The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi

We are frequent travelers, especially to beach resorts, and this one was especially lovely! We would love to go back and know we would be greeted warmly and likely remembered because of how great the staff is! I am a titanium elite and was given a great room upgrade and a list of other perks as well. Some of the highlights: - the personalized exceptional service. Our butler, Sara, was amazing and went so far above and beyond to make our trip special and help us celebrate our wedding anniversary. She was absolutely lovely and so thoughtful. - hotel grounds were immaculate and the rooms are fabulous. Get a pool villa if you can! - all hotel staff, from the breakfast workers, the beach staff, the bar staff, the drivers to and from the airport, and our housekeeper Anton made us feel welcomed, special, and remembered. - breakfast was delicious and the free flow sparkling wine was a wonderful touch. - there was a marine biologist who was passionate and excited to talk to you about the wildlife, even letting me hold a sea cucumber. That was a really nice touch. He was happy to realistically inform us about the daily jellyfish risk, which was very much appreciated. The negatives/warnings: - there are a lot of mosquitos. If you’re a mosquito magnet like I am, be warned. The hotel 100% gives you mosquito spray so not a ding on them. Just be more proactive about using it than I was. - it rains a fair amount in Langkawi. Just factor that into your plans.

Ambience, staff and food were top-notch! I had the best hotel stay so far! Celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary at Ritz‑Carlton Langkawi, on my 10th visit, truly felt like coming home. This resort never fails to impress — from leadership visible on the ground to the smallest thoughtful gestures (Thanks Amirul, Bella and Pak Long a.k.a Rahim!). GM Mafalda Tavares has brought noticeable improvements: Faster buggy turnaround, elevated food quality at Langkawi Kitchen under Chef Okan's steer, and a team spirit that radiates everywhere. The Rainforest villa in which my room was upgraded, remains a sanctuary — spacious, serene, with a bathtub overlooking greenery, private pool, and outdoor wooden deck for pure relaxation. Compared to The Datai, I find Ritz more accessible and seamless. Dining highlights include Beach Grill, my favorite for dinner, with fresh catch, ribeye, and coolers that feel like a perfect symphony. Horizon Bar is unmatched for sunsets, cocktails, and shisha. Hai‑Yan offers a floating dining experience with dim sum and crispy bean curd amongst the favourite, while the spa facial followed by jacuzzi and sauna was a treat - thanks Mieza, Lola and Ayu (sorry if i didn't recall your name correctly!). The infinity pools deserve special mention — the adults‑only pool at Horizon is a tranquil escape with sweeping views, while the family pool near Beach Grill is spacious and lively, perfect for unwinding together. Surrounded by nature, the resort feels like a dream: hornbills gliding overhead, dusky monkeys and squirrels darting through the trees, and the chorus of crickets at night reminding you that you’re living in a tropical paradise. What makes Ritz‑Carlton Langkawi extraordinary is its people. Special thanks to the leadership team — Harris, Ramy Khamis, Paul, Sudhir, and Chef Okan — for being present with their crew. Utmost appreciation to Amirul and Bella, from FO for surprises and thoughtful touches, from room decorations to Raya treats that made us feel at home. Gratitude also to Que, Captain Akmal, Captain Aizat, Chef Kit Wong, Qayyum, Paul (new F&B director), Fan, Naufal, and the housekeeping team — Farhana, Juju, Farrah — for flowers, tent setups, and warm gestures. A heartfelt thank you as well to the housekeeping team for the surprise bouquet of flowers and the personalized shoe horn with my name on it — such thoughtful details that made me feel truly special. The Beach Grill team — Udin, Adip, Sha, Shamim, Sufiyyan, Farhan, Mizi, Syed Danial, and Rizal — deserve recognition for their kindness, refreshing drinks, and even sourcing a fan for my little boy during dinner. At Langkawi Kitchen, thanks to Nadia, Mushameer, Anis, Najati, Aniq, Fais, Qis, Chef Yong, Chef Syafiq, and Shahril for the Raya treats and Ipoh white coffee. Bellman team — Capt. Akmal, Captain Aizat, Rahim (Pak Long), Azwan, Sayfudin, Shahmi, Aiman Baling, Aiman senior, and Iqram — always reliable. Horizon team — Shukri (good to see you again!), Jenie (thanks for the good chat), Alif, Syazwan, Telani, Telanai — made sunset evenings unforgettable. Kundang team — Brenna, Shah, Munajat — great to see you again. Special appreciation also to the Ritz‑Kidz team — Que, Zuha, Juju, Fazli — for provoding care and add-on nanny services that made our family stay so much more comfortable. We absolutely adored the Ritz Carlton Langkawi! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome and at home. We were immediately greeted by Aidil who was to be our butler for our 8 night stay and I can't thank or praise him enough. His kindness and incredible work ethic elevated our stay to the point that we didn't want to leave. I could go on all day about Aidil, but he is a true credit to Ritz Carlton and we so look forward to seeing him next year. The villa was lovely with a wonderful pool overlooking the sea and even from there, we saw so much wildlife… Eagles, sea otters, monitor lizards and of course monkeys (thankfully they arrived and left within 5 mins every few days so didn’t cause any chaos). The Grounds were spectacular, but the beach felt really special. It’s the most beautiful cove with soft sand and clear water, we made sure we swam there each day. We had great breakfasts and meals in all the restaurants. Our favourite was Horizon, where the food, drinks and sunsets were off the chart. I used the gym most days, which was great and very well equipped. As you can tell, we loved the place and the people and would recommend it to anyone going to Langkawi.

After spending hours looking through YouTube videos of places to stay in Malaysia, I finally chose the Ritz Carlton Langkawi after finally being convinced by a 10/10 review from FlipFlop Traveller. My wife wanted a rainforest/Robinson Crusoe experience, I wanted a luxury villa, a beach and great dining. The Ritz Carlton delivered on everything. There were too many great points to write here, it's probably easier to say that I've visited many top hotels around the world, and I couldn't find anything to fault. One of the best hotels I've visited in my life, and I have to give a mention to Faz and the in house butler team that made the entire stay so stress free. We will definitely be back.
