Be careful. I made a mistake booking and got absolutely no where with these people. They are very bureaucratic and rule bound. My advice is stay clear.

Everything at the Ljubjana Intercontinental is absolutely perfect: 1) Location: slightly outside (but a very short walking distance from) of the old town allows an easy access by car and provides very quiet nights 2) Super efficient and very friendly staff answers every sollicitation very rapidly and provides the ultimate comfort in this modern hotel 3) In house food is delicious and the breakfast buffet offers a super wide choice of delightful dishes 4) The concierge desk is super helpful. Nina at reception in particular knows everything about the city, the country and the whole region! An endless source of inspiration for activities, shopping and visits and the key to a wonderful stay in probably the nicest hotel of this wonderful city!

We made a last minute booking for New Year 2026 and arrived in Ljubljana on Monday 29th December for a 5 night stay. We originally chose a King Room without breakfast but we're offered an upgrade for €500 to include a suite, breakfast, and Club access. If you are going to use all the facilities then this is a good choice. For us, we went to breakfast just once, and didn't use any of the other perks. They have amazing breakfast choices though, including gluten-free, and offer take away boxes. The accommodation is comfortable; we need hot showers and good beds, and got both. The lights are all or nothing, which is odd as you can't just use a lamp alone. Everyone we met was welcoming, helpful, polite and friendly. We decided to explore out of the hotel rather than use the gym, the pool, bar, breakfast, spa, etc. We didn't use the Club lounge either. A lovely hotel in a great location. Easy walk to the Old Town, shops all around, cafes, restaurants, even a chemist. The only negative is that it is listed as a 5* and we would say 4* at best. The rooms need some attention, dusting and deep cleaning would go a long way. Our stay was €1800 for 5 nights. Next time we would just book a classic room without breakfast.

This is a review for Serenity Spa and the restaurant, both part of the Intercontinental. I did not use the hotel service. I went to the spa for a massage and access to spa area. The spa area was fun and had a lot of light, with a stunning view of Ljubljana. There was a swimming pool, hot tub, lounger chairs and two saunas. It was very family oriented. The massage I took was given by an inexperienced masseuse who dug into my pain rather than relax it. I would never go back. The restaurant, again with a great view of the city, although boasting a Michelin recognized chef, served food was bland and not worth the 73 euros I paid for it.

What a huge disappointment coming from the Intercontinental Bucharest- What a fantastic property!!!! It started with the room not being ready on arrival and also not getting my upgrade-I was moved to a higher floor, but the same room type- This should have been blocked prior to my arrival, as a Platinum Elite Ambassador. One of the big issues is spraying the room with a sickening rose scented spray, the property should know not to not put in scented sprays, as some guests may have respiratory issues. It seems that many had complained and they finally stopped using this scent, but continued using a floral scent in the room. No one does this! The room was pretty, but the bathroom was lacking. This sounds petty, but I am going to mention the amenities. They stuffed some little boxes in a bulging box, which was clearly not meant to be displayed on the counter. it was simply thrown on the counter and not displayed on a dish or anything. I was really embarrassed for the property, as two-star hotel would not even do this. You should also have USB ports on both sides of the bed. Finally, to charge a guest, or anyone 3.50 euro for the privilege of dining at the restaurant is terrible. I am writing this review as I never received a reply from the property when I responded to their survey. Most-with the exception of the upgrade- are not big issues, but not up to the standards of a 5-star.
