Reviews for Altis Avenida Hotel

As former inn owners we were VERY impressed with the hotel...and slept very well.

Where to start? Everything exceeded our expectations which are high. We were booked in for five nights.... We asked for a quiet end of corridor room and were given one however it overlooked the side of a square and thus we thought it could be noisy....how wrong we were. The glazing is superb and despite having two doors out to balcony we heard nothing. The room was compact but very well designed having enough furniture to be useful but none to get in the way. The small bathroom had a deep tub with excellent shower over it. A small fridge kept my quickly delivered small jug of fresh milk cool. We travel with our own tea bags so did not use the in room espresso machine on this occasion. The bed with an excellent king mattress, pillows and linen were top notch. It is rare to find such a good selection of pillows in a hotel these days. Most importantly the room preparation crew did an excellent job and the whole hotel was spotless. Being give some custard tarts, a small bottle of port upon arrival and a bottle of red vino for our last night were lovely touches. ALL the staff we came across were friendly and helpful and the waiters in the restaurant were delightful and chatty in the best way. We ate in the bar one night and found the selection of foods to be very interesting and tasty. Breakfast buffet was exceptionally managed and never looked unkept or swamped and provided a plethora of foods including some excellent yoghurt in little glass jars as well as a impressive selection of hot and cold food. Would we return....you bet as the hotel is central to most of the sights in Lisbon and right opposite the train station for trains to Sintra. We left for the short taxi ride to the airport and hour too early as Lisbon airport which was exceptionally busy, seemed able to cope with hordes of passengers until you get to your boarding gate where seats are at a minimum.

A real treat. Lovely hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel 23rd-26th October 2025. This is how a city hotel should be organised and managed. It is in the hart of the city and in my opinion the best location for visitors. A five star hotel that lives up to its rating. Clean, tidy and welcoming. A big part of what makes a hotel worth visiting is how the staff interact with guests. This hotel has staff that are falling over themselves to make your stay enjoyable. They are not in your face but somehow know how and when to help. They strike a good balance between being professional and curtious. The rooms are well proportioned and decorated very well. They are serviced to a good standard every day. Turndown service is offered. If possible reserve a room with a balcony. This may not be to everybody’s taste but if you like to watch the hustle and bustle of a vibrant city it helps. Nice touches like little presents await on occasion on return to your room. Great to enjoy on the balcony. The LG tv’s in each room offer something for everyone. Sparkling wine and cookies are on offer in the chilling area of the reception 24hrs. Rossios roof top bar on the 7th floor is well staffed and has a very good menu for food and drinks. It allows for a grand view almost 360 degrees over the city. The 8th floor is reserved for residents only and has a sundeck. Unfortunately we weren’t able to use this facility due to the inclement weather! Breakfast is buffet style and has multiple options. Eggs can be ordered any way you would prefer. The food is cooked very well and the staff are very helpful. We will be returning.

Simply the best location, service and rooftop terrace.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Excellent location, facilities and service. We could walk to the seafront and commercial square in 15-20 mins. And we could see it from the lively rooftop bar. Easy 5 mins walk to the fabulous Bonjardim (best chicken restaurant with Piri piri ) restaurant as well as many others. 2 mins walk to lots of Tuk Tuk tours. Talk to drivers get a local who speaks English. Andrea was amazing. Hour to two hours is plenty to see most viewing points. Rooms were very comfortable and the double glazing and sound proofing were excellent. Good showers. Excellent choice and service at breakfast which is on rooftop terrace. Would definitely go there again.

Beautiful Stay in Lisbon

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

You get what you pay for and the Altis was worth every Euro. It was close to everything we wanted to see in Lisbon, beautifully appointed, gorgeous rooms and very friendly attentive staff. The breakfast every morning on the roof top terrace was a joy. Delicious, well thought out spread and very friendly wait staff and an incredible view. The terrace was also open as a night time bar, great spot to unwind every evening. We will definitely stay here again!
