The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi

From the very start the Ritz Carlton in langkawi has surpassed all expectations. No request too much. The food is fabulous in all 4 restaurants, the cocktails delicious, the monkeys cheeky (often trying to pinch food). But all of that is dwarfed by the incredibly attentive staff. Big mentions especially to Ben and Faris in the Beach grill, house keeper Prakash, Natasha (front of house ), intern Julie. Thank you to all the staff who have made this fabulous holiday unforgettable. Definitely need to return.

This resort is a difficult one to review. Maybe the biggest problem for me derived from coming from a previous several day stay at The Datai, which is far superior in all aspects (and also in price). This overall stay was good but could have been much better. The facilities are there but they are not really well kept or well thought. I felt there was always something off or something missing. For example the adults pool is huge with amazing views and nice water temperature but it was decided to put white paint stripe in the border that is falling off in the water and the surrround space is cramped and not beautiful. There was also no care to remove leaves or dirt in the pool during the day so the water was never perfect clean. The horizon bar nearby is just in bad condition and poorly designed. Seems like a cheasy old bar at a random beach. There must be more attention in details everywhere! There was constantly something almost thorn, something ugly or something not well designed almost everywhere (except the chinese restaurant which was perfect). Let me just question both beach entrances..I never saw something as weird and cramped at both sites... A stair with constant water draining at one side, a small gap in a cramped garden at the other...An the pool having various different chairs with different colors and condition is just not understandable, besides everyone cluttered together in the pool chairs..and the list goes on. Adding to that the beach is not gorgeous enough since the water is mostly stagnant and dark and the lack of activities made this whole expericence just ok or even boring after the third night. One particular thing that I feel outrageous is not offering complimentary non motorized water sports at this price tag! Just unacceptable! The major plus for me was the ability to see very closely the friendly dark monkeys in their habitat, it was very special indeed! The Chinese restaurant was also a major plus, both in food quality, views and a perfect decor! Next some other points that I would like to highlight: Negatives: - some ants and even a coackroach was found in the villa bathroom. This is an isolation or poor repelent condition that should be fixed. The condition was also not perfect - broken tiles, rusty finishes, dirty outside windows. - main pool with crazy white paint dissolving in the water. Main pool layout very cramped and not elegant. Not understandable as the amount of space the resort has. This was the main spot of the resort and could have been soo much better. Or else consider adding another big adult pool in the property. - horizon bar should be totally renovated. Ugly decor. - better plants layout to cover some areas. - lack of complementary activities. By the third day everyone was bored. - very bad smell in the reception lobby due to strange plant scent selection in this area. Reception lobby was not impressive also. - bed very soft. - breakfast repetitive. Big lines to enter breakfast ate pick hours. Egg station lacking quality every single day!! Fruit station lacking options and most unripe everytime. Too much focus on curries recipes. - buggies taking too long and not well distributed throughout the property. - beach grill restaurant decor lacking and not elegant. - library with few books. - sewer smell around horizon bar backwards. Positives: - big and nicely decor room. - Hai Yan Chinese restaurant with great decor and food quality. Maybe the hotel should direct more people here and improving the breakfast spread and choices at this place. - nice service overall. - great bath amenities - Diptique Phylosikos. - amazing cleaning service by our house cleaner Mr Khadga. Thank you!! INDEED! Everyday was perfect clean and the bug issues previously refered were not due to lack of cleanliness but to lack of building or sewer isolation. - Jenie and Fan were also top notch staff!! In the end this a resort with a lot going for it and a lot going against it, with lots of things could be improved with attention management.. (beach area, pools area, more activities, better decor, rooms condition renovation..). Luxury is in the details, and details are just not here.. at least for now...

We have been fortunate enough to stay in some excellent, luxury hotels around the world, but this is without doubt the best. ❤️ The location is beautiful and the hotel facilities and dining locations are perfect. The staff throughout the entire hotel have been wonderful and so helpful. Sara, our Butler and her team have been outstanding and went the extra mile for us. 🙏🙏Special thanks also to Firdaus and the rest of the team at The Beach Grill, for their friendly and attentive service. We stayed in a beachfront villa (27) which was amazing, however, as we asked for late check out and the villa was needed, we were moved to a standard room for the day and that was also outstanding. We would definitely recommend this hotel. So sad to be leaving ( but just enjoying a last lunch at the Beach Grill first🤣)

My wife and I stayed for four days this past December at The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi in a Corner Junior Suite, and it was exceptional from start to finish to say the least. The suite was immaculate, extraordinarily spacious and luxurious. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by a team that consistently anticipated our needs. Check-in was seamless in the beautiful open-air lounge, where we enjoyed the view along with welcome drinks and snacks. A special thank-you to Jafni, who escorted us to our suite and couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast at Langkawi Kitchen is out of this world. Sukri, along with Qash and Aniq, delivered exceptional service and absolutely deserve recognition. For sunsets, Horizon Bar is the place to be, stunning Langkawi views paired with delicious food and drinks, made even better by Jenie, who is simply a superstar. We also had dinner at The Beach Grill, where Sufiyan took wonderful care of us as we enjoyed some of the best Andaman Sea seafood. The highlight of the entire trip, though, was our dinner at Hai Yan. Qayyum and Chef Travis, along with the entire team, executed everything impeccably. The personalized service and refined Chinese cuisine, in such a breathtaking setting, made it an exceptionally unforgettable experience. There are no words enough to describe and justify how perfect the entire experience was. To conclude, The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi truly sets the benchmark for what a luxurious island getaway should be. Lastly, Brena and Muhendra also deserve special mention for helping manage this orchestra so flawlessly.

Khadga is the best housekeeper. He prepared bubble bath every day during our stay and was always smiling and super kind. Staffs were very nice to us, we felt very welcomed there. Enjoyed every moment of our stay, we will absolutely come back!
