Beautiful hotel, favourite of our 3 week trip!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We only stayed one night, but wow, what a lovely hotel, we chose it as they allow dogs The outside areas are really gorgeous as the hotel backs onto a river. There is a lot of comfortable outdoor seating and umbrellas, and also there is the wellness suite with the open air swimming pool which was in use when we stayed. It's rather like being in a resort hotel. We were allowed to use a table in the lounge for breakfast and have the dog with us. Breakfast was excellent, a lot of choice (obviously not an English Breakfast, but you are in Austria). A mention must go to Stefano in the bar, who gave us first class service, thank you Stefano, it was appreciated. He introduced my husband to a local customer, a real character! Our room was gorgeous, very large with a view over the river and the lovely outdoor areas. Pod coffee machine provided also. The bathroom had a bath as well as a shower, great for us. A dog bed and bowl were provided for my Chihuahua. My only comment for dog owners is that if you have an elderly dog (like me) who needs to go out in the middle of the night, the hotel doors are locked and there is no-one on the reception to let you back in. There is a doorbell but I was not going to use it so my husband had to also come downstairs and let me back in. Maybe the hotel should install a system whereby your room key can unlock the main door from the outside. Out of our 3 week tour of Austria and Italian Lakes, it was my favourite hotel.

Exceptional hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed July 3, 2024

Exceptional hotel on a river by a lovely old town. I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband, son and his wife. Our rooms were large and overlooking the river. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. I asked for sheets and blankets in our room as I do not like duvets and it was done immediately. There is a nice sitting area in the room and a spacious bathroom with an extremely useful 7x magnifying mirror. The toilet is closed off from the bathroom. We were provided with kettles on request. There is a nice sitting area with sofa and armchair in the room. There is no air conditioning but they provide a large fan. The room was quite warm on our first night as river facing rooms are south facing so get the sun in the afternoon. The breakfast buffet was exceptional. There were several staff replenishing constantly. As well as the buffet you could choose omelettes and other cooked eggs from a separate menu at no extra cost. The 2 evening 2 meals we had were excellent. These came with a complimentary tasty starter. The extensive spa facilities and indoor/outdoor pool are very good. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Lienz is a lovely small town and the hotel is close to the Grossglockner mountain pass. We came here after 2 days in Slovenia. We will definitely return.

Wonderful food, exceptional staff.

This hotel had the best breakfast options of any hotel. I particularly like the healthy options of a juicer, many fresh fruits and vegetables and wide assortment of yogurts and homemade breads. The staff were exceptional and very accomadationing.

Beautiful hotel and views!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed June 6, 2023

It is truly a grand hotel. Beautiful inside and outside, wonderful staff, very nice restaurant, and beautiful views from the river side balcony of our room. We had a corner room on the fourth floor with two doors that opened up and let in a wonderful breeze. There were upright chairs, a lounge chair, and a table on the balcony. If there’s anything they could improve upon it would be the breakfast breads and pastries, as well as providing the guests with juice instead of the guest having to juice their own oranges (which wasn’t working well).

If I have to go back, which probably won't happen, I'm not going back to the same hotel

You expect a 5-star hotel to change towels in the shower, which they didn't Imagine you are in the shower and suddenly there are no towels , I waited to dry off, got dressed and went down to reception to ask for towels Although we stayed for two days, but a normal breakfast, even a 3-star hotel serves the same
