Grand Hotel Victoria Concept & Spa

My recent stay experience at the Grand Hotel Victoria was ruined by clearly failed management. I observed that high staff turnover and the unsustainable working environment have created a toxic atmosphere that inevitably affects the customer. Employees confirmed to me that the source of this distress stems from rude, threatening behavior and unacceptable leadership on the part of the general management. It is unacceptable that a hotel of this caliber allows a single individual to destroy the spirit of the staff and the quality of service. The management is clearly the cause of the distress. I will not return to this hotel until a serious review of its leadership is demonstrated

Our stay at the Grand Hotel Victoria in Menaggio was everything we dreamed a Lake Como getaway could be — elegant, serene, and beautifully designed down to the last detail. This hotel blends contemporary luxury with classic Italian charm, creating an atmosphere that feels both fresh and timeless. The location in Menaggio is perfection. Close enough to enjoy the energy of the lake, yet peaceful enough to feel like your own private corner of Como. The views are breathtaking — soft morning light on the water, sailboats drifting by, and sunsets that paint the mountains gold. The grounds are immaculate, with manicured gardens, quiet pathways, and a layout that feels intimate despite being spacious. Every corner invites you to slow down and savor the moment. The pool area is a highlight: modern, sleek, and surrounded by stunning scenery. Service by the pool was polished and warm, making it easy to spend entire afternoons soaking up the sun with an Aperol spritz in hand. Our room was beautifully appointed — airy, refined, and filled with thoughtful touches. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the design modern yet cozy, and the views unforgettable. Breakfast was a dream each morning. A beautifully curated buffet with fresh pastries, fruit, local specialties, and made-to-order options, all enjoyed with a backdrop of lake views that make you linger a little longer. Evenings at the hotel felt magical, especially with the live music drifting through the property. There’s something about sipping a drink at golden hour, surrounded by soft melodies and the glow of the lake, that feels cinematic. From beginning to end, the service was exceptional. Warm, professional, and truly invested in making our stay perfect. If you’re dreaming of Lake Como, Grand Hotel Victoria in Menaggio is an absolute gem. A modern sanctuary with classic soul — we can’t wait to return.

We ended our honeymoon here and couldn't have asked for a more luxurious experience. The staff is friendly and caters to every need with a smile. The location is great, as Menaggio offers the most town-like feel (compared to other more touristy-feeling towns on the lake). The hotel is walkable to the town center and ferry stop, but is in a location that provides privacy and quiet. All meals we had at the hotel were great. Our only regret was not spending enough time in the spa!

The setting is sublime! Our room, while well outfitted, was just larger than a small walk in closet. The desk politely told us we had a special room...and that it was. On the 5th floor, likely a former room of the "help." Steps up to the rear facing balcony with a reasonable view. And the spa....wow! And, OMG, could they make it any more confusing. It takes a tour and a few visits to figure the thing out. The bathrooms in the spa are NOT outfitted with the amenities you find in the room. No lotions or any shavers. And try to find the towels, both in the locker room and outside in the spa area. No jacuzzi is over a warmish 90 degrees F or so. And, it's very very dark which I guess the designers think is cool. No, it just adds to the confusion of the set up. The GHV is a beautiful place but needed a bit more thinking and practicality. Do not expect 5 star perfection. Expect 4 star in a flawed 5 star property.

This was our third (and favorite) luxury hotel on our Backroads tour. Our room was right up a marble staircase. The staff are unfailingly attentive and friendly, and I was really pleased to see that they were all wearing white sneakers (!!) which probably contributed to their lovely attitudes. Best breakfast buffet I've ever experienced, with rosti, figs, omelettes, and pastries galore. Dinner was delicious as well. The hotel is right across from the gorgeous lake. I would most definitely love to return to this hotel.
