2nd year to Secrets Many thanks once again to Laura B for making us feel most welcome again and helping us to upgrade our room to same one as last year All the staff at Secrets are always friendly and efficient and will take the time to have a chat We cannot fault the staff no matter their position within the hotel I will be doing another review aimed at the management/ Hyatt about the Star status

Beautiful hotel. Clean and welcoming on arrival. Porter to take bags to room was also very friendly. Room was clean with plenty of cosmetics. Fridge in room was stocked with soft drinks, water and two beers. Coffee machine pods were always available. Hairdryer with diffuser was available. Free use of a safe in the room. Plenty of hanging space and hangers. Not much drawer storage though. Restaurants were run well and staff were efficient and well trained. Weather wasn't good so restaurants were cold, which was a shame with there being a few outdoor ones. Has plenty of sun beds around several pools, although some beds do need replacing as quite uncomfortable. (padding has gone). Pool towels are on offer and can be changed daily. If there was one complaint it would be that the hotel doesn't offer a shuttle bus to either the nearest bus stop or into a town. It is a 20-25 minute walk to the local bus stop and wouldn't be suitable for elderly or not fit as it's up quite a steep hill. I would recommend this hotel.

We were warmly greeted at reception by Walter who offered us a glass of bubbly which was very welcome. The rooms are very clean and cleaned daily with toiletries (soap, gel, moisturiser, shampoo conditioner) provided and replenished when needed. We were bed and breakfast and we're given two small bottles of water daily. A silly niggle: there is music around the pool area which can become annoying over time once you notice it's on a loop and random unknown covers of the originals. We spent 5 days in the new year and even though the weather was not as good as the previous year we (and two adult daughters) really enjoyed our time away. We took full advantage of the free activities: Pilates in the mornings; sip and paint/ cocktail making / tennis / gym / archery in the afternoons. Neomi lead most of the activities and she is great at all of them, smiley, helpful, nothing too much trouble and just a lovely person. Highly recommend.

What a fantastic hotel. The staff are incredible. Helpful, friendly and professional without being at all overbearing. They appear like ninjas whenever you have an empty glass, or start to move a chair, or if they see you carrying luggage. Cannot praise them highly enough. The food is equally impressive, especially the a la carte restaurants. I was a little disappointed by the vegetarian options in the buffet, and the fact that the buffet food is not labelled as vegetarian or otherwise. However, the standard of food is outstanding, especially the breakfast buffet and the a la carte restaurants, where there is a whole vegetarian menu available. The hotel is quiet, there is only an hour of entertainment each evening which is understated but excellent quality. If you are looking for loud music or “shows” each night this is not the hotel for you. We went preferred all inclusive which we enjoyed, it included all of the a la carte restaurants as often as we liked, better quality wine, and access to the preferred area pool, a la carte lunch in Oceana and barefoot grill. We didn’t see much benefit to the preferred lounge, and barely used it. The hotel is in a quiet location, with a 10-15 minute walk to the marina which has a good choice of bars and restaurants. It’s a shame that many of the shop units are empty, but the shops that are there are classy and good quality. The hotel spa is very nice, well worth the €76 for the week’s pass, although you do have to pre-book your visits. Overall an excellent hotel, only let down by the poor veggie selection/labelling in the buffet. (I did speak to guest services about it, and their response was that I would be better using the a la carte restaurants).

The hotel was clean and tidy but lacked the 5 star oomph. Staff were either really happy or snappy and moody. It’s not fair to put everyone into the same category. Airam at the front desk/porter was exceptionally welcoming. The Portofino Restuarant was lovely and held the 5 star rating. We visited the Oceania but were sadly disappointed in the menu. I chose scallops for starters, which came out tasting over cooked and rubbery. I followed by have green curry scallops and shrimps. The fish was cooked very well this time but the “green curry” was definitely missing. A pasty light brown minimal glaze with a hint of coconut was on the plate. On arrival a few other guests said it was better eating out of the resort, which we did. The Mumbai masala was great as was Papperdella. I’ve visited numerous 5 star hotels and this one felt like a 4 star I’m afraid
