Amazing stay

Absolutely fabulous hotel. The staff are amazing and do everything they possibly can to make your stay perfect. The spa facilities are brilliant and the brasserie restaurant is well worth a visit for some amazing food! We are already thinking of when to return.

Great hotel, staff unable to deal with basic issues

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I stayed at the Hotel Royal Savoy Lausanne several times over the course of a couple of years, and it became something of a home from home for me in Lausanne. It is a genuinely beautiful hotel, in a lovely setting, and I have always found the staff warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, one experience has rather changed my view. On a Friday night, the hotel was hosting a very large party in the garden for graduates. I completely understand that the guests were there to celebrate and have fun, and I have no issue with the hotel hosting an event. The problem was the level of noise, which was extremely loud and continued late into the night. I had to be up at 5am, so I asked whether I could be moved to a quieter room at the back of the hotel. This was refused. I then asked whether the hotel could provide earplugs. The house manager kindly brought some to me, but unfortunately they had no meaningful effect. Eventually, with no other solution offered, I decided that my only option was to check out and find a budget hotel near the airport so that I could get some sleep before my early start. What disappointed me most was not the party itself, but the hotel’s response when I explained the problem. I had actively tried to find a solution and had specifically asked to be moved to a quieter room, but this was simply refused. As a returning guest who had stayed at the hotel repeatedly over several years, I found the lack of flexibility and empathy extremely disappointing. In summary, the Royal Savoy is a beautiful hotel and, when everything is going well, a wonderful place to stay. But my experience left me with the impression that while the hotel is very good at delivering a lovely experience when everything runs smoothly, there is considerably less customer service when something goes wrong. For me, that matters. A truly great hotel isn’t just about beautiful surroundings and friendly service when everything is perfect; it is also about how you look after your guests when there is a problem

Warm Welcome, Perfect Breakfast, Amazing Team

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

A truly 5-star welcome, especially from Youssef, a young, energetic and always smiling guy. He welcomed us with such great energy, helped us with our luggage, accompanied us to the front desk and took care of our car with great professionalism. Truly an exceptional person! A big round of applause to the whole team, always kind and welcoming. A special shoutout to Gabriel for the excellent breakfast service, his attention to every detail, and the beautifully prepared and complete buffet. Thanks to everybody — we will definitely be back!

Enjoyable stay with some disappointments

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This was our fourth stay, and had two nights to relax on the way back from elsewhere in Switzerland. This hotel is a treat for us and we always look forward to staying here. First the good stuff: * Breakfast is lovely, pretty setting with indoor and outdoor seating options, excellent selection of food, and great service from really friendly staff * The location is great being right next to Delices metro so easy to get around * The rooms generally are luxurious and classy with very comfortable beds and a good pillow selection * Friendly, helpful staff * We had a room on the fourth floor with lovely lake views * The spa is well appointed and an enjoyable experience Sone things we were slightly disappointed in this visit: * The sky lounge used to be a lovely place for a drink with a view, esp at sunset, but since our last visit they have changed this to be a restaurant only (which wasn’t our taste of food) so we weren’t able to go up there. This isn’t a great guest experience! The downstairs bar is ok but lacks atmosphere * Some of the furniture in the room has seen better days and needs attention - the bench/drawer was really scuffed for example * Our shower door leaked water (this was also the case the last time we stayed in a different room!) although they are generous with the number of towels in the bathroom so you always have something to mop it up with * A few things in the spa weren’t working. Also a couple looked like they were getting it on in one of the jacuzzi booths! 🙈 But we love this hotel and Lausanne so look forward to our next stay even though we feel our experience wasn’t as good as previous visits.
