We’ve been to Kauai many many times. We love it every time. It is much quieter than the other islands and much more relaxing that Maui and Oahu and the Big Island. We especially enjoy the rainier North island and stay close to Princeville and travel often to Hanalei for the picturesque beaches near there. We love the almost daily fruit and vegetable markets and generally stay in condos with complete kitchen facilities. There are lots of fine restaurants but we do enjoy eating in. Fresh fish is always readily available. I’m actually a bit sorry for pointing out all these wonderful things about Kauai. I really want to save it just for us regulars. Oh well. You will love it just like we do.

After spending 6 hours on the plane with my parent, who has low mobility we ordered room service and I went into the bathroom to take a shower. I looked to my left on the wall near the toilet HUMAN FECES smeared on the wall! I called the front desk for housekeeping it took them 20 minutes to arrive. No apologies from the front desk, nor offering to change rooms. The housekeeper finally arrived with some ripped up towels and a spray bottle of cleaner you would find at a gym; he scrubbed and scrubbed the wall then left. I was exhausted and disgusted it was late at night and I tossed and turned all night. First thing in the morning, I call Priceline where I booked this reservation and the front desk. Ashley the assistant manager was gracious and stated they would refund our entire six nights. However, her manager Dee stated she would not and wanted to negotiate. This wasn't a minor incident this was HUMAN FECES smeared on the wall a biohazard. It took 6 hours talking to Priceline and Royal Sonesta to only get the remaining 5 nights refunded out of 6 nights for our non-refundable booking. Apparently, I should have been grateful to have the remaining 5 out of 6 nights of a non-refundable booking refunded. Royal Sonesta did not want us to leave; they offered extra amenities and an upgrade to an ocean view room. Here's the thing, I REFUSED because the previous night they should have offered to change my room. There were no notes in the computer of the incident at the front desk. No acknowledgment or urgency to resolve the matter. Dee would rather spend all my time negotiating than ensuring guests leave with a positive view of the hotel. If I wanted to negotiate back and forth; I wouldn't be on vacation away from corporate. If Dee would have refunded all nights; I wouldn't have posted this review. This was my first time to the island of Kauai. My first time staying at a Sonesta property and my last time staying at Sonesta.

This is the most awful place I have ever been. This is not a nice place, management is awful. We paid full with Expedia and upon checking they wanted us to pay extra resort fee of $270 even though we showed them in writing that we already have paid. I don't know how the hell the got 9.4 rating in Expedia. The management is awful , they are full of lies. They only have one restaurant, food is not good either. They don't clean your room daily, they clean it every other day. I paid for ocean front room, they gave me a room with pool view very noisy even though I signed in for the quiet room. This a very awful place to stay

We had such a wonderful experience with Mana Manoi Agni! He was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful to our family of three during our visit. He really went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of, even taking the time to write down a list of local restaurants and places for us to try. It’s those thoughtful, personal touches that make a trip feel extra special. We truly appreciated his hospitality, local recommendations, and genuine kindness. Thank you for helping make our time here even more memorable. Highly recommend!

Beautiful beach. We rented a cabana for a day and a great time and a place to congregate when not in the ocean or in the BEAUTIFUL pool. . My ten year old grandson spent most of the day in the pool having fun. Easy access. Lovely location. Rooms were lovely and very clean and spacious. We would definitely bring our family back here again. Next time we need to stay at least 10 days. So much to do on Kauai!
