Hyatt Regency London, The Churchill

Our 6 night stay was very nice and the staff were friendly and polite but the 5 star rating system seems to have a large discrepancy in definition. This review is intended to manage people's expectations. If The Churchill was rated a 4 star hotel my stay would have been exceeded expectations. But, while the staff were friendly and polite, I was disappointed when they didn't? couldn't? make any extra effort to investigate our two requests and one question. And, to me, the effort by the staff to go above and beyond is a key differentiator between a 4 star and a 5 star. To be clear, I was not disappointed with the actual requests not being fulfilled or question being answered completely; it was the lack of service/effort. Rooms were spacious, towels and bed linens were clean but the trim paint was sloppy, there was ceramic tile instead of marble and rough-edged laminate instead of real wood. Again, perfectly acceptable for 4 star but disappointing for 5 star. The hallway noise was quite loud (we could hear just regular conversations as people walked by) but guests settled down by about 10:00 pm each night. The Churchill is a nice hotel and we are not faulting the individual staff members. We put it down more to the lack of empowerment by hotel management or perhaps the Hyatt Regency culture. Just manage your expectations and your stay will be quite enjoyable.

The hotel is in a fantastic location and the service is exactly what you expect. The bar is very comfortable and again attentive service. The rooms were a little tired I thought, but still a lovey hotel

My wife and I loved the hotel; the location was perfect (in the centre of London), the staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and it was one of the best check-ins and check-outs we ever had. We will definitely stay here again

We spent a short weekend in London before heading back and decided to try The Churchill, part of the Hyatt group. This is an old hotel that has been modernized. Our room was spacious with all the amenities you would expect. The bar was a great place to have an interesting cocktail before heading out. We took breakfast each day which was very good and caters to multiple ethnic groups. If you want to walk you are close to Oxford St, several Tube stations and also Hyde and Regents park. the bus service is also good and if you prefer, taxis are also easy to get. Portman square itself is nice and was lit up for Christmas when we stayed.

I had another excellent stay at your hotel for two nights in a club room with lounge access. The staff, the room, the food and the all round Christmas ambience was quite wonderful, and I will be returning for a 3 night stay, in the same standard room, on January 9th 2026.
