Reviews for Pestana Palace Lisboa

Beautiful hotel with lots of history

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 16 hours ago

Enjoyed a long weekend at the Pestana Palace. The hotel was beautiful, set out looked after gardens and the rooms, although in newer buildings, echoed the history of the palace. The breakfast buffet selection was varied and plenty of it, which was replaced often and there was plenty of tables inside and outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. We also enjoyed sitting out by the pool, which had a number of bed although I suspect during higher seasons there wouldn't be enough sunbeds for all the guest. Our only disappointment was the lack of somewhere to find a drink during the day by the pool - the little coffee hut was shut for painting and the poolside hut also seemed to be shut, upon asking at the spa they directed us to a water fountain in the gym, which I wouldn't have expected in a hotel of this caliber. It was otherwise a fantastic hotel to visit and we would certainly come back next time we're in Lisbon!

Fond memories

The hotel is an oasis in a crowded city. Occupying a full city block, the actual palace and newer buildings surround a large, well-maintained garden. In our attractive and functional room with balcony, we looked out on the lush greenery. All hotel staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient. Buffet breakfast options were diverse and delicious, including mango, papaya, and kiwi as fruit selections. If we return to Lisbon, we will stay there.

Outstanding Service, room was just average

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We stayed 3 nights as part of a business conference. The staff were exemplary. Very attentive fixed issues immediately and treated us like they were glad we were there. The breakfast was great as was dinner in the bar. The food for catered events was just ok. The converted horse barn across the street was amazing with river and bridge views. The common rooms in the original building were great, very ornate and we enjoyed them. The only downside is the pool is small with very few chairs. There are others hidden up the hill. The rooms were decent and tried to match the style of the main building but missed the mark. The bed was just ok. One table had usb charging, the other did not. Location is a little removed from the center of town (about a 20 minute car ride).

Beautiful former palace

This hotel is stunningly beautiful and filled with fabulous stained glass windows and a very professional staff. We didn’t realize that it catered to conventions so it wasn’t as intimate as we would have liked and it needs some remodeling in the wings where the rooms are. The breakfasts are delicious but the buffet is too crowded for the number of guests. Very disappointed that there were no good ports on the bar menu. It is located right under the airport flight path and was very noisy.

Lovely stay in a quiet area

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Husband and I stayed at Pestana Palace hotel on a weekend trip to Lisbon in March. We had a fantastic time, our room was large and comfortable and the property and gardens are lovely. Staff were polite and very friendly. Breakfast was very good, as was room service and the on-site restaurant (great gourmet experience for dinner!). The hotel is located in a quiet area that was perfect for us, as we needed some rest after a couple of busy/difficult months. Moving around was no problem as the area has good public transport links (bus). We would definitely stay at Pestana Palace again, just probably not during peak time, when the hotel is busiest. The walls do seem to be a bit thin - our neighbours next door arrived at 2.30am and woke us up, then they decided to keep the TV on all night (maybe a bad case of jet lag!) and we could clearly hear it, which made it difficult to go back to sleep. Better soundproofing would be the only improvement we'd suggest.
