London has no shortage of famous five-star hotels, but if you are looking for the ultimate in luxury, then the Dorchester should be--without hesitation--your London address. From the moment you enter the breathtaking lobby, you are surrounded by the finest things money can buy--thick carpets that your well polished shoes will sink into, massive displays of fragrant flowers and public rooms that are decorated to a royal standard. Accommodations are sumptuous and our suite had everything we could have wanted, from the warmed marble floors in the bathroom, to the ideal adjustable lighting the dressing room and the John Lobb shoe shine service offered to all the Dorchester's guests. The attention to detail made the experience special as they had my favorite brand of English chocolates waiting for me, as non-drinkers---the alcohol free champagne was on ice and there was even a photo of our much loved dog waiting for us by the bedside table. Service at the Dorchester is legendary and during our stay we received the perfect blend of refined yet engaging service. At check in, the Dorchester Ambassador, Katarina was on hand to welcome us back to our London home. The Les Clefs d'Or concierge team of Paul, Nikola, Stuart and Andy were there to take care of any requests and in the fabulous Promenade restaurant, the amazing Anuar made sure that we were treated in grand style--befitting such a theatrical and elegant room. The doormen were always offering us rides in the hotel's house car, and whenever we came back to the hotel late at night after an evening of theatre and dining, the overnight team of Courtney and Angelo-Pasqual were there to get our reviews on what we had seen. Overseeing every detail about our reservation and stay was Lara in the executive office who checked in with us frequently to make sure that our stay was memorable and perfect. Mayfair has always been the most exclusive section of London and the Dorchester is walking distance to a wonderful array of shops, restaurants and attractions in this beautiful neighborhood. There is a reason the Dorchester has become synonymous for luxury and style for almost 100 years this was a stay that I will always remember.

It's not news that the Dorchester is an incredibly fancy, high-end luxury hotel, and of course the rooms are gorgeous and there are Lamborghinis in the driveway and the flower arrangements are spectacular and a Vesper martini at the Vesper bar is delicious and costs £30. What was news to me, when we took my elderly in-laws to a weekend at the Dorchester as the last leg of a larger trip around the UK, was just how friendly and welcoming it would be. Everyone we interacted with on staff was outgoing, approachable, and seemed genuinely enthusiastic to be a part of such an incredible institution and happy to share it with the guests who are lucky enough to be able to afford it. The waiter serving afternoon tea in the Promenade will insist that you are having the time of your life, and if you're not, he'll swap out your champagne, your chosen tea sandwiches, your view if he can help it. The hostess in the Grille for morning breakfast will happily chat about how intimidating it is to clean the (gorgeous, ostentatious) chandeliers. The bartender will remember your drink and party from the prior evening, and tell you all about the £12,000 Dorchester Signature Cognac Experience, including that they know nobody's going to order it but how exciting was it that they got to taste the Louis XIII cognacs so that they could explain their tasting notes if someone actually did? We were excited for our stay but worried that it could be intimidating. After one of the best hotel stays of my life, I'm thrilled to say that we were dead wrong, and I can't wait to go back - not even for the rooms, but because I'd genuinely love to see these people again. That's not something even a £1,000-a-night hotel room usually buys.

Brilliant. Superb service, spotlessly clean and an excellent team. We enjoyed our stay enormously and would not hesitate to go back despite some rather expensive prices. It's an institution. not just a hotel. special mention for the Doormen who are always there to assist guests coming in and going out.

Cheeky weekend pre-Christmas trip. No, not the cheapest but honestly it isn’t ever going to be. Had a small suite which was beautiful with a fabulous view. All the food options from afternoon tea to Ducasse to possibly the best English breakfast are outstanding. Staff, professional yet incredibly friendly. Best or certainly close to best cocktail bar in London. Location speaks for itself.
