Disappointing Afternoon Tea in the Drawing Room.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I wish to express my regret of my experience for afternoon tea yesterday in the drawing room at Browns hotel.I had booked for a table of four at 4pm on Saturday 30th May, three adults and my 10 year old daughter, initially I was surprised that there was no children’s tea menu offered to my 10 year old daughter, as is usually the case in establishments where I have frequented. This is a regular occurrence for my wife and I along with my youngest daughter to arrange tea to meet in London with my eldest daughter for tea, and it should be noted we have had tea at a great deal of places ( Fortnum & Mason, The Ritz, Sketch, The Renaissance Hotel, The Waldorf,Harrods’ to name but a few) My youngest daughter did not eat any of the sandwiches on offer and we had to ask if she could have an alternative filling. Ham sandwiches were duly provided, but the ham inside was thickly sliced and I think only one and a half of the four sandwiches were eaten. The sweet plate was also quite rich for her taste and she only touched the chocolate ganache dessert. When I was presented with the bill, it came to £377, which was the cost of four full adult teas, bottled sparkling water and a service charge. I left extremely disappointed and with a distinct bad taste in my mouth at my youngest daughter not being considered and for paying £80 for essentially a finger sandwich and a small chocolate patisserie! This cannot be considered good value for money. It should be noted other establishments have provided a teddy bear for their younger patrons when ordering a cream tea experience, and others do different things for their younger guests to make them feel more “seen” £377 is no small sum for a tea experience for four people and I feel there and much better choices available for families of discerning clientele. Thankyou for your time in reading this and I do hope my feedback means Browns Hotel and the Rocco Forte group can rectify things for younger patrons of afternoon tea in the future. On a positive note the location and ambience of the Drawing room at Browns were excellent.

Excellent customer service - thank you

I am reviewing on behalf of my sister who had an amazing experience at Browns on 21st May. My sister is post-surgery, and we were driving together in Mayfair doing errands. My sister developed concerns about her wound - so I stopped at Browns so that she could ask to use the Ladies to check it out. The doorman on duty - IVAN - could not have been more helpful and solicitous. He escorted her to the disabled loo, and then waited for her to see if she needed any additional assistance. His concern for my sister clearly was genuine. He is a tremendous ambassador for Browns. And, to top it off: My sister emailed the Managing Director to thank Ivan and Browns, and the same day she received a lovely reply-email from his Executive Assistant, NOEMI SALTEL. It is clear that Browns has a tremendous customer-service ethos which runs throughout the whole hotel! We knew Browns to be an exceptional hotel in any event, but it is clear that it has a particular focus on providing the very best in customer care. Thank you.

Extraordinary Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Our recent stay at Brown’s Hotel in London was nothing short of extraordinary. Having traveled extensively and stayed in many luxury properties around the world, I can honestly say that this was one of the most breathtaking and unforgettable hotels I have ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, every detail reflected elegance, refinement, and genuine warmth. The hotel itself is utterly magnificent, a perfect blend of timeless British heritage, understated luxury, and impeccable design. Every room and corridor seemed to tell a story, creating an atmosphere that felt both grand and deeply intimate. What truly elevated our experience, however, was the exceptional staff. Every member of the team treated us with extraordinary kindness, professionalism, and grace. We were especially touched by the generosity of the manager, Mr Charles Acuna, who graciously took the time to share some of the hotel’s remarkable history with us. Learning about the distinguished guests who once stayed there, including Rudyard Kipling, added an almost magical dimension to the experience. Seeing one of the historic rooms connected to him was unforgettable so beautiful and atmospheric that words hardly do it justice. Brown’s Hotel is far more than a luxury boutique hotel; it is a living piece of history, filled with beauty, character, and soul. Our stay there left a lasting impression on us, and I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone seeking a truly exceptional experience in London.
