The majesty and mystery of an ancient rainforest contrasted by the sparkling Andaman Sea create the beautiful backdrop of The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi. The 5-star hotel blends Malaysian touches throughout the guest experience. Locally inspired treatments at the island’s only overwater spa, activities that engage with the culture, dining that draws from tradition and luxury accommodations with rainforest views from every angle are what make a stay at this hotel an unforgettable experience.

This review is for the Ritz’ Hai Yan 海宴restaurant at Langkawi we went yesterday - after being unattended for 40min at the balcony table, we were very unhappy with the level of service and ready to leave, the manager Qayum turned it around. He sincerely apologized for the mistake and offered us to stay for dinner, as he noticed it was dining hour and our 6yo daughter must be hungry. The food was delicious and authentic, the sunset was beautiful and ambiance great, but most of all, we owed our night to the outstanding service by Qayum, he was courteous, attentive, and turned angry customers into happy ones. When we come back to Langkawi again, will definitely drop by the restaurant Hai Yan.

This is a review of a meal at the hotel’s Beach Grill. We looked at the option of staying at the Ritz Carlton for our family’s break in Langkawi but in the end, opted for another resort nearby as the Ritz didn’t look like it was the most practical option for anyone with mobility issues, let alone a wheelchair-user. We had 2 elderly persons in our family party and when I called ahead to check the suitability of our having a meal there, the operator who took my call practically tried to turn me off the idea, suggesting that I might want to dine somewhere else. It was quite extraordinary (-ily rude). The entire resort is built into a series of rocky sea cliffs, and the only way to get around is with the use of buggies operated by the bell staff. I booked anyway and we had a meal at the Beach Grill. We had no issue with getting to our table at the Beach Grill. The meal was good, if pricy but that was not unexpected. Their new executive chef greeted and chatted to us in a very friendly and professional manner. We might have considered returning again if the reservation staff hadn’t been so off-putting. I can see from other reviews that staying guests are treated very well, the management might want to consider better training for front-facing staff who might have to deal with questions about being disabled-friendly and being more inclusive.

Once more, we had a truly memorable stay at this beautiful resort with its fantastic staff. From the beginning to the end - we felt in a completely different world, where the ladies & gents from the Ritz Carlton took exceptional well care of us, and addressed all our needs in any potential way. Food is excellent, rooms are spacious and very modern, and the relaxation factor is very high. Special thanks to Mr Ilie who took extra care of us and together with his team created memories to last!
