Lovely resort would return

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

The resort is on the sea front, fairly remote with a 10 minute walk to the Marina. The resort was adult only which made it very peaceful, although busy the overall feel was not crowded. My room was lovely with a fabulous view of the sea and pools. The room had a coffee machine for espresso, tea etc… all items refreshed daily. The minibar had drinks and snacks included also refreshed daily. I had breakfast included and was in the preferred room and so had access to the lounge which was stocked with drinks and snacks included also. This was regularly refreshed throughout the day and open from 7am - 7pm so did not need to buy lunch and had dinner a few nights only as for me snacks were sufficient. I did order room service one night and this was disappointing. All restaurant food was very good quality and good value for money. I went to Yoga and Pilates classes with Isabel daily and this was the best part of the day, the classes were very relaxing. They would suit beginners mostly. I enjoyed the spa facilities on a few occasions, the spa had multiple experiences sauna, steam room, experience showers, cold and hot jacuzzi as well as infra red loungers. The spa pool circuit was great with lots of different jets all pretty powerful. I would definitely come back to this resort, staff all very friendly and welcoming. All bookings for all classes and activities could be accessed on the app although this did freeze a few times. WiFi available everywhere. Only issues I found were the noise levels when furniture is moved around in adjacent or rooms above. Should use padding on chair legs. Also the toilet did make noises possibly when another room was flushing and I did hear other toilet users which was a little disconcerting. Could benefit from sound proofing. Not enough to put me off staying again.

Skip this Secrets Resort

I was really excited to stay at Secrets Lanzarote, especially as a Hyatt Discoverist traveling under a Guest of Honor booking, but this resort was a huge disappointment from start to finish. Our first room had a balcony door that didn’t lock, and maintenance was dismissive until I showed them the safety issue myself. The shower door was broken, and when we moved to a second room, both shower-door pieces were broken and all the drains were clogged. The balcony door also didn’t lock there either. Calling the front desk for help led to “we’re busy” and “no one speaks English is available,” which is shocking at an upscale international resort. Housekeeping placed a new towel inside the bidet seat, and one night at dinner we saw a roach crawling on the wall at the grill station. Between that and the quality of the food, I would have avoided eating here entirely if we hadn’t prepaid the all-inclusive. At Portofino, they served burnt Parmesan on risotto, freezer-burnt sorbet, and bruschetta made with whole cherry tomatoes and no fresh mozzarella. Many employees looked exhausted, and we saw the same staff working 12+ hour shifts across different parts of the resort. Spa facilities were underwhelming, the hot tub was lukewarm, and the booking app didn’t work. When I asked for help, the response was "go to the app". Then when we said that's why we are here the app doesn't work. Met with an "Oh well, that happens.” We shared that we were celebrating an anniversary at check-in, but there was no acknowledgement or gesture at all. Overall, this stay did not reflect Secrets or Hyatt standards. If I didn’t know there were better properties in the brand, I would reconsider staying with Hyatt altogether.

Good hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This is a very good 4 star hotel, not sure why it is rated 5 star, apart from their staff who are, but the facilities are probably not. I also believe they should change the preferred name for their guests who choose to have a better experience, (which is certainly is). Surely just Club, or Gold service would be more fitting than being a preferred guest. Feel the preferred name a little condescending on the other guests. Overall good stay, only did b&b, great breakfast, brilliant team. Would go back.
