accessible via complimentary golf buggy service. As a Platinum Elite Bonvoy member our room was upgraded on check-in to an ocean view room. Our room was fantastic! Spotless clean, comfortable and well supplied with complimentary treats and gifts. Miki really took great care of us both during our stay and acknowledged my Marriott Bonvoy status incredibly well. With the Horizon Pool and Bar closed due to maintenance we were disappointed to discover that management closed restaurants on a frequent basis, resulting in no availability for evenings meals until after 9pm. This was very frustrating as in the early evening the ‘fully booked’ restaurants were virtually empty. On one night we had to take in-room dining as we could not get a meal in a restaurant on the resort until 9.15pm and on another night we were given a list of external restaurants recommended by the resort resulting in us having to take a 45-minute taxi ride to the other side of the island as more than half of the recommended restaurants on the list were closed! Our disappointment with restaurant table availability was made all the more frustrating as the restaurants on the resort were excellent. The food in the Langkawi Kitchen was excellent. Breakfast served there was absolutely delicious and plentiful, with great service provided. In the evenings dinner in this restaurant was, again, first-class with the Malaysian menu being delicious. The on-site Chinese restaurant (Hai Yan) was also very good. The beach at the resort was very nice with a lifeguard on duty - Qayyum the lifeguard was so helpful when we went kayaking. Azizul who worked by the pool at the Beach Grill provided superb service throughout our stay. Sha, Adip and Adam also took really good care of us in the evenings whilst we enjoyed a drink in the Beach Grill. Ideally, I would have scored this resort 4.5/5. A 5 isn’t a genuine assessment but a 4 would be too harsh, all because of the poor decisions made by management concerning restaurant table availability.

The Ritz Carlton Langkawi felt beautiful the moment we arrived. The bird sounds and the gentle rustling of the trees made the whole place feel alive yet so tranquil. The ocean breeze added this calm that stayed with us through the entire stay. Every staff member greeted us with a genuine smile and it made us feel welcomed in a very real way. Our beach villa was wonderful. It sat right on the beach and the layout of the room felt thoughtful and inviting. The bed and living space were so comfortable that it felt like a private little world. The butler service was attentive and made everything easy. The spa was another highlight. The therapists were skilled and the whole session felt healing. Hai Yan served Chinese dishes that were full of flavor while the seafood at the Beach Grill was fresh and delicious. Overall the stay left us feeling rested and grateful. We hope to be back in the beautiful place of peace and calm soon!

We had fun, experience was perfect for honeymoon. The room and the resort was extraordinary and the staff were very friendly and professional. Everything exceeded our expectations.

One of the Best hotels we have ever stayed. You get to see sandy beach, amazing views and nature with Luxury at one spot. A lot of wild life around. Staff was amazing, very helpful, customer service at excellent level. Rooms were very comfortable with luxury amenities. Food selection was good.
