Llama Hike for the win

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We didn't stay at the hotel, but we booked a Llama Day Hike through them. Yellowstone Llamas was the vendor, Suzie. What an incredible and memorable experience at such a beautiful place. Next time we're in the area we will use this as our home base for exploring rather than where we stayed before. The llamas were wonderful, Suzie is wonderful, and it's such a unique way to take a hike of this incredible landscape. The staff we interacted with were all friendly and professional. I have absolutely nothing negative to say. What a welcoming and beautiful place.

Unprofessional and uncaring

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

In December 2025 we booked and paid for a room here with a planned 2 night stay in June 2026. Just under 2 weeks before our stay the hotel unceremoniously cancelled it, dumping us with nowhere to stay in the middle of a 2week roadtrip. Dreadful way to treat clients. They wanted to use our room for Spa treatments and refused to compromise or help. Unprofessional and very disappointing way to be treated.

Best dog-friendly mountain retreat

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

My partner and I scheduled this trip as we saw Sage Lodge on many dog-friendly US lists. I can confirm this hotel is the perfect place to bring your dog! There's a max occupancy of around 200 people, so the hotel never felt crowded. There's plenty of dog-friendly spaces, each room has a gorgeous view, and the suite spaces were very comfortably sized. There's plenty of included activities and amenities to make the price worth every penny. It was a bit of a bummer to have the spa and fitness center closed for our stay, but we're excited to participate in more next time! Great location to Yellowstone (30 min to park entrance near Gardiner), not too far from nearest town (Livingston - 30 min) and other activities (Chico Hot Springs - 5 min; Livingston hikes for dogs - 30 min) and PLENTY of nearby outdoorsy activities to keep you busy all week

Feels like you're staying at a private ranch

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We had a magical experience at the Sage Lodge! We traveled here for 4 nights as our base to explore Yellowstone National Park. The Sage Lodge exceeded all expectations. The people who work here know you and your family by first name within 1 day of arrival. They go out of their way to get to know you, and to provide exceptional service. Natasha at the front desk is the Mother Hen of the group, and one of the original staff members since this quietly luxurious property opened in 2018. Huge shout out to the following staff members and guides who made our experience so memorable: Anders (scenic float guide), Dillon (an actual biologist they have on staff leading the all day private sunrise wildlife tour!), Jayden (e-bike tour and axe throwing), and Wil (archery course). These guys are world class. We have never felt so cared for in any of our travels (and we travel extensively both domestically and internationally). We were treated like family! The food at The Grill is also world class. The wine menu is superb, setting is magical, and the elk in particular was to die for. The bartenders and servers at the Fireside were outstanding! Both food and drinks there were top notch. The breakfast at Fireside is out of this world. All made to order, and generous portion sizes. Our teenagers raved about this place and can be hard to please. For them it was the diversity of activities offered by the Sage Lodge. We did most of the ones offered - archery, axe throwing (complimentary), e-biking tour, scenic float down the Yellowstone River - they are all well worth the cost and really help you explore the entire property (which is massive!) Our only note for the resort is that we missed not having dressers to stow our belongings in the room. Would be really great to not be living out of suitcases for such a long trip. The bedding arrangement was fantastic with two teens. The staff made the trundle bed under the window, and queen sleeper sofa, so our teens had their own spaces. The king bed was extremely comfortable, and view from the room was exceptional. On top of all this aggressive relaxation and diving food, we enjoyed two full days in Yellowstone exploring, and it exceeded all expectations. We did 1 day self guided which was a ton of driving (11 hours), but we saw 3/4 of the park. Day 2 we went with Dillon the biologist guide and all I can say is WOW! He is brilliant, so good with teenagers, and he found all the animals we could have hoped to see! I was a bit hesitant to stay so far north of Yellowstone for our whole trip but do not regret it at all. If luxurious lodging and outstanding food and service is important to you, then this is the place to stay while exploring Yellowstone. We are so grateful to have stayed at this magical place that feels like you're staying at a friend's private ranch. Don't hesitate to book it right away. Thank you Sage Lodge. We hope to be back one day soon!

World Class Accommodations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We are incredibly blessed to be able to travel very extensively both nationally and internationally. With that as a basis of comparison, we would put Sage Lodge at the very top of our list of accommodations we have ever experienced. First class. World class.
