The Athenaeum Hotel & Residences

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely wonderful. The location is excellent, the rooms are beautiful and spotless, and the overall atmosphere is so welcoming. What made it even more exceptional was Pedro! He provided world-class service with a big smile. He was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to make our visit unforgettable. We will definitely come back!

We went for dinner at The Athenaeumand, overall, had some wonderful experiences. The bar staff were very attentive and provided excellent service. They escorted us to the restaurant, which looked beautiful, elegant and very tastefully decorated. Our waiter, Shuvo, was outstanding. He answered all our questions about the menu with a genuine smile and made excellent recommendations on what would pair best with our choices, which turned out to be perfect. When we were about to order the same dessert, he suggested that one of us try a different one instead, and it was absolutely incredible. His warm personality and exceptional service really enhanced our evening. The food was delicious and full of flavour. However, our main course had one disappointing flaw. We ordered the stone bass with crushed new potato salad, Native Coastal Vegetables and potted shrimps. We were assured that the dish would be served hot, but only the fish was hot. The vegetables, potato salad and shrimps were cold, giving the impression that the accompaniments had been plated well before the fish was cooked and simply added to the plate at the end. It was a real shame, as the quality and flavours were excellent. Unfortunately, the other issue was the temperature of the dining room. It was extremely cold. We mentioned this to the first waiter who checked on us, and he said he would ask for the temperature to be adjusted, but nothing changed. It was so cold that we had to go out into the corridor next to the bar several times just to warm up before returning to our table. Shuvo’s exceptional service certainly made us feel much more comfortable, and his warmth almost compensated for the cold dining room. We genuinely hope the temperature issue and the consistency of the food service can be addressed, because with those improvements the experience would have been outstanding.

This hotel is beautiful, but what sets it apart are the staff. Hands down! The doorman, Donald, Restaurant, Ellie, Front Desk, Zach, Walleed, Kal, and the concierge team. They are all amazing. My teenage daughter and I stayed for four nights, the left for Rome for a few days and stayed another night on the back end. It felt like coming home. They are seriously that welcoming. The hotel is impeccable, service is impeccable, but you are nothing without good staff. This hotel nails it. Cannot recommend enough.
